I'm am acquiring a pass to the great mountain of Okemo this year, making it my official home mountain for the 2011/2012 season. Post anything Okemo related in this thread.

why would you ever go to okemo i drove up for the day instead of mt snow and it sucked dick!

I'll be up at okemo again this year with a SOS pass. Good stuff.

Except they'll probably put the S-box somewhere stupid again.

I heckled their facebook hard to get them to put it back up top of the zone and they just deleted all my posts...

haha it was so much better at the top of zone! not only did it not get used when it was on hot dog hill, but they never maintained it.. there was hardly ever a jump up to it.

I have to say i did like that lift tower pipe rail at the top of zone last year though..

I went to Okemo Monday and it was rough. They had to have a snowmaker running every 50 feet just to stay open. No rails. It honestly was not that much fun. But they will have a lot more snow soon, at the rate they're making it. Hands down my favorite VT park to ride in March/April.

I'll be up there this weekend. If any NSer's are there feel free to shout out to the kid wearing the oakley bradford pants and green oversized jacket.

I'm gonna be home from school in a week and was wondering if anyone knows what they have in terms of a park. Last time I was around (thanksgiving) they only had a flat box, flat bar, and an up rail that was much more suited for snowboarders. Praying that they're at least going to have a few cooler features up and maybe timberline open by the time I get back. Let me know what's going on and hope for more snow.

They have a flat rail and a flat box right now, prob moving stuff over to sapphire this week hopefully.....they need to step up on their early season park

bull shitted. I was there with a few hooligans. It was SOO icy, and we got yelled at 2nd run for "skiing uncontrolled" hauling down the hill.

I was the kid who was hiking and his ski disappeared... damn marker brakes. found it halfway down the hill after asking everyone and looking like an idiot.

On the lift today and I saw that they're finally blowing Nor'easter (Thank God). Was wondering if anyone had any kind of inside scoop on whether it's going to be open for this weekend. I'm getting mighty tired of seasoning that excuse for a park on lower Sapphire.

So they just got a bag jump. Thing is, its 15 for only 3 jumps. I dont know how you are supposed to learn a trick in three jumps. Kind of ridiculous...

I was there all weekend. Shit was icy as fuck on top especially Saturday but looked sick, i was hoping in seeing powder in VT after seeing dirt all winter in Connecticut, haha.

How's the snow we just got? I'm coming up to ride this weekend and wanted to hear a little bit about the conditions. Read the snowmaking blog and it didn't pump me up like I was expecting it to.

I am going to Okemo because i can get a tide their, hopefully the park wont blow as much as it did last year. +K for updates.

as of right now, nor' easter's setup is as follows.

large pvc pipe laying flat

jump with new bell feture (hanging bell to tap)

3 small jump line (15 feet -15 feet-20 feet)

long flat rail that has a bank hipped to one side

oil tank rail/jib

hip with lift tower "coping"

hip with wooden quarterpipe on top

2 double jump line (left jumps are smaller, right are bigger: both are step downs)

then the rail garden which consists of

flat up (donkey dick positioned differently) or flat down flat down.

up flat up or tall flat box

flat down or rainbow box

then a roller

canon box or jump with tire jib

then the last jump is $, love dat shyeeet.

blackout consists of:

a cliff drop (3 foot drop thing)

a shitty ass hip that you will die on every time.

a spine with a log jib on top

staircase with handrail and box

box with flat rail on top (stupid/snowboard feature) or flat box

a-frame rail or flat box

2 jump line (right jumps bigger, left smaller)

picnic table shit.

gatorade canon

c box

fuck that was a lot of typing.

okemos park went 3 years backwards in progression. yeah its been a bad snow year but thats no excuse for horrid maintenance on badly setup rails and jumps. okemo has finally "given up" on parks. a bummer to see.

Its been awesome the past three years. Jumps and rails were so damn fun. piss poor effort by okemo this year.

I skied okemo today actually. rails were melted out and tilted. jumps seem like they havnt been manicured in months. there is soo many empty knolls where rails could be setup.

mount snow is a much better option. if your planning a trip to ski park, venture elsewhere.

yeah it sucked last year too.i like this edit though...

the park that runs along side the pipe has-

gay snowboard-oriented corrugated tube

down rail

another down rail (but its more like a really skinny box)

tilted dancefloor box that sits against the edge of the pipe

fat corrugated short tube

flat dancefloor box to flat laying barrel to down box (uprisingly fun regardless how rediculous it looks.

also, to the comment about how the parks suck. FUCK YES. I keep telling my friends how terrible the park is this season compared to the past. nor easter is HALF the park it was last year. There are so many features that are just rotting behind the park crew garage.

what the fuck happend to the whale rail, the s box, the flat down handrail, ext.. seriously okemo? I posted on the okemo parks fb page pre-season this year saying that park crew should set up the s box on nor easter instead of fucking hot dog hill because thats just stupid, and they responded by shitting on me and calling me a "hater."

Going to Okemo tomorrow, anyone been there is the last couple days? Seems like they are closing more trails everyday. Is it shitty?

I went on Wednesday. Evan Wiliams is right. They haven't been maintaining features at all. Some rails would have been fun but they are set up so awkwardly and all the snow has melted off of any lip that existed. By mid day there were deep puddles right in front of the take offs of all the feature except for the ones in the big park. I went there to hit rails and I was dissappointed. The jumps were super rutted out in the takeoff and the landing but you could still hit the biggest jump easily. I had fun on the jumps. In short, if you like rails, you will cry after your first park run. If you like jumps, go there soon and there might be a little bit of fun left in them. In a whole, that place and Sunapee joined hands to underachieve at park this year.

haha fucking sunapee hasnt done anything new in like 5 years. I can almost promise you that their park for next year will be the same, identical thing as this year and years past. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF: the park lift blew up and hasnt run in 3 weeks.

rough year eh!

the park was actually taken really good care of until march, and it seems right about then they stopped manicuring everything.

not many features for a full park though...

I thought the park at the bottom of blackout was real fun midway into the season when it went up, but literally nothing has been switched around/ added since then. Shit's gotten real boring. As for Nor'e, the jumps on the lower half were pretty fun when I was last there (I'd guestimate that the two tables after the workroad are 40 and 45 ft. respectively). The stepup at the bottom, though small, is till as fun as always. When I was there, I didn't notice that the rails had strated to lean, but it's not hard to imagine that with this insanely hot weather they're lapsing into disrepair.

I'm inclined to give the park crew the benefit of the doubt this year due to the subpar conditions, but I still think they could have done a better job keeping the parks fresh by rotating the features around/ setting rails up differently/ adding new features.

Hopefully next year they step it up a bit. Our parks generally aren't this disappointing.
