Old school fks that mount onto a riser??

so a few months ago at a ski swap i picked up some old skis with these old fks 14 din bindings on em. I hadn't looked at them very much till today and upon taking them off the ski I discovered that the binding itself mounts onto a plastic riser that is probably like a quarter inch thing (the screw doesn't go into the ski at all just the riser thing) and then the risers mount on to the ski, the toe piece with 4 screws really far apart, similar to the heel pattern of the px stuff, and the heel riser mounts to the ski with 5 screws, 4 normal fks holes and one like 3 inches down the ski towards the tail.

anyone used this system/is it any good??? I dont want to have risers on my park skis, but I'm getting some ep pros and might use them for those since the insanely large mount pattern would make them pretty dern hard to rip out.

thoughts...

info on the performance and durability of this era would me much appreciated.

You should be able to just toss the plate and use the binding itself. You don't need a plate unless you race or something.

I know it is a bad analogy, but i found this on a pair of marker bindings too. There were different screws that mounted the binding to the riser. What i did was took the screws that mounted the riser to the ski and used those screws for the ski. I had to grind them down a bit, but it all worked out.

what all you guys are saying is what I planned to do, but what I forgot to mention is that the toe piece only uses two screws to mount to the plate, there is a slit that slides over that big screw in the middle to hold it down solid then two screws by the afd hold it in... so they wouldn't really work without the riser.

they work fine without the riser, I am having a pair mounted on scratch fs's right now. They mount the top toe screw first, slide the toepiece on and mount the other two toe screws.

Sell them to me if you don't use them please.

hmmm interesting...if I can i'll probably still save them for my ep pros since it'd be nice to have such a diesel mounting pattern... if you really want them though pm me I might sell em
