Old ass Gaper/ex Big Mountain skier looking to dick around in the park...what ski?

What's up NS,

So long story short I haven't skied park in about 8 years--been skiing Alta/Snowbird almost exclusively, and there is little to no park available there, plus it's no fun taking a 155mm 195cm ski into a pipe if I ski anywhere else. I'm pushing 30, so I'm pretty far from throwing dub 10s in the pipe--but my job has been taking me to places like Copper where it would be really fun to have some park skis in the quiver for general dickaroundery. I've been out of this game for a LONG time, and it would be cool to get some recommendations for a fun park stick.

About me:

5'10, 175lb

Big mountain background, so I like medium-stiff skis that can handle speed really well (not that this is all that important for a PURELY park ski I know, but I would like a ski that can still charge while still having park ski dimensions). absolutely NO idea what's out there these days, so let me know what's good and I'll check em out!

--Not that it's THAT important but I can get a lib tech and/or faction hookup, so any info about their offerings would be helpful. Not totally sold on the Magna-Traction bout would love to hear from anyone who's been on em. Also open to spending more if there's a dramatically better ski out there.

Thanks for the help!

From the Faction line-up, the Candide 1.0 in a 181 would probably be the only one worth looking at.

ON3P do the Filthy Rich in a 181 and 186

Armada's AR7 in a 181

Atomic's Punx in the 182

Those are possibly the ones I can recommend. See what others can come up with.

I have the line chronics which shred park but carve really well too and I love them... I've also ridden the rocky mountain underground diam which is a more park specific ski than the chronic but it carves amazingly... I highly suggest either one

Maybe a 184 nordica ace of spades ti, 181 moment team, 181 Rossi scratch, or (184?) volkl wall. All of those skis are pretty stiff and stable.

I couldn't disagree more. I love my freeride NAS. They're so so durable! Love the magne traction. Makes ice so much more fun. Great all mountain ski.

Another vote for the Line Chronics. A nice and stable medium-stiff flex, 93 mm waist and they carve well if you mount them a bit behind true center.

I'm quite similiar, about 6' 180 lb and in a bit over a year I'll be 30 .Landing a new trick is still one of the greatest feelings in the world for me. Bought a pair of AR7s in 181 last year which have worked well for my park/on piste needs, they carve well and so far have held up well on rails/boxes after about 20 ski days on them. However we have had quite a lot of good snow here this year so I have been skiing my Caylors about 80% of the time, and whenever I change switch to my park skis it feels like I'm on snow blades.

I don't regret the purchase, but I think I might consider getting a wider all mountain ski ala Blend, Jeronimo or maybe that new HH armada ski next year for all mountain / park use next season as I like the feel of a wider platform under my feet nowadays. But that is just my personal preference.

Good luck with your choice!

There is a few more than 2 people working for ON3P.

I would also suggest the Jeronimo, its been my park/ packed snow resort ski for the past 2 years. It's small enough to be fun in the park, but stable at speeds and can be good for laying turns if you keep the edges tuned.

For what OP wants he could go Armada El Rey. Could go 178 or 185. This would be a cheaper option. But for what op wants ( a stiffer, cheaper park ski ) this would be the ticket from my perspective.

Rossi Scratch, Armada Ar7, volkl wall are all good skis but I dont think OP wants to spend more than $400 on a ski he wont use a whole lot.
