On3p Filthy Rich vs Ar7

Aight, so I already made a thread about this but I made a boring title and barely anyone replied XD. I am 5'4, 100 lbs and I ski in the PNW. I will have 169 Hellbents as my pow ski so this ski should be for primarily park but still able to rip the groomers/moguls on those rare-ish occasions. I am definitely an expert skier but a beginner/intermediate in the park. I have some Marker Griffons that I will be mounting on these. Also, these skis ARE FOR NEXT YEAR so I WILL GROW.

+K to other suggestions

+K to length suggestions (I was thinking 171 FR or 166 Ar7.)

filthy rich is you want to just slay park day! fantastic ski! however, i would go the ar7 because they are a better ski all round and can still kill in the park!!
 
AR7 sound like the ticket... but i am an Armada whore.

They do come in a 171 too, i would go 171 if you're gonna grow. Especially as Armada measure their skis before they are pressed, so a few centimetres are lost. I'm about 5,11" and I've got 181's they're perfect.
 
i've never ridden either of those skis. but the ar7's are camber and the on3p's are rockered. they will ride and feel about the same length. maybe a little harder to swing on to rails with the 171, but being rockered. it will feel about the same. cheers!
 
I'd go with the AR7 if you want to be able to rip groomers as well, they are stiffer though which might be an issue if you're only 100lbs
 
Seems like the AR7's will be your best choice. Nice flex pattern with positive camber, that will hold up well. FR's still look like an awesome ski too though!
 
I'm not really sure why people compare a reputable, small company that makes a handmade product to mass production companies like armada or whatever so often. Not saying armada doesn't make a great product, but the company (ON3P) that has its skis handmade by the company owners is going to be the clear choice.

 
Why will the AR7 perform better all mountain? I have not skied it, so I don't know, but if anyone has skied both, I think their input would be great. If you have not skied both, might be best to keep mum on this one, or atleast state what you knowledge is based off of.
 
Or maybe On3p Jeronimos? I'm not sure, because I want something that is gonna be great for park and I already have a pair of skis for soft snow days.
 
I have skied both...the FRs are so much more fun to carve around on. That ski made me fall back in love with groomers. Ar7s are ok, don't get me wrong, but there's just something special about the FRs....just the way they can carve tight turns then rail out wide arcs then when you put a little heel into them they can slash and surf whatever kind of snow you're skiing on, I've never really felt a park ski like it to be honest.

OP, if you already have a ski for powder and are mainly looking for something that can kill the park and still rail groomers just stick with the Filthy Rich. The JMO is meant to be more of a "Quiver of 1" ski.
 
Depends on if you think you're gonna grow. I had them in 171 this year (I'm 5'8" 170ish) and they were fine, I wish I had gotten them longer (I'm probably getting 181s next year, or at least 176s). If you think you're gonna grow a lot over the summer, get 176s, if not or you're not worried about them being too short, get 171s. But you don't worry about them being too long, that's for sure.
 
Aight thanks I was looking to get a pair now since they're one sale so obviously I will get the 171, and my skis this year were 158 so they'll be fine.
 
I have own both. (Had 2 pairs of ar7s last season, delamed first pair and snapped second, Now use the 2 remaining skis for pipe) (Have frs as park beaters this season)

Ar7s are fun for the first 5 days. Then they are poppy, snappy and fun, after that its all downhill.

They carve okey and dont work for pow.

the filthys are damn fun still after about 40-50 days on em. Still as fun as the first day. They carve like champs(To small of a turn radius for my liking tho) And actually do pretty good in small dumps.

They arent even in the same league of skis.
 
i've only skied ar5s never the 7s. everyone ahead of me has already said it but fr are truly in a different league than the armadas. the just perform. stiff, playful and durable man. and I'd recommend going bigger if there is any doubt the 171's arent big enough
 
If I'm going to be skiing a little bit more bumps, trees, steeps, etc then I expected should I go with the Jeronimo? For days when it's not quite deep enough to bring out the Hellbents?
 
i would highly recommend the Jmos. Had mine all season and I absolutely love them. so playful yet still there for you and carve like a dream. my favorite ski i've ever skied on
 
Honestly, if you're definitely an expert skier outside of park, I think you would have no problem managing a symmetrical, centered mounted park ski in bumps and trees. I have not skied the FR's, or any On3p ski for that matter but may have to try them out when my current pair breaks down based on everyone's input on the skis.
 
it also depends how much cash your willing to drop on a ski (or your parents)

i been trying to find some cheaper skis for park lately like last years models since they are like $400 cheaper and they still work pretty much just as good. especially if you are new to the park i think you would want to get a cheaper pairs cause you'll tear em up and wreck them on the rails, you don't wanna drop shitloads of cash when you might just destroy
 
The Jmo is a better all-mtn ski than the FR (because it's wider), but it's not as quick in the park. So if you want more park performance with a little bit of sacrifice on the rest of the hill, FR. If you want better all-mtn characteristics, then go with the Jmo.
171 in either ski.
 
Thanks still unsure though. I've narrowed it down to either Filthy Rich or Jeronimo. I'm starting to think Jmos because it will be better on those days where it isn't deep enough to bring out the Hellbents (4-8in of fresh). Thoughts?
 
If you have Hellbents, they'll work just fine in everything 6" and deeper. Jmos handle everything 6" and less.
 
I don't actually own the Hellbents yet. I could buy Jeronimos and use them for everything? Or will they not float in deeper snow?
 
*Lesson. And I totally agree. Hell, I could ski 2 ft of new snow with my current skis (80mm waist) and still have a fun time. It just makes it easier and more fun on fatter skis.
 
Are the filthy riches too stiff for a person coming from after bangs and being only 100lbs? Or does the rocker make them more playful?
 
both are good. ar7s are snappy, fun big jump ski. they prefer harder snow not slush.

fr's are solid, stable, and well built.

you will be happy either way.
