Old School Freeze

So the other day i was working out at my gym, and i look over and what do i see, a 1998 issue of Freeze. It is probably the best mag i have ever read, reminds me so much of SKIER but a little better. No one has twins in it, but its got some of the funniest shit, like ask brad used to have a section called 5 questions with the asshole of the month. This month it was shaun paulmer lol. Though out of all the funny shit, the best would have to be this little clip:

Powder Magazine was recently purchased by none other than peterson publishing and, among other changes, is being moved to our hometown of Boulder, Colorado. In celebration of this move we hereby challenge the entire staff of Powder to race the entire Staff of FREEZE in a chinese downhill on the notorious West Ridge of Eldora Ski Area. Up for grabs is some of Boulder's special export and John Bresee's inflateable girlfriend. Step up or step out biatches.

serious, I remember skiing in 1998-99 season, hell I rememeber skiing way before that too.

life is too short to have any regrets

How many remember skiing in 1998? You're kidding right?

I still have all my old copies of Freeze, some of the first issues, they are classic. Nobody has twins.

I remember when the original 1080 came out and I saved up all my cash for a pair. I still have em, the ones with the black bases and the striped Salomon cap.

*Warning! I'm a old school skier as well, you'll find me in the steeps, trees and powder.

I am a nerd, I have every single issue of Freeze since it was born as a side note in Skiing. It is fun to page back through the published growth of what skiing is now. Remember the Powder cover from 98 with a dude from Riksgransen like 15 feet out of a quarter? That was a big change for them. How about Boards In Motion? Kreitler's short lived but super cool project from the Squaw area? Did anyone ever read that?

my oldest issue of freeze is from 2000 i will be willing to pay lots of money for the first issue message me if anyone wants to sell it

it remind me the time we couldn't enter the park cause it was a 'snowboard park'.

yeah, I remember that, the damn patrol used to make me walk back up and read the sign and yell it down to them, then I got my warning and they left, and a half an hour later I would be back.

That and getting kicked out of areas becuase I was a skier in the park (thankfully I wasn't paying for my tickets back then in those areas either - thank you intermountain ski-exchange).

I think I have all but two issues so far. I think I might have two of the first. Dont you have a 360 in one of the older ones Schmies? For some reason I remember that, cause that is right when i would of done anything to go to a summer camp.

Boards in Motion is where I first heard of twin tip skis. It was a decent little mag.

that season i was beginning to return to the goodness of skiing!

thats so rad. i wasnt making fun of anyone, it just seems like a LONG time ago. I remember seeing 1080s for the first time, and i had the black ostness dragons too, im still skiing on the red ones for rock skis, theyre sick skis.

ya old freeze rocked so much, the way they answer the letters in this issue i got is fucking halarious, they manage to include in a bunch of the answers about how Sinhue the North Face Guy is and idiot. and also some guy sent in a map of the freeze readers mind, its soooo good, theres like a section for everything.

haha, I was looking at a super old freeze recently, so dope. So crazy how much skiing has progressed!

old freezes are awesome. ive got every issue except for the first one, which really pisses me off. i remember that i was thinking about switching to boarding and my dad saw an ad for freeze in ski and he got me a subscription. as soon i got it i decided to stay a skier.

Ha ha.. Freeze has changed I think in a lot of ways. I remember the old add in Skiing Magazine. Where they showed some person with old skis on a mountain with no snow. And then there was this kid jumping and it said this 17 yr. old reads Freeze.

If you think about it skiing has evolved quite quickly in the past 5 years.
