i love old punk, sex pistols, clash, buzzcocks, adverts, GBH, black flag, minor threat, and the dead boys.

if you listen hard enough they are brillant.

the sex pistols are the most brillant with rottons voice that drones and the screeching gutair of the buzzcocks.

many of the pistols songs were not put on the american album because they were just to bad. Like ''FRIGGIN IN THE RIGGIN'' or'' BELSON WAS A GAS'' (like the holocaust camp were anne franke died and there were gas chambers)

its all good fun but you have to keep in mind most of the bands don't care.

more of a fan of 80's hardcore myself, and I've always kinda thought that the Sex Pistols were overrated. Just my opinion though.
 
yeah i agree actually. my favorite old punk band is the clash. they did punk,reggae, rock, a bit of ska, and all different areas of music.
 
sex pistols are good and all but they were made they way they were by their manager. so i'm not the bigest sex pistols fan. 70's punk is all the dead boys.

ok I only listed the ones that were the face of punk. there were lots more bands that were behind the face. i was to lazy to list them.

I read a book on anarchy, punk rock, sex pistols and beyond and it really made me like the sex pistols a lot more and I bought the english version from my freind who went to the U.K. Its a lot better. If you ever see that book buy it. Its not all about the sex pistols its aboaut how it all got started. LOTS OF DETAIL FROM A GUY YOU WAS THERE.
 
^everybody knows that, it was just a great opportunity to bring up GWAR because we were..... talking about music. And when that happens, GWAR should always be mentioned. duh.
 
The Dead Milkmen are one of the greatest bands of all time!! other good old punk bands were operation ivy, nofx, social distortion, and guttermouth, a little newer but they formed in 88
 
dolls are amazing i saw em last year and theyre comin out with more stuff. they literally trigged everything you gotta love em

Buzzcocks are sick. But the new Misfits lineup is pure shit. I know a couple of people who've seen em live, it's not the same.
 
dude all malcolm mclaren did for the sex pistrols, the way they got big is the same way they were shot down, they rose up by Rottens Anger and intellegence, Sids not give a eff attituve and most importantly but most forgotten Paul cook and Steve Jones musical skills.

other great smart bands are dead kennedys, gello is one of the most political singers i have ever heard

Minor threat, with Mckays look on freedoms for the young and old

Black flag, proving how lazy some americans are

i think punk rock is probably the smartest music out there
