has anyone else struggled trying to spin/hit rails in the opposite direction of the way they're comfortable? I usually spin left and hit rails left foot uphill but I never feel in control when I switch it up. any tips ?

just gotta practice (and for some reason, for me, it's easier to slide rails my unnatural way when i spin into the rail)

also just fyi people usually refer to it as "right foot forward" or "left foot forward" rather than saying which foot is UPHILL

Same here I can 270 on to a rail and ride it no problem but if I try to 90 on unnatural I can't do shit. Odd haha

yeah it's the goofiest thing. might be as simple as that it's a beneficial distraction, the way sometimes you flail or panic less on a trick rather than a straight air. sometimes i'd even do a lipslide as a substitute distraction haha.... nowadays my solution is fuck that, i aint gettin paid to ski, i'll just hit it normally or spin in

very welcome! ideally you can just repeatedly hit a rail and learn and learn. most tricks have some key pointers but honestly unnatural slides ya just gotta practice. it's like throwing with your left hand. but, as with all skiing stuff, watching a video of yourself (or showing it to us) is the best way to identify what you're doing wrong

For sliding rails, there is a huge difference. Spinning left or right just takes a bit to get comfortable.

When you slide a rail your forward foot is the main focus. You use it to grip and set the spin. Where the back foot is used like a post. So moving your other foot forward and getting used to the small movements that are required to scissor take a bit
