I won’t get too into it but basically my life is great but I get bored really easily. Any time I’m idle I get on my phone to scroll ns and Reddit. I used to get really guilty and anxious about my screen time but now I’m just like chillin? Im taking care of my responsibilities and running my company the best I can, but also completely lethargic when it comes to my free time (i got depression). Anyone else been so depressed/unmotivated that they come full circle on screen time? I’m just glad I’m not miserable atm

Theres killing time with a phone, then there is playing with the phone for 8 straight hours everyday.

you can feel naked without a phone and then there is I panic and yell and anyone beside me because my phone isnt on me. So yeah, there is healthy and there is pathology. I dont think ya got a problem.

My job is remote and dont have cell or internet service for a month. Having a phone was pointless and having it increases the risk of breaking it. Tankers is strickter. No phones. Period. Im glad I dont withdraw from my phone although it is an adjustment.

Yes, just let it become apart of your life and accept the fact that you cant do without it. Be complacent with your increasing screen time. Spending time on reddit and the internet is good for you. The depression/unmotivated feelings have nothing to do with it.

Thanks man

I'm kind of in the same boat dude, I definitely kill time in the night watching tv and youtube. I often get guilty about it because I think of all these cool things I want to do and learn and I have the time but I spend it on the tech instead and regret it. I was in a correctional facility when I was younger and there was no tech obviously right, so I spent all my free time reading, working out, and just sittin relaxing and thinking. It was amazing man, much more fulfilling and enjoyable but it's hard when the screens are right there and so easy to get some entertainment. It's entertainment addiction really...

Lately I try to end my day by turning the screens off and doing something cool, even for 10 minutes. Lately it's been yoga. Maybe try that out? Just 10 minutes.

Dude this is the way. I started doing breath holds and other breathing exercises like 4 months ago and now I can hold my breath for almost 2.5 mins. It's so sick, I also started doing rythmic breathing while exersising and resting too, and it helps me fall asleep and helps with enurance while exercising.

Thats awesome dude!

I’ve just ended up deleting all the scrolling apps from my phone, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, YouTube. The only app I really have is this one lol. I do download Instagram once a week just to check it but then I delete it.

Main reason for this was the ease of access to dopamine makes delayed gratification tasks harder. So if I make to easy dopamine harder to get (deleting the app), then it makes reading books, working out, and doing work much easier. My screen time is a quarter of what it used to be.

OP if you feel that bad about it get a flip phone. I just downgraded and it rocks. Still has maps and music, and a camera (even tho its kinda lousy) plus its cheaper month to month. My homies just email me my clips now and I check ig after work.. deleted every other social platform. My attention span and seratonin are returning big time, I've read like 5 books and started a bunch of projects since switching like a month and a half ago.

dumb phones, smart people > smart phones, dumb people

you can just block apps and lock them behind a pin #.

That's what I did with my iphone, no YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, Amazon, Instagram, NewSchoolers...etc

Work out. I struggle with lethargy and boredom and working out not only helps fill some of that free time, but it makes me feel less lethargic in other times. Also helps with my mental problems. And skiing of course.

Find things to fill the void that aren't phone. Find a new way to get bread, make a bot that uploads snap stories and youtube shorts for that sweet sweet ad revenue. Panhandle at your local Whole Foods, a sad story really pulls on the heart strings of passers by. Refurbish a bike and sell on craigslist. Flame people that ask for too much money on Snowshare (Gotta wait til jan 15).

Real talk if I feel lethargic or anxious I ride my bike in the woods until I don't feel that way anymore.

In our defense I think NSers and Reddit are pretty good things to waste time on. Sure some people can be toxic *cough* skierman *cough* but we’re here to socialize with similar people. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t go on NS/Reddit to feel shitty about my life go like others do when they go on Snapchat/TikTok/IG following people they wish they were. Skiers always been throwing down but I’m happy with my little 540s in my life.

tl;dr could be worse
