Olympics 2022 - Big Air

Wild comp. Definitely great entertainment. I wish Tess didn’t get so down on herself at the end . A silver is respectable especially with such high scores . Maybe she was just like me and crying because Gu won. Tough go on that.

If she’s crying because to her she’s letting down her recently passed father that’s sad. If she’s crying because Gu won that’s pretty funny, for more than one reason

Not about to dump on an 18 year old girl who probably made a really large decision without understanding all the implications. But damn I'm bummed Eileen won.

On a separate note, I'd kill someone if Mathilde asked me to

Also did Gu win with a forward dub 14 and 16? Or did they replace the 14 with the 16 score? Either way pretty crazy finish.

Crazy last few hits

idk why the venue is getting so much hate i love the stadium vibe with the dystopian steel factory shit in the background, feels like the last level in a proskater game

Pretty sure it was a right 14 and a left 16. Which is absolutely bonkers.

It was pretty awkward with Gu trying to console her, but it would also look weird if she just stood on the side smiling for the camera the whole time.

The level of riding was great to see, ladies really pushing it this year

Yeah, not sure how somebody was saying the women's sport is 15 years behind the men's when this was the case. That was a great final, really - the only judging I thought was questionable was Olivia Asselin's screaming seaman kangaroo flip, but it wouldn't have changed the podium, and pretty much every skier put down the tricks they were looking to.

One of my favorite jumps was a landing in the semis where the ski popped off on landing due to just impact it looked like, the landing was solid and the girl held it. They scored it super low and Im going that’s amazing to stay up on that, what a great dig out of that!

I get it regarding the score but when that’s one of the “failures to score” it really shows how unbelievably insanely good the entire field is.

Anyone know why harlaut is on old b dogs with rental poles? Did they lose his bags or is he on some wolferman shit rocking years old skis?

Yeah, I was pleased to see the level tbh, but I'll admit I wasn't expecting much. I haven't watched a women comp in a while, but just a few years ago it'd be the same tricks winning year over year, no grab or missed grabs all over the place, etc. so watching women comp used to be so underwhelming, but it seems the girls are finally pushing each other and raising the bar, nice to see. That being said I'd like to see different grabs, safety fest is zzz.

I think Bobby was winning the X games 12 years ago with a dub misty 16 mute tho, so the gap is still fairly wide, but hopefully getting narrower.

Just a guess but the yellow skis match the team sweden kit.

On a separate note, would soft skis like bdogs ease the impact of huge jumps by flexing? If not I’ve always wondered why henrik uses jib skis in big air (edollos included)

Henrik can do whatever he wants because he's Henrik

If they are going to host the Olympics in a city hours away from skiing (which they frequently do) the concept of a city big air is fine with me and keeps the action closer to where most people are.

Fuck fuck fuck peacock for playing two ads after every jump so far

I've only seen one add so far.

But was watching snowboard slope replay earlier and it asked several times mid run if i wanted to continue watching or start from the beginning. Like yo im watching this fuck off.

I just logged in for the first time in 5+ years to comment how absolute shite the younger commentator is.. You threw a triple 18 that you tweaked out to mars and landed clean? Well you let go of your grab before the 3rd cork and your landing spray was too visible so you're trash.

Not really feeling the camera angles. I get that the spot is tough because its a narrow thing in the air but it's not as nice to watch imo.

Why do they scratch the top and lowest score?

Eliminates the outliers. Very common practice in sports with similar judging structure such as diving.

Literally no matter what trick just happened or what they're talking about, this guy has got to talk about the grab like its the basis of each run. Fuck the olympics
