On3p Filthy Rich vs. Moment vice

Title says all. I ski 75% park 25% all mountain. Im quite interested in the rockered park ski. Looking for durability, lightness, and ski with a lot of pop. I also enjoy a stiffer ski. Anybody have any pic of the rocker profile of these skis. would be greatly appreciated. Do either of these skis match my need. Thanks a bunch! +k for help

inb4 stose says moments suck and the rest of ns blindly recommends on3p.

Not to familiar with either ski really but that being said I want to say the FR's would be stiffer.

For what it's worth I have blue steeled which are similar to filthy riches but the rocker profiles are slightly different and the blue steeles have massive rocker for a park ski they are also plenty stiff if you wish to take out of the park and hit large jumps. I would recommend the filthys over the vices Simpy because the filthys are wider and would do better out side of the park

Moment PB&J might be more what your lookin for. its a bit wider than the vice and would do better outside the park, definitely worth looking into if you dont mind a wider ski (dont be scared of the width, i ride my lizzies everywhere (110 underfoot) and fucking looooove them)

I love my filthy's! Huge pop! definitely super durable, and very light (even with fks bindings)! I recommend them to anyone wanting a park ski! They do carve very well.for a rockered park ski

I personally feel that the FR's are overrated. People like the company for the company and I dont feel like the company for the skis in a way, not for all of them, but a lot. I personally Think that you should look into Moment more because nobody says taht they arent good skis, just that durablilty is spotty, which I have a hard time believing.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
To the OP:
Both On3p and Moment are high quality boutique ski manufacturers and make a fantastic product using very similar materials (uhmw sidewalls, durasurf sintered bases, super thick edges, 3/4 wrap edges to avoid delamination, etc.). Some people on this site talk of Moment having shitty durability, although I don't know how much credence I'd give that; that may very well be due to a lack of edge detuning or other typical mistreatment as opposed to low manufacturing quality. The main difference I see between Moment's and On3p's constructions is that On3p uses a bamboo core and Moment uses various other core materials (I want to say aspen in some skis, pine in others, although I'm not sure. I just know that they don't use bamboo). In terms of the two specific skis, both the vice and FR will have very similar rocker camber rocker profiles; slightly larger than the industry standard for rockered park skis, with a decent amount of camber and a mid-stiff flex. In that respect, they are very similar. Vices are slightly narrower underfoot (half a centimeter), and are slightly tapered, while FR's are untapered. Also, FR's have an elliptical rocker profile and elliptical sidecut, meaning that the sidecut is tighter (17m) in the tip and tail than in the underfoot section (19m). This, combined with the rocker means that the further you lay them over on edge, the more of the tip and tail sidecut is engaged and the tighter turn they'll make. I believe vices just have a standard rocker profile and fixed radius sidecut. I, personally, would go with the FR because I like the feel of a bamboo core, I am intrigued by the concept of elliptical rocker and sidecut, especially for carving off the lips of jumps, I have had positive experiences with On3p before (I own a pair of caylors and they're the best ski's I've ever ridden) and I'd like to keep supporting the brand, I like a little bit wider profile in the park, and I like a symmetrical park ski (vices are slightly asymmetrical). But that's just me. Go for what ever sounds good to you given the aforementioned attributes.
Hope this helps,
Isak

For my next pair of skis i'm also looking at the on3p FR's. i looked into buying some moment vices at a clear out sale last year and i ended up getting a pair of line blends. i dont mind a wider park ski and the FR seems like a way better choice. Moment does make some sweet skis tho, heck buy em both if you can afford it.

I would love to know what is so stupid about what I said. it is a known fact that NSers blindly vote for ON3P just because. Some people do actually have reasons, but there is no real support for a lot of people saying that ON3P is the best brand and that you should always get FR's or Caylors or whatever skiing type you like. You gave actual reasons and didnt just say that ON3P is the best and most other brands suck. I appreciate your knowledge of reason and saying that Moment does make quality skis. I just dont see how I state a something stupid

What you had to say may not have been dumb, but the way you phrased your statement made it seem like you were trying to say "don't get FRs because they're too hyped, instead get vices because they're not hyped, but no one says they're bad." and you were essentially blintly advocating for moment over on3p in the same way as the people always advocate for on3p. and why would you recommend a ski that has been reported to have durability issues over a ski thats known to have top notch durability just for the brand? there was just no factual information or basis in your statement and that's why I had a problem with it. No personal offense intended.

I know for a fact that ALL ski brands have issues of every kind, so that is why I dont think everyone should say that ON3P's are so much better. I do agree, after reading it over again, that it sounds a little like im being a hypocrite, but I assure you that I dont have enough personal experience with Moment so that is not what I am trying to do. I am also saying that it is hard to believe that Moment has reportedly so many durability issues. That is all.

I agree that a person should look beyond the hype and consider any brand in making a decision like this and that moment in specific has probably unjustly been labeled to have durability problems. I just had a problem with the way you worded your original post.

Moment really truly does have durability issues. They are okay skis but I see them break so often

I just got some moment reno's this year. love em, great ski. good amount of flex. not too buttery. that being said, i've skied rails 20 out of 30 days this season and have approx 5 edge cracks. otherwise a sick ski.

Can't vouch for the vices in perticular but I love my jibs and moment is a awesome company, no matter what Stose says

...no one wants to hear your constant hate on moment durability. We get it, you've seen soooo many moment skis brake hahahaha.

I am about to buy a pair of moment vices 185 and next year I am buying some 186 FRs.. I opted for both hahaha good lukc OP i hope u find ur answer, personally i am a huge fan of the FR

I feel like I see threads like this a lot. I know this is an old thread but whoever comes back to this thread. I own a pair of Moment Vice and am going back for a second pair whenever mine get worn out. I've ridden the FR for a few laps and enjoyed the also, but couldn't say enough experience them to give a full review. The Vice is a stiffer flex, but quite playful for it. The Filthy Rich has easier butters and is a little softer, little snappy like the Vice. Both have literally like the same amount of rocker, I felt no difference. I'd really say the difference is the was it width and flex from riding for 3 laps or whatever it was. You cant pick a wrong ski here. My Moment's are lasting better than my buddies FR's that i rode but he's trashed his a little more than I have. Both have really good durability. Sometimes I hear about Moment's shitty durability and that simply isn't true. Ive seen 3 FR's retire before I've retired my Vice and honestly vice-versa.
