Olenick's whiskey flip: I can't believe the judges are buying it!

Olenick should NOT have podiumed at x games or the second stop of the ski tour at breck. Here's why: 1) He cannot stomp the "whiskey flip" cleanly. At X games he landed flat every time and sat down or dragged a hand. At breck he landed facing straight down the pipe essentially sliding sideways into the transition because he hardly rotated. 2) He is doing a double backflip with about a 90 degree turn at the very end, and not even attempting to grab! This is not the direction we want our sport going! 3) The rest of his run is terrible! He never grabs and he lands his first hit in the flat bottom and skiing straight down the pipe so he has to turn in the flat bottom and milk the bottom of the pipe to get as many hits as the other competitors.

Peter, I know you want to win but you are doing terrible things to our sport!

Don't Support the Whiskey Flip!

I'm sure he isn't too concerned with the direction of pipe skiing with the money that he gets for getting on the podium, and so far I'm sure it's been a good year for him.

why don't we want our sport to go in this direction? Going huge is exactly where skiing is (and should) be going. Olenick is the man.

i do think the "whiskey flip" should be titled "double back late 180"...

but i also do think his 10 at the bottom at X was the best one i saw, so i do and don't agree.

yea your totally right, he should just stop doing it because some noob on NS says its gay, even though it is fucking incredibal.

I support Olenick all the way, and where he is pushing halp pipe skiing.

Not doing the double flip is stupid, no one else is throwing it, is it progressive for him to throw a 540 first hit like everyone else? hell no!

ofcourse he's not sticking it yet in comps, he only learned the trick around a month ago, give him a fucking break, he's doing two flips.

and you really shouldnt talk shit on the rest of his run, i bet you couldnt pull one trick he did in his entire run.

breck was gay...i think it should of been andreas gold...olenick silver....and tanner bronze...

Andreas for sure had the first place run in my mind. most tech on spins, switch, grabs, rotation direction, blah blah...

Peter O had a dope run, only complaint is grabs, not one solid held grab.

ya he had the smoothest 10s with nice tails. Much better than tanners and simons. The flip was sketchy but he was the 1st to do it at x, any sport.

He's done the trick a few times where's it's def a double flat. The thing that makes it so sick is it's the first hit of his run. If he doesn't land perfectly, his "amplitude" is shot for the rest of the run. It multiplies the technical aspect of his run immensely. Big tricks on the first hit are very very risky.

dude shut the fuck up if u notice when he is not in comps he stomps them... at the x there is 2 much pressure in comps on the competitors so just shut the fuck up and learn how 2 ski u nubby... who cares if he did not grab

This was a really stupid post, since Olenick pulled something a bit different. What was so wrong with it anyway? I thought it looked sick, and so was his run! Dude its looks like you put your foot in your ass on this post. Its time for all the negative talk on skiers by skiers to stop. I don't understand why you even posted this thread. It sucked.

The whiskey flip is sick, look at any video footage you can see that. Pipe skiing is going to go bigger that is for sure and the whiskey flip looks better than any of the big spins (1080+). Spinning is overated imho, I like what Pep and Andy are doing the style factor is just as important as the technical difficulty (and Pep and Andy have loads of style and tech but not in the same way as the "spin to win" people). I'd rather see the whiskey flip than a 1260 in the pipe, it just has more "wow factor"...

Are you kidding he clearly attempts and pretty much gets the safety grab at Breck, and the rest of his run is decent with some goods grabs and spins.

His breck double looked stomped better than ever, but he did miss some grabs. At x-games his grabs were solid though.

fuck you man if anythign he got robbed of the gold, because tanner and simon grabbed so well too huh? if u ask me out of the three pete deffinatly grabbed most

id like to see our sport go in this direction. With the whiskey flip, its about being ballsy and putting it all out there. I don't want to see little bitch "stylish" skiing, because frankly, i think its boring. How many slow spinning 5s can you do?

people on this site are idiots, u get mad saying that everything is spin to win, and when someone does something different you complain about that too

i think peter is killing it, and should continue too. progress is progress due. think about it. either you support progress, what ever it maybe or you dont. Either the sport is what it is and wont be anything else, or you try new things to see where it can go. Big ups to peter, im sure he will build off it, PROGRESSING again.. start throwing grabs etc.. but who knows. im glad he is doing it though.

way to make yourself look like an idiot

he did land a lil sketchy but it was hardly noticeable tanner also landed a lil scetch on one of his spins but should he have no placed

You put a hand down, you don't land the trick. It is that simple. Personally, I like it when it is steezy, but his runs at x were a bit lacking in the landing department on his whiskey flip.
