Olympic Slopestyle Rules

If there are a bunch of new rules instituted for Olympic slopestyle, will they translate over to our everyday park sesh and ruin the vibes? Completely take away the easy tricks that look cool and replace them with techy shit? Commentate.

yes, full aerodynamic suites will be required, along with fullface helmets. No inverts allowed except for triples, and all rails or boxes other than cannon features will removed from the sport. You will also be judged on how your tricks, and how tightly you keep your knees together the hole time. Along with this, in the olympics slopestyle will be a timed event, where your time matters more than your score

People need to stop scaremongering about how olympic slopestyle is going to ruin freeskiing. Freeskiing is what you make it and as long as your doin your own thing and having fun and not 3ft up your ass about comps and an competing nothings gonna change. I realise your just putting the thought out there for discussion but the fact you thought of it means a part of you believes it. If the olympic comittee take it seriously they will get the people who judge things like x games and get them to judge it as they know whats what and try to keep format, judging and "rules" the same so it fits in with the rest of the competition series.

Olympics will have no effect on an everyday park sesh, or anything else relating to what you do at the mountain. Hopefully the IOC doesn't institute any rules in an attempt to regulate the sport, but even if they do that doesnt really effect anyone besides the skiers participating in the Olympics.

and your arms must be in the upright position prior to take off.

i personally think freeskiing is gonna get so popular in the olympics that it will edge our aerials, which will altogether cease to be an event eventually because tricks on twintips is just so much cooler and more interesting to watch.

Arials must be pissed that slope got in... Once people see how much more fun slope is airals will be like rollerblading lol

It won't affect your daily/typical park sesh too much, but there will undoubtedly be some impact on the way some new bloods use/view/utilize the park; for a few, it will become training. It will be overly serious. Big deal.

so far the IOC has determined:

No hand/gang signs

NO AFTERBANG

No article of clothing that touches below your butt

All competitors skiing with an Ipod must listen to alt rock and NO WU TANG

i heard that only fis regulated GS skis will be allowed in the olympic slopsetyle contests....can anyone confirm ?

Nah I don't really think so. I think the athletes that are focused and competitive enough to make it on an olympic team will have no problem not smoking for a while to pass a piss test. Everyone else will just continue to do what they do.

this, ive talked to people who have hung out with sammy before his comp season, and everyone says he stops smoking before dew tour and xgames every year. so i feel like other pros will have no problem

i don't really see how they can "regulate" so to speak. sure there will be a standard scoring system in place. it was recently implemented and it's pretty much the same type of system as almost all events. suits will be designed by each country's governing body so don't expect athletes to be wearing a ghetto gown or tight pants. the olympics will be be done with professionalism in mind.

why should olympic slopestyle be a negative thing for skiing? FIS is working closely with a lot of ex-pro skiers to develop systems that keep the "free" in freestyle skiing.

just my two cents.

sorry bro, but if you dont have 3 FT up your ass about comps, you wont be on the olympic team.

and everything will change. this aint the xgames.

and it wont be freeskiing anymore thats for sure....

freeskiing competition....doesnt make sense and makes even less sense in the olympics, that little thing the sport was running away from.

njoy

if so please educate me on what the olympics has done to change sports which were introduced.

Its funny you say i wont get into olympics cos a couple of days ago i saw an article in bbc news (im from the uk) and it showed somebody who was going to compete at slopestyle doing a frontflip and i just thought "if thats the standard they are expecting for olympic slopestyle, uk are gonna get raped" (-woodsy, he rips) so in a way id rather not compete.

there will always be competitions its human nature to cempete to be the best at something.

i heard that from now on that every park will be flat box, cannon box, three jumps. Thats it thats all.

But no really, i was talking to Sammy Carlson a few days ago and he said he was on the board for freeskiing in the olympics and he said nothing like this would happen which gave me some confidence.

im gonna ignore everything everyone said in this thread and just assume the title of it meant "Olympic Slopestyle Rules!" like "O'Doyle Rules!"

heads up to everyone and this is LEGIT, Sponsors are not allowed in the olympics so all riders will be wearing the same jackets and pants from the same company. Also helmets will not have stickers and stickers on skis is questionable
