Okemo park suggestions

hello people , one of the Marks from Okemo here I am starting this to get input on our parks what you people think is good and bad about what we do. I will be returning next year and I try to put in affect peoples sugestions on how to set things up and what new shit we should build... so any and all input is good. Also I would like to hire atleast one skier to work in the parks so if your interested find me on the hill or contact me some how. Apply as early as possible cuz the postions get filled pretty quick. Id definilty keep and eye iopen for the first job fair thats usually in Oct.

See you on the hill !

Mark

get the guy who built the jumps for the east coast open to build all the jumps at the beginning of the year. So okemo has good jumps the entire year, not just for a month. A flat down box with long down, not like the one that was up earlier in the year. Are most walls made of wood? I would prefer something a little more slide able. Park was sick this year, much better than last years.

i thnk the wallride should be made of that stuff that like boxes are made off..it will be more useful..also better landings to the jumps..for most ofh the year..the 3 first jumps on top had short landings

Much sicker step-ups! The step-up we've got @ Okemo right now is somewhat deadly, depending on how fast you hit it...Also, bring back the hip from a few years ago that was right at the intersection of Nor'Easter and Chief -- and make it bigger! Other than that, you, Devin and the rest of the Parks crew has killed it this season! Keep up the good work boys!

the jump that replaced the step up this year is the best jump in the park. The hip this year was ridiculous. you couldnt hit it straight because it shot you up so much. i'd much rather see a nice table, rather than a hip like that. I would also like to see an improvment of the top section of nor easter, before the work road. the first jump has a short flat landing and the next two are very small.

Put a handful of smaller jumps and boxes at the top of the run to build yourself up to the big stuff at the bottom.

1,2,3...The main section of Nor’easter should start out with a bang. Start at the service road and put a 60’-80’ step down, a table that kicks you sky high and then a step up, each having an option of a smaller jump or rail.

4...Put the transfer table back, but stagger the takeoff and landings by 5’ so you have the option of a long or short transfer.

5...Try replacing the current step-up with a hip & table combo and then have the main rail section in the flat that follows.

6+...The Truth rail should go on a smaller table near the end. It would look really impressive from the ground level. End the run with another jump and some of the harder rails.

I ski to live

if you want smaller jumps to warm up on go to blind faith or hot dog hill. nor easter is the expert part with expert features. I would like to see bigger jumps at the top. I would also like see some steeper landings and more jumps like the ones put in for the ECFO.

Whats goin on ... so the season is about done here thanks for the few sugestions we got so far. Hope to hear some more. As far as next year we have learned alot this year. 2 groomers are goin out to cutters camp, so in theroy we should have better jumps next season. As far as getttin the guy from the ECFO to come here early to build stuff, well that was actually "mentioned" not definite but a possibility. There is alot of ideas we through out at the head guys, lets hope they give us everything we want. I can’t promise anyting but hopfully we will be weeding out old rails to make room for bigger and better rails. We have quite the list for rails we want to build but feel free to suggest your ideas. Well all thanks for skiing Okemo and well see ya next year.

just wanted to add if anyone is interested in working in the parks crew be sure to apply early and go to the job fair. the first one is usually in Nov. i'll post the confirmed date when I know. We definitly would like to have at least one skier on the crew , seeing as though somethings are different for you guys. well take care and see ya on the hill

nice good stuff. yea def be done with some of the old rails like the flat down box and even that 20ft straight box the coping is higher then the box and they are horrible. make some more rails like the 2 used in the rail jam but make some that have a large jump on and some that are a little more mellow its nice to be able to work your way up to the really big hits. and just make all rails (except s rails c rails and such) outta flat stock meatal thats around 4" wide. thats opens more possibilities for learning 270 to rail and spinning on and off of rails for the first time

build a tower of snow. put Mark Fiori on top and jib him like the little push over he is.

Look at Strattons jumps. Their landings are huge and 10x the size of the table itself, overshooting happens more to me at Okemo. But Okemo is also my favorite out of all of the places.

I don't know how much of a fan I was of the jib setup, espically in Nor'Easter. The flat rail was good, along with the down/flat box, the S is great and crazy difficult, and The Truth is just meancing, but that spine rail, and trap box seemed sketched out, or mabey it was also the order they were in. I love the trap box but there needs to be a wider takeoff. More jump or rail combos would be better, for a slopestyle feel. 50 foot step down or 20 foot flat bar. Catch my drift?

i remember when they used to have the bus box, thatd be sick to bring back, and maybe add a park at jackson gore

make your park flow, there is no flow at all, like there is a couple jumps and the top, than the park stops, and than starts again further down the hill.i think it would be sweeter if it was more like a slopesytle course

right near the end of the season after the ec open was when the park was at its best by far, make the jumps like they were in the eco and put some easy rails/boxes up at the top after the moguls

First off I wanted to give you guys a ton of props for your commitment to the park and getting peoples reactions to improve it. I think how you're improving the rails and sending the groomers to a camp is great. My only suggestions would be the angles/proportions on some of your rails seem a little abnormal. Not bad, but just check out some other leading resorts rails to get ideas. Other than that I think a down-flat-down box would be sick. You don't see to many of those. KEEP UP THE PROGRESSION
