On3p kartel 108, 98, or line blend

I'm looking to buy new skis this year and have narrowed it down to these three.

Currently skiing an older set of 179cm k2 twin tips probably around an 85 waist and full camber.

I am 6ft 180lbs and am an intermediate skier trying to get a bunch this winter and improve.

I ski all around the mountain with limited laps in the park.

I want a ski that will allow me to ski powder, crud, groomers, jumps, trees, and cliffs.

also, what length would work for my height, weight, and ability? thinking between 178 and 186.

181 kartel 98s are probably to ski for you

You get to support on3p which is right out of portland! you could probably go pick up the skis in person from the guys who made them.

For your body size and ability 181 is a perfect fit. I suggest the 98s over the 108 because of your ride style and previous ski experience. making the jump to 108 might be too much coming from 85s.

The 98s will also be much more manueverable for you in variable conditions.

hope this helps. enjoy your new skis!

I'd go for the 108s depending on where you ski. I bought the 98s last year and wish I would've gone for the 106s. Not that the 98s are a bad ski but I am now living in Florida so 99% of my skiing will be done on trips to Colorado, Utah, or California.

If you're an east coaster then go 98s, if you live out west or expect to take multiple trips each year then go for the 108s. They will likely do everything you want in the park and on groomers and give you that extra width for the days with fresh.

How much of a difference in float between the 108 and 98? I definitely don't want to limit myself by getting a skinnier ski but don't want something that is so wide that I struggle to control.

I'm not sure considering I haven't skied the 108. I know there are some members who have skied both and hopefully they can chime in. I really don't see the 108 being any more difficult to control and if they are you'll probably get used to them pretty quickly.

I had the same decision to make and went with the 98 over the 108, just because its a little quicker edge to edge and possibly a little better in the park. I ski in the european alps though, so i spend a fair amount of days on groomed runs.

OP if you live in the PNW just pick up the demo skis at ON3P factory in Portland. They demo the skis there. See what ski you like the best.

Think about it, while the wider ski may lack performance on hard snow, they'll still be fun, plus the good days will just be better in the pow.
