older free skiers?

I'm 24 and I caught onto freeskiing a lot more than most people my age. Most freeskiers are either 10 years younger than me or haven't heard of twintips..(I'm not kidding some lame ass I met in killington this winter hadn't even heard of them) Anybody 20+ like to hit the park, bumps, trees in Killington? I'm looking for people ride with and hit on local chicks with at the pickle barrel....

I was in the park at Vail last winter. I skied up to the inrun for the final set up ftables and found myself surrounding by 50+ 4-5 foot tall kids in hoodies and twins.. I started to get light headed so pointed it at the first table..

I'm 25, and dirt old compared to most. The way I look at it though is that skiing is like heroin, or any other drug, once you're hooked and it feels so good you just cant stop.

Whether most people on this site like it or not, the 20-30 age group should be their target market. We have disposable income and still some shred of youth...

Yea i justed turned 20 so im kinda in between so i dont feel old in the park but its cool to watch the progression over the last 6 years since i have really been into freeskiing. Most of the younger kids didnt really ge tthat expierience just heard about it!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

I'm 24 and have skied since I could walk. I just wish that freeskiing would have been an option when we were kids. It's just tougher to learn sick shit at 24 than 14, ya know?!

I remember skiing at greek peak in NY when I was 15 (and daffy's were still kinda cool) learning 3's on straight skis..didn't hurt to fall then. i would have been nice tohave had some 1080's back then or some cool videos to get ideas from..

dude when i was real young i remember only the most badass skiers were throwing 3s. The first time i saw my friend throw a 7 i thought he was completely insane, i dont think id ever seen a movie of a skier throwing a 7. everyone does this shit now though

I was staying at HostelX in JH one winter and the yshow old real-to-real ski flicks. This video from the 60's was had dudes on 200+ wooden skis and sweathers throwing double backflips....the movie was trippy...

ask if they'll show you 'Mobias Flip' or ..'Strip'..I'm not sure what it was. And look out for the giant dog..it tried to eat my multiple times..

Dude a Mobius was just a dsping basically. Yeah I'm older (23) but I started doing spins and tricks in like 95. I fried the tails of some skis to make them twinnies before the 1080 so it was possible back then, just difficult

yea im 22 and didnt start rippin twins till 2 years ago, so ive progressed like mad the past few years but i def feel like i started way to late...i agree with the guy who said its like heroin, cant stop

Im 24 and my sore muscels don;t heel as quick as they use to but im still willing to throw my body off a nice kicker and land on a nice smooth sheet of ice.......east coast is the best!!!!

I took up freesking late as well and find it hard to learn the crazy shit because im a little taller then a 14 yr old and weigh a little more then them too.

Life is tough. Get over it!!!

Mobius Flip was the name of an old school ski movie..in addition to some new school trick...check it you if you get the chance

Yeah, I feel like an old timer on this site and I'm only 22. I only discovered the 'new school' movement about 3.5 years ago. I've always been skiing, since 4 years old, but I just wasn't paying attention to freeskiing. No idea why.

Yeah I'm old (in the context of this site), and I only hit skiing hard a few years ago because I played competitive hockey growing up instead. But yeah, I'm hooked on skiing now.

well hey I'm twice as old as the oldest reply so far, I have been skiin for 47 yrs was a racer freestyler, coach, pro racer, and now have kids who are freeskiers and I love to hit the rails and go in the pipe, only thing I don't do is the big air cause the old bones don't want to get broken anymore and not too sure of hittin the landings anymore. so all you young guys in the 20's don't worry you all still have alot of years left in ya, Happy holidays to all of you on NS.com

I'm 23, have been skiing for like 20 years. I wish newschool had taken off when i was younger.

Its undoubtedly harder to learn stuff when you're bigger and less flexible.

But yeah man, a newschoolers masters division, sounds good!

Yah I'm 22 and I've been doing this stuff for years. I first heard of twins when salomon realease the first version of their 1080s. I got mine the year after and I've been hooked since. ;)

I'm not as old as undercover_skier, but still older than anyone else here. I'm frequently twice as old as the oldest kid in the park and -- I love it! I don't get any attitude, I love the energy and balls you young 'uns bring and rails are a hell of a lot more fun than skiing intermediate groomers.

The only downside is that there's no company. Joining a crew of twelve-year-olds would be a bit lame, and it's impossible to convince anyone I know over 16 to try a halfpipe.

wow didnt realize there were so many of 'us' i am 23 and have been on skis for 13 years. growing up in southern michigan on these tiny hills all the fun we were to have was in making a little kicker on the side of the run and hoping ski patrol wouldnt tear it down. i remember when lil ol mt holly got its first snowboard park. i was one of only a handful of skiers in the damn place, oh the ridicule we used to get from the boarders, but it most certainly paid off when i would throw down with a 'HELICOPTER' now thats the terminology i am used to! i think a 'masters circuit' as i think it was called above could be cool

hey, have any of you 'older' fellas considered going to (or have gone to) any of the ski camps that offer adult sessions. i know windells has an adult camp where your housing and stuff are separated from the kids. i'm just curious cuz I'd like to give it a try perhaps

undercover skier - mad respect

i'm 24, been skiing my whole life but didn't really get into the park til a couple years ago. finally figured out it's the perfect place to go when the snow isn't good, and now i swear by fat twins. yeah i'll never be a super ''ill'' park skier, but it was nice to find a new challenge after starting to get bored just riding chairlifts and skiing the same tree lines and steep stuff (since i can't even come close to affording a sled to go BC with)

definitely considered going to a high north camp, not so much to learn new tricks but more to go to whis and meet some new people, but i decided i needed to pay tuition instead. maybe i'll come across some dollars and head up there in the next couple years, i can't imagine what a camp would be like with a bunch of 15 year olds all copying each other's ''steeze.'' i'd rather go with a group of people i can legally get wasted with

Only in my sweetest dreams do my streams lack troubled waters, shallow pools full of shallow fools...

we should get a crew of NS 'oldtimers' (21 and over) to go to high north and meet up...it'd be fun as hell. then, we can get shitfaced and act like we're 15!

i have looked into the camps but i never wanted to go and by the old timer that all the kids came to to buy beer for em! if i go the money i am definitely down for goin to a camp or we make our own 'camp' skiers by day bar hounds by night

WORD. I'm in. How much do camps usually cost?

I just want to stand up and be counted. I'm like the super minority in this sport though, not only am I 25 but I'm 210 lbs. I'm constantly trying to find gear that will hold up to my weight and learning curve.

I've killed two sets of boots this year and one set of skis.

im 27.....

I'm 20, i remember sneaking into the 'snowboarders only' halfpipe years ago. I know i'm still young, but i love the comrodery i find between older (relatively speaking) freeskiers.

I'm 16. Is that considered old by the standards of this site?

Yeah scoot I would join for sure. There needs to be something else for the people that our age but they can still go out and tear it with the rest of them.
