okemo is opening the 7th....Killy is 'early november'. Who do you guys think is going to be open first, maybe at the same time this year? Last year at this time killington was already open!!

actually, i was at tenney this month when they opened, and aparently killy called egan and said they are already technically open, although only to employees, so i dont know.

i dont beleave that killy calling egan bullshit. killy has admited that they were beat, 2 years in a row now. they take pride in the fact that you will actually be able to ski at killy, unlike tenny, which is more along the lines of sketchin 30 yards, hitting a rail or jump, and sketching for another 30 yards to a stop, only to have to hike your ass back up to do it again. i will stick to killington.

i dont know if anyone in the east has looked outside today but it is like 70 and raining like a mother i am pretty sure that they are both going to open late something like maybe nov 20 and around there it sucks but mother nature is being a whore

 
okemo will definately beat killy unless temps up there all of a sudden drop to 20 for a solid week. other than that killy is too poor to be able to make snow just to have it melt away. their source of water isn't as plentiful as okemo. oh well thats sick for okemo. i'll be there

 
I'm pretty sure the thought was to join Pico and Killy, not Okemo.

As far as I've been told though, its been in the works for years, but no headway has really been made at combining them.

 
yeah its going to be 75 on saturday so it looks like unless we get some cold all the open dates could get pushed back

 
I know a Killington Pass is accepted at Pico (I didn't think it worked the other way around) and Pico is owned by the same people as well. But I remember talk (even like 6 or 7 years ago) about trails being cut to combind to the two areas, but there were concerns and delays because of how much work had to be done to complete it.

As far as I knew it still had not yet been completed, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

 
it was suposed to snow in van city this weekend but the weather forcast changed yesterday but its still supposed to be -5C so im keeping my fingers chrosed because ive scoped so many rails i want to go hit up

I think and hope it's Killy because I have a pass there and it's closer to me. But 'early november' come on that bull, they need to set a date. Until they do I really don't have any faith- althought my dad confirmed what Egan said I think? Yeah I think so.

GO kill urselves, PICO is the shit. ITs ten times better then okemo flates and killington. That wont open till december and its worth the wait. The four or five inches a week ago was just a fluk. Mother nature has something stuck in her ass. ITs been raining for a week with flood warnings, u actually think ski areas will open any time soon?>

 
pico is steeper the okemo. name a trail on okemo that has a half way decent pitch.

I already booked a trip to killy and they sent me an e-mail today stating that they plan to open Nov. 15th if the weather cooperates.

 
i went to okemo mountain school for two years and okemo has thier shit together. they'll be first to open for sure!! no doubt. any how....fuck yeah okemo rules

The lifts at killington suck when they first open anyways. I'm sure they will be open in the next 2 weeks, if not then both of them are losing a shit load of money. They make snow inside then truck it out. So if their making snow and takeing it out side then leting it melt, their losing their shirt.

 
exactly so they're not making jack shit right now because its not fucking worth it. it's way too fucking warm around here. the past week alone if it was snowing instead of raining we'd have like a 2 ft base of real snow

 
that would be amuzing blowing snow in like a hockey rink and trucking it out. mabey for a rail jam or sumtihng, but not full fledged skiing.

ohh, and skifreeordie, i had roughly 120 days on snow last year, between stratton, okemo, killington, and magic. (prolly be around 80 this year, college really doesnt allow for to many days on snow, or Ill get kickd out! :)

have u ever skied the poma into poma loop at pico(out of bounds!)? yea... thats good stuff, u cant get enough of that shit. One oof the best trails ive skied on in vermont. And also the cliffs off A slope. U just gota know where to go, and killington is deff better and will open before okemo flatts.

killy is now trying to open on friday, one day ahead of okemo. i don't see it happening at either mountain because neither have snow and temps are supossed to drop until thursday. doesn't leave much time for blowing snow.

Pico is coneccted to killy theres only one trail now and its for the cats and snow making pipes but you can ski from pico to killy if u know where to go
