olympic snowboarding, halfpipe finals - unreal

weeeeeeeiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrddddd. i logged on as fakiedropdude and was somehow transformed into moreno. i posted that olympic snowboarding thing.

i now see that snowboarders are on a totally different level than skiers. incredibly huge and smooth. good tweaks and huge, huge, huge.

they did some sketchy 10:s though, some jumps would have been better with a lower spin.

so how do you all think snowboarding works with FIS rules?

they have defined style in a way as in moguls. height, standard airs, rotation, overall impression.

cuz a fast 1080 scores really good even if it doesn´t look the best. but i guess overall point takes care of that. it seemed to work really well except for some weird points.

i liked the japanese guy, 17, he went so unbelievably freakin huge and smooth on his flips. kinda weird that his standard airs were a bit sketchy then.

definitely one of the most wicked comps i´ve seen, i am so impressed.

what, the judgin sucsk totally dude, horrible, never ever would i like to compete with that system,each country had a a different aspect to judge, it sucked man, three categories was liek air, aplitude and rotation, and then overall impression, i thought it sucked, for any competition they should just rate the run, eg. that run was rad, he deserves 1st, or oh he threw come cool tricks but he lacked style, lets give him second, not the he got 8.901837562 on amplitude, and 3.498398129871 on rotation, screw that, it just my opinion though

don't do sleep and get 8 hours of drugs
 
yeah but how do you judge freeSTYLE?

yeah sure some points were way wrong but overall i think actually the best runs got the best score and it was fair.

has anyone ever been happy with the judging in a newschool/snowboard comp?

(in the qualifier) I thought it was great how all the judges gave ross (or some other american) all like 9.whatevers and the japanese judge was giving like 4.5s and stuff...wierd

funny observation - the boarders arn't wearing helmets. Anyone else find it odd that the IOC doesn't make them wear helmets?

another observation.

american channel. every american rider is shown 3 runs. 2 runs from other countries. this was over like 45 mins.

americans never show any other countries in the olympics. mostly just them.

CBC olympic coverage is best.

Freestyla-they show the favorites, in pipe the favorites were the americans, and yes even if the americans arent the best they will obviously show their run or whatever because thats what americans want to see, just like Id want to see vinnie no matter how many times he crashes or what his score is, NBC just knows this and they try and give you what you want. They changed it up considerably from the last olympics, a lot of that backround story shit is left out and its more event heavy.

As for what I think about judging, look at my article. Basically tho I think it was good, I mean xgames judges judge the same way, FIS style just breaks it down easier. Like the xgames judges will say, man that run was sick, huge smooth 7 but the 1080 was kinda sketch so he'll be second. FIS judging- 8amplitude, 9 rotation, 7.5 overall impression (style) which puts him in second. So you see the same end result occurs, and style is definitely taken into consideration. If you spin like a ballerina but its sketchy then yeah maybe youll get a good rotation score but the impression score will bring you back down.

did anyone notice trevor andrew give the crowd a thumbs up on his fronts side air in his last run in the finals that was kinda cool and ross and the japanese dude did go huge. I thought is was a good event overall. You just gotta not worry bout who wins and enjoy the riding. danny kass was ripping dude that kassaroll was tick.
