Old ass bindings on Armada skis

Im finally buying my own pair of skis this summer and wanted to know a few things. Im getting some Armada AR6s for shure and i wanted to know if my dads old bindings will work with these skis. Theyre about 15-20 years old and are Soloman 557s on some old Rossi skis. If i took these off would these still work or fit on the Armadas or will i have to shell out 150+ to get some new ones?
 
Get new ones. Chances are that the shop won't touch the bindings also because they are too old. Maybe they will, I don't have the sheets on me that say what bindings we can't work on. Plus, the springs might not be safe so even if they do work on them, get new ones just to be safe.
 
Hahaha! If they are really new looking put them on, it'd look awesome! If bindings are too old they lose the grease in the springs and it cant be replaced, which makes them less reliable to release.
 
you're a retard why would you get 500 dollar skis and be too cheap to put a decent binding on them. go get some invaders for your noob self and put a pair of sl70s on them i bet they're in your budget.
 
You can get new bindings for $100 shipped, by new I mean brand spankin new right off a retail site.
 
theyve never really had any hard skiing on them at all...my dads only skied with them only for like a week...if that helps

 
although the 557 and 957 are some of the best bindings soloman ever made dont cheap out, if your gunna buy brand new skis buy new bindings too its just the smart thing to do, its safer and in 20 years most companys have produced a much better product and have created better technology
 
becuase im not made fucking money, im working at shit job at an icecream place just to pay for these things.

no offense, but maybe you should be using his 15-20 year old skis too. dont go out and by nice skis without bindings or boots. Boots are possibly the most important piece of equipment and i doubt the oldskool boots are going to cut it.

i would recomend that you buy some used bindings and a new pair of twins from last year and then new boots

it will be worth it in the long run
 
I'll sell you some look p10s for 50 bucks shipped. they are used, and a little beat up, but still work perfectly.

check my other thread, sellin my silencers, i snagged some fucking old Look TT9s for 5 bucks. now granted, they werent in perfect operational order, and i new what i was doing with them and restored them, and they are by far the best binding ive ever clicked into. IF you know shit, (which im guessing you dont), you can ski old bindings like that with no problem, specially all metal race bindings. they havent changed the basic mechanicals of them. but you will have to mount them yourself, and theres a good chance that they should be rebuilt and regreased.

as for the boots, THATS retarded. i wont even start on how stupid that is. dont bother buying AR6s, buy some good boots, and get a cheap ski like a chronic or something. boots are way more important.
 
no shop will mount them for you, there far too old. Just get new boots and bindings, you will be glad you did. If you worried about the cash get a loan from the rents and then get a summer job to pay them back
 
You are cheaping out on the most important part of your equipment...and that is your safety.

Putting 15 year old ass binders on AR6s is like buying a spanking brand new Porsche and putting on your grandma's tyres from here 5 days used '86 BMW.

And the boots...I wouldn't even go there!
 
I know what it is like to be broke. I also know what it is like to ski w/ shitty boots because I was too cheap to get a nice pair. Trust me, you'll be happier skiing on cheap-ass skis w/ nice boots than vice-versa.
 
plenty of guys on NS struggle for $$$, but get boots before skis man, you will thank yourself.

You will ski better with good boots on shitty skis than with shitty boots on good skis.

Jump on freezed's binding offer too if $ permit.
 
^that's not true. and you're not "cheaping" out on bindings, but it's not the smartest move. I don't doubt that if they've been taken care of, they'll work fine for you, but it's still not a smart move. Also if you're going to ask opinions, dont get mad when you get them. It might not be the opinion you wanted to hear, but it's the one you got. If you're ultimately going to do whatever you want, then don't listen to anyone on here.
 
if the bindings were still in "new" condition, just old, but perfectly functional, the only reason a ski shop wouldn't mount them would be because they dont have the proper jig for it due to it's age. Atleast that's what i've read other places. 
 
as other people said, just get cheaper skis then you can afford bindings too. oh and buy some new boots while you're at it, it will be worth it. If you cant afford them then get a job, cuz assuming you live at home and have no real living expenses it wont take very long to earn enough dough for some nice boots.
 
If you do find a shop they will mount those bindings don't get them to do it. Chances are they are so retarded they would fuck up a brand new pair of bindings. Salomon 957s and 977s are no longer indemnified, let alone 557s. Some guys occasionally use the all metal racestock 11-17 DIN 957s, but even that is rare.

There are so many places you can get good used bindings. Find one. Your knees will thank you.
 
you're a fucking retard, i work at a shop. there is a list of bindings you cannot touch because of their age, nothing more.
 
Yep, I've got some old 747's I think I might use, but they are all-metal, and it is rare for anyone to use bindings that old, although if they meet torque testing specs there wouldn't be any reason you couldn't use them, but you'd have to mount them yourself.

You should spend your money first on boots, then on skis and bindings as your budget permits.

instead of 500 dollar armadas being your first priority, buy some good boots, then good bindings, then with whats left over buy skis! You can get really good twins for under 200. and do it IN THAT ORDER! thank you.
