One Month Without Skiing

Hey NS, just came back from an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon. I basically broke my finger from the top joint up, though the marrow and there's nothing holding the joints together on the left side of my finger. I have an option to get surgery, but he thinks it's unnecessary. I asked the how long until skiing question and his response was one month. In my head I was saying fuck that, it's a finger. But, he explained to me if a hurt it worse in the process I'd be looking at some crazy bad reconstructive surgery. Basically I came to Ns for some advice

1.) Should I just go skiing before one month is up?

2.) Should I just take his advice, not ski, and what could I could do for one month to keep me occupied?

Thanks NS, this sucks real bad and your input would be ill.

just remove the finger like that one player from Boston College. Broke his thumb the beginning of his senior season and he either could have surgery to get it repaired and miss his entire football season or amputate it. He amputated it.

What the actual fuck ῶ⇖Ͳ

Oh and take the doctor's advice. If you can afford the surgery & it would improve future finger use then get it.

Considering you live in upstate NY and probably haven't been consistently skiing since April, I think you can wait.

Plus, it's not gonna snow here for another month anyways.

Well maybe if you could slide a cog pipe faster than 2 mph we wouldn't be in this situation. That being said ignore the shit out of the doctor I referred you to, film us, and get constant head from Vicki for a month straight. Pussy.

Bitch i shattered my patella (kneecap) third day at killington and i cant fucking ski for like three months... but really dude don't ski for a month it isn't that bad and it saves your finger... vibes man not skiing blows

If it were me, I'd wait 2-3 weeks, secure the fucker as best I could, and go for it.

But don't do that, doctor knows best.

Btw, is this american football or soccer you're talking about? I don't see how you would play american football without a thumb, it just makes no sense.

yeah American football. He was a line backer i think. Or a line man. I forget which. it was one of the two.

Honestly this is what im gonna do. The doctor said if I hurt it anymore Im gonna loose the majority of motion in that finger and thats if i go under the knife, I think its wise to do this +k JAHpow

if you can bend it and you really really wanna ski, make you hand into a fist, tape it, and put an oven mitt over it and tape that on. Other wise, dont ski. If people ask, just say your broke your whole hand. It will make you sound like less of a pussy.

A month isn't a big deal, man. I can't ski until December 16 because I'm at school and my skis are in California. The beginning of the season is a great time because you know you have a whole season ahead of you, but no matter where you are, it's the shittiest conditions all season. If it were February this would suck a lot more, so let it heal so you don't have this issue mid-season.

December looks like a shitty month for snow.

I have to leave Tahoe but I will have got 10 good days at Kirkwood with the whole mountain open before I dip. And if I leave while its still November thats plenty of time to return before the snow is good. Kirkwood is awesome and only needs 1 more legit storm for it to be amazing since basically everything is already open but chances are that storm doesn't come, shit melts, and it needs 2-3 storms to get back to where it is now.

Fix your finger.

If you want to cheat towards the end of the month...wear mittens. And tape all 4 fingers together inside your mittens. You shouldn't fuck it up too bad that way.

GL.

doctors generally give the worst, best case scenario. (sorry if that doesn't make sense) You should probably be fine before the month is up, but consult your doctor before you just go for it as it may still be fucked up.

I would Definately stop park for the month, but I wouldn't stop skiing. Just ride around and take it easy. Don't do anything you aren't sure if you can't do, and just be careful. But you Definately don't need to stop skiing completely. Maybe film your friends?

Think we're going to need to see some pictures of Vicki. Can't be tossin names around without pics.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal for a surgeon and Dr. to not do everything possible before amputating a thumb that's almost a necessity. you can't walk into a hospital and ask to chopped off a fingure they won't do it. But then again what do I know

I broke my arm longboarding in the summer a couple years back and listened to the doctor until full on bordum set in. I then went out and bombed hills with my friends and decided fuck sitting inside not doing the things I enjoy. I say you should ski if you really want to, take it easy man.

For the record he ended up jerking off a lot and eating taco bell, and no he did not slay vicki, and no he did not slay shae.
