One Love VS. One Love

I'm a senior in highschool in central massachusetts. In the winter i ski, and in the summer i dream about skiing. Three years ago, i started alittle film production company that never really accomplished much besides little edits online. Partly because I felt most of the shots were useless. I love editing and think I have a real creative filming personality. I like trying to figure out what looks best. I work tedious work and I enjoy every second of it, because in the end it turns out to be sick. For as many years as I can remember, I planned on moving out west for college and skiing powder and drops, and of course the park on nice sunny days. Everyone in my school looks at me as the skier, since everyone else boards, and they know i'm obsessed. It's all I think about. I just wish I knew a few more skiers good so i could film with them. I enjoy watching amateur ski movies such as Stept Productions, and look at them as a true inspiration. Another company, the Meatheads, is also one of my fav's.

SO the problem is, I applied to Fitchburg State College for the Communications Media Program, one of the best in the nation. I plan on making professional ski films when I get older, so i can combine awesome terrain with filming, making for one kick ass life. I got into the program and now i'm absolutely torn seeing as though this is about an hour from home and the closest mountain is Wachusett, a little hill. I'll be applying to Montana State and Western State of Colorado Billings too. But the question is. What would you choose if you were in my situation.

1. Taking a small student loan and paying how ever much more it is than Fitchburg state and living out west, something i've dreamed of my whole life.

OR 2. Staying on the east coast and being depressed about how much snow there is and hope the media program brings me a successful future.

haha listen to what u said urself... #1 sounds fun and #2 sounds like ur going to go rap ur lips around a shotgun. Yeah wachusett does suck.. they shouldnt be allowed to call it a mountain

well, judging by my experiences living here in the east, i would opt for the first option

the only thing i have to say is.. the chances of making a living of ski movies is slim to non. so do the fitchburg program which is a very good program and learn to make real films and try and make some money that way.

Dude I go to college 2 and a half hours away from 5 of the sickest resorts in Tahoe. I am sad cause I'm not in walking distance. You need to find a school in or right near a sick ass ski town, especially if you want to make it in the ski movie industry. Dude I ski in Tahoe and there are people I see skiing around that could make it in a film. Go where the talent is, meet people and do what you know is best.

im pretty sure you answered your question on your own. GO OUT WEST, its not worth it to be stuck somewhere you dont want to be for four years. coming from someone who is in the same situation, but i am a sophmore in college, and at umass amherst,i came here and didnt go out west. and its kind of a bummer

dude speaking from personal experience and being from the south shore massachusetts and then moving to all over the place, do what you think will make you happiest. because thats what really matters.

sounds like you are already leaning towards one decision anyways...and whats the point of going to the film school if you can't put it to use? go where you want to go and have fun thats what college is for....

says the fresman in high school so maybe dont even listen to me, those are jsut my views

You should do what makes you happy-I would go out west if I were you, you can major in film studies and ski and have a good time. This will be your home for 4 years, you want to enjoy it.

I've been really looking into Montana state and i noticed that most of the people that go there don't stay at the college dorms. Is there a reason for this. Also how far away are the mountains from Montana State, can you see them from the college?

Same questions for Western state of colorado
