ON3P ski Help

I am looking into getting a pair of On3P skis, right now I ski the Line Chronics with the all orange graphic in a 171 length. I am trying to decided if i should get the Filthy rich or the Kartel 98 can't decided what size yet either

5'10''-5'11''

200-210 LBS.

Location- Maryland, Pennsylvania, Small mountain, Making a trip up north this winter

Ski a lot of park and also a lot of mountain and finding jibs and things within the trees and along the sides of the trails everywhere. make the most fun out of a small mountain.

I need help picking between these 2 skis PLEASE HELP ME!!! and give me a size also!!!!

As far as size goes you should consider going a size up because both skis have loads of rocker. For example, if you like the size of your 171 chronics You should consider going with the 176 K98/FR at least.

Scotty_Boy nailed it with the size. Also I'm 5'8 ish and when i emailed on3p about what size i should get they said i might even consider the 181 instead of 176 if i had the skill. But for sure size up. As on which of the two your should go for, id say its a toss up. East cost is pretty icey from what i understand and the skinnier waist of the filthy rich would probably handle that better.

Trying to decide between the Filthy and the Kartel 98 depends on a couple things. Based on how much you're in/out of the park, either one would work. So the question becomes one of preference.

Do you want a lighter, more nimble ski that is easier to swing and spin? Would you rather be center mounted? Then go Filthy.

Would you prefer the stability of a wider park ski with a hair more swing weight but better performance in soft snow (both pow and slush)? Would you like the option of mounting it more traditionally (-1" from true center, for example)? Then go Kartel 98.

As to sizing, do you feel like you overpower your Chronics at that length? If so, go up to 176 or 181. I'm 5'8" and 190 and have been skiing park on 186 Jefferies, so it's all about your preference and ability there.

Hit me up with any other questions.

with the Kartels are you not suppose to center mount them? I have my chronics center mounted now. I do want the low swing weight but I like the stableness of my chronics that I have on rails, and the kartel i like the width for the better ride in the slush and pow not that it happens all the time but sometime mainly its the slush and super soft snow or ICE. i wish i could demo a pair before I buy them

They're not symmetrical and if you center mount them they won't ski as well all mountain. The whole purpose of the Kartel is a ski that will shred the park and all other conditions outside the park, if you center them you will lose a some of that all mnt performance. Back 1 or 2 cm would be better because you'd keep the all mnt performance while still being able to ski switch without issues.

The Filthy Riches though I definitely mount center because they're symmetrical.

imo the kartels are too fat for me i really dont like the ski in the park if its 95 or over just to heavy and too bulky i guess

get the filthys

Based on your description of riding everything and your desire to "make the most fun out of a small mountain" I'd personally go with the Kartels.

If I want something to ride everywhere, a center mounted, symmetrical park ski wouldn't be my first choice.

And at your size (height/weight) I'd go with a 181 unless you don't consider yourself a strong aggressive skier, or if you really enjoy your skis short.

Im the same height and weigh less than you and have bought the 181 Kartel 98's. Sounds like your mountain is more suited to the FR's though.

You can mount them at whatever mark you want, just like any ski. However, the sidecut and consequently the recommended mount mark is not at center on the Kartels.

Just got the numbers:

Karl rides his Kartels -1cm from true center.

Recommended mound point for 181 Kartel 98 is -4cm from center.
