Okemo getting a park pass

the word on the street is next year they are gettin um. sorta like the deal over at stratton with the video and shit.

mark the park guy says Yeah I know its a big problem I have proposed to get the SES pass here . It just hasnt worked out , it may but not likely . There are a lot of ways to get into Nor easter , and to guard them all day would be impossible . I personally would love to see that for NOr easter the zone and blind faith. If the racers didnt take our yurt then I think it would be a bit more feezable , then we would have some where to host the video for the SES pass.Trust me ive tried , maybe in the future some things around here take a bit of time to get into effect. If you and your friends can write in and say that its a good idea or even on here and I can put together a list of peoples concerns about the situation that might help make the powers that be realize it really is an issue. Thanks and well seee you up on the hill .

what about the short 12 year olds that are nasty? if there under 5 feet tall then skiing beacomes no fun okemo should have parks that require passes and others that dont like hot dog hill and the snoskate parks

jea hot dog hill.

but seriously even though stratton has one, every time ive been there they dont even have anyone out checking, let alone stopping and checking us. with okemo, there are too many entrances to each of the parks, so I don't know if it would work too well. it would be sooooo nice though, because there are so many joebags who get stuck up on the lip or wedge down the landing scraping it off, or ski in front of you when you're about to hit a rail. i hate that shit. if you couldnt tell.

im such a huge fan of park passes, im all for the little kids trying out the park but if a park pass comes along only the kids who really want to get into park will be there.

okemos park is legit dangerous because of all the shoobiez in it, a lot of the time you cant even hit features cause you get snaked by small women and children.

Whats goin on ??? So the ses park pass ... yeah everything was already covered about gettin on e here ... to many ways in to nor easter so on and so forth . I would love to get one for atleast Nor Easter. I am gonna mention it in our end of the year park proposal and we'll see what we come up with. You guys should go up to the people you dont want in there and tell them why they shouldnt be in there... yeah I know a bit far fetched ...

a park pass is irritating if you are ony visiting the hill for the day.

If im there, the last thing i wanna do is sit for 30min, watch a lame video, fill out forums and chalk up another 10 bucks.

The idea is great for safety but irritiating for day tripers who can rip the park

we do that, whether its being nice to them or yelling at them, most of the time theyll give you attitude, a lot of the problem is okemo instructors bringin their lessons of lik e 20 little kids into the park.

I never thought Okemo was terrible compared to some of the other Southern VT Mountains. Mount Snow I always thought was worse with joey's

i wish my mt. (kissing bridge) could do that cause i was waiting to hit this flat down box, so first an old lady is teaching her little kid how to ski for the first time, then another kid with his dad went up to the box, got scared, and he didnt make it up, then he pushed up with his poles and stood on the flat cause he was too scared so for at least 5 minutes he stood there until his dad picked him up and took him off of it

the whole problem is because noreaster is in a kinda shitty spot. on weekends you get about three runs per day. and there are soooooo many entrances.

Mount Snow

FYI I just left a message with a Learning Center Supervisor to speek with their guys to limit if not eliminate taking kids through the parks. Im tryin people its a tuff battle and with out an army its tuff to win !

i was at okemo a few weeks ago and i agree it should have a park pass

but not all mountains should i ski at sugarbush and the whole idea of a park pass there creeps me out sugarbush has so many little kids flying off th jumps it sux but its also great because then all the little kids are startin to love the park and the other problem is is what happens when u have a frend who cant get his waiver signed or a person on a day trip who came to ski the park and isnt alowed to

Oh god, those ski patrollers are complete morons. I've seen it on MULTIPLE occasions at Okemo. A ski patroller takes a line of lirk 10 five year olds through the park and cuts everybody and their dogs off. Are they trying to teach bad etiquette? Fucking complete morons. If I weren't so nice, I would scream my head off at those stupid assholes.

what exactly is a park pass, i hear all this about them but my moutain doesnt have one, i have no clue what they are.

a park pass would be cool but i dont rly want park passes cause sometimes i ski with ppl who dont do that park and dont get park passes like my sister and they wont be able to come into the park so i dont want it to be liek that. but older ppl have to stop teachin their kids how to ski in the park. and i dont mind when ppl 50 50 boxes inless they go their slowest and cut in front of u which is basically all the time somebody 50 50 boxes but whatever

Yo! The best way to be heard is email

info@okemo.com

Last time I had a gripe, I emailed and they responded! The more we come up with good, constructive ideas, the farther we will probably get with Okemo.

I like the idea's though-ski instructors keeping kids outta the park/pipe and jersey booters stay off our jumps.

Word!

the other issue with a park pass is that we want people (everyone, not just us) to see the park and how much fun it is... it's sort of a catch-22 - since we don't have a lift running right over it, the only way people are going to see the park up close is by going right through it, which, well, sucks. a lot.

and yeah, feel free to email info@okemo.com, we pass e-mails with good suggestions along to the GM of the mountain. it's a good place to make your voice heard. also keep posting here on newschoolers, because the right people are starting to take notice...

in the meantime, check out:

full movie coming soon!

i dont kno if it would ever work but there should be one pass for all the mountains in vt (and other states as well) and you get it at one mountain once and you can go anywhere and use it, it prob wont happen but it would prob b the best thing

I liked whistlers pass. I just signed a form when i drove up...i'm 18, my parents were not there, so i lied about my age, and bam! i got a park pass.

I don't know because with all the young guns coming up it would suck to keep them out of the parks. And for people just coming for the day or something they couldn't go in the park. WE all started as gapers at one point.

well since ross powers now signed with okemo and left stratton, the powers park at okemo could possibly have park passes like strattons did...

old thread but that would suck for me because I have a few friends not super into park but we'll pass through it and I can hit some stuff. if they had to watch a video then they wouldn't waste their time. and they're not gapers who will screw it up and stand on landings either. I do agree though something needs to be done about the situation in general.

defeinitely park passes, but the at least 5 ft rule is dumb. i know a 7 yr old who does 3's and rails and hes like 3'6" and iknow some kids who are like 7 ft tall who gape it up.

alright, I was just there a week ago and hot dog hill or whatever the small park could use a pass but I guess it's the learning park so that's sorta stupid. but I did see instructors in there with a ton of little kids..

the dew zone was crowded, but not really with gapers. it was packed with skiers and boarders hitting the stuff and just chilling out- it was pretty sweet- and I bet people would look in and not want any part of it. (good thing)

nor' easter was pretty much empty except for a few people hitting the jumps/rails and some better skiers off to the side just skiing the trail and doing their thing. they do need some more jumps the size of the dew zone one.

Ross had little to nothing to do with the Parks at Stratton or the SES program for that matter. He was in the first few videos because of his marketing deal with the the mtn but that's it. He had nothing to do with starting the SES program or riding/designing/building parks or even giving feedback on set ups.
