Here's the truth, trust me I've dealt with this shit...

Asbru Web Content Editor

//if (parent.webeditor.baseHref) document.write('');

window.onerror = error_handler;

function error_handler() { return true; }

/* form { border: 1px dashed red; } */

/* table, caption, thead, tbody, tfoot, tr, td, th { border: 1px dashed gray; } */

/* object, embed { border: 1px dashed gray; } */

I read some old threads and it seems like NS has nooo idea what this shit

actually is, no offense.

1: Your diet WILL NOT affect your acne AT ALL. All that "no chocolate, pizza,

sugar, milk" talk is total bullshit. The only thing that might change it a

little is the fact that sugar is an inflamatory, so taking all sugar out of your

diet will make it slightly more inflamed. If you're a slob and get stuff all over your face when you eat/ drink, that may be causing breakouts.

2: If you have acne, GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST! They know what they're doing. Don't believe that proactive will work, nor anything else you see on TV or online. Everyone has different skin, and it's best to see a professional.

3: Washing your face A LOT with SCRUBS such as soapy shit with beads in it is BAD. Irritation makes acne wayyy worse, so use something gentle for about 10 seconds 2-3 times a day.

4: Popping zits / facepicking is nooo buneo. If you have a big whitehead on your chin and just can't live without poppin that bitch, do so with a disinfected needle and gently push your fingers around it with toilet paper or tissues on your fingertips. If you start bleeding, STOP! It will only spread bacteria and make the zit worse.

5: I have to say this again because most are ashamed of their acne. GO TO A DERM! They will help you so much, I swear.

6: If you can't afford to see a derm, I advise reading up on http://www.acne.org/ this site helped me out a ton when I refused to go to a derm because I was so embarrassed.

7: Accutane... It's bad shit guys. Yeah, it wil most likely clear you up but I've read too many stories and seen to many pictures of bad aftermath to ever want to try it myself.

8: Zinc is your friend! Don't take more than 50 mg though, you will most likely die :D...or get sick

9: If anything claims to "WOOOHOOO ACNE FREE OVERNIGHT!" or "ACNE FREE IN THREE DAYS BITCHHHH!" its lying. This stuff is hard to deal with, and if you want to make it out without scars and END IT forever it's going to take the right procedures and most likely 3-5 months. But isn't that so much better than living with it ANOTHER 3-5 months? Think about it... It's not that long.

10: Tooth Paste. It works for LITTLE SPOT TREATMENTS but DO NOT!! DO EFFING NOT! ever use "whitening/multistrength" bla bla blaaa you know it. Use straight up ghetto PASTE. I mean, it's gotta be thick yo. Also try the asprin acne trick... Look it up on youtube.

I hope this helped you guys struggling with the gayest shit ever. And I didn't post this with my regular profile... Why? Because this thread is anonymous(e) bitches.

ignore that shit at the top, i started in explorer and moved to firefox so copied and pasted.... yeahhhh

dermatologist saved my ass. seriously everything theyve given me works, its just damn expensive and most of it smells so bad you wanna puke.

Npe, I talked to my derm and she laughed at me for about 35 seconds... It hurt. But don't worrky about any foods. Unless you're eating rat poison, that might mess you up.

i would ignore 7, it worked perfectly for me, dermatologists will tell you keep of it so they can continue to make money off you... I havent been back since

I use mourning and night cream for my face and it dries my face out and makes it burn after a while...I hate my shitty skin...I can't get a google tan with it :(

I stopped going to the dermatologist after they put me on accutane twice. Derms are whack. I went to a naturopath and started taking supplements that replenish the lining of my stomach and intestines (which was destroyed by the accutane), and now my acne is under control, without the psychotic side effects of accutane.

my face tends to get really fucking greasy, and it gets to the point where it really bothers me. I just was my face with water about 4 to 6 times a day. At night I put this aveda shit on concentrated areas, and it's been working out really well.

my two cents

I, and MANY people I personally have know, took Accutane, and NO ONE had any lasting bad problems. Yeah, there is the possibility for some minor side effects when taking it, as with ANY DRUG EVER. I had bad acne for many years, and Accutane was the ONLY thing that ever gave me any progress what so ever. It has now been about 3 years since I did Accutane, and I still have no acne at all, as with everyone I had known to take it.

I hate all the bad shit around Accutane. It is preventing it from helping a lot of people. I was scared to do it for many years because of all the shit about it, but once I actually decided to try it, I realized it was all bullshit and the drug is awesome. The only regret I have is that I didn't take it sooner, because now I still have some mild scaring left on my face from all the acne I had before Accutane.

I am not saying it is for everyone, but people who actually have a decent amount of acne with little results from normal products can really benifit from it.

Fuck all the lawers who are about ot get the drug off the market. I feel sorry for the people who are not going to be able to use it now. Just because it is "probable" that Accutane may lead to IBD doesn't mean shit. You realize any drug can harm you with side effects when you talk to the doctor about taking it. Then the doctor will evaluate you to see if you are a good candidate and have good chances to come out of the drug cycle without side effects. And even then you make doctor visits and get blood tests every month during the cycle to monitor how you are doing with liver enlargement and other things. YOU ACCEPT THE RISK WHEN YOU DECIDE TO TAKE IT. Just like any risk you accept in life to hopefully make some gain. Its NOT the drug company's fault if for some reason it doesn't work out for you. Take responsibility for your choices fucking idiots, don't make everyone else suffer becuase you're not happy with the outcome of a choice YOU made.

Sorry, I didn't plan of ranting, I just got into it. /rant

I felt that way at first, because the first 9 months I was taking it were fine; the only side effects I got were chapped skin. Then I was put on it for a second 7-month period over a minute breakout (not nodular acne, or even anything that would justify this drug), and this time around the side effects were horrible.

O no, I'm not doubting the side effects, while on the drug, were aweful. I had dry lips, dry skin, back/hip/knee aches, rashes on my arms/hands, constipation, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I am saying it wasn't that bad for 5.5 months, which is how long I was on it for. Also, all of the side effects went away within a couple days of stopping the drug. This is also the case for everyone I have known to take it as well.

yeah, but that's not really bad. I had all that my first time, and it was manageable. The second time on it, I had horrible insomnia, which led to psychosis. I stopped taking it and the effects lasted for 3 months after, until I did something about it...

It's a great drug if you have horrible acne, I can actually lie on my back now, which is grrrrrreat.

what your saying about acutane is somewhat true, i used it and non of my babies turned out with cone shaped heads, and it cleared me up a lot, but it can be bad, but the odds are pretty good that bad shit won't happen.

Some may say this. This is only because in reality no one will leave a whitehead until it disappears naturally, so they wont ask you to do something they know isn't practical to follow. I'm sure it was followed with a qualifying statement like, "if they do have a visible whitehead, you can gently squeeze them." Popping pimples, especially with a lot of force, or prematurely (with no/little whitehead) is what causes scars.

milk does actually affect acne. my sister became lactose intolerant and you can tell when she eats dairy because she will start to break out reallllly bad all over her face and arms. it may be different for people who aren't lactose intolerant, but there are definaely exceptions

change your pillowcase often. like, every other night.

swear to god, it made a difference for me

yeah i had bad acne on my chin, and i went to the doctor helped sooo much. he put me on some pills for like 3-4 months and now i use this prescription cream to keep it clean.

Good to know. I have a bit, and I find it always useful to get rid of the whiteheads before they're 100% infected and painful. If you get them at the right time it seems to be all good. Just wash your face after.
I just started using facewash like a week ago, wonder if it'll help out at all. It seems to clean the grease from my face better than soap, so I'm hoping that will help.

Oh, and what about black heads? What do you do about them? Like if you have really ugly ones do you squeeze them out or just leave them in your skin? It's pretty fun to get them out but it seems like it could be bad to do...

fuck off acne. stop pissing me off and lowering my self esteem by a fucking mile. no joke, i can barley look at myself in a mirror anymore...

fuck this thread. accutane doesn't do shit to your emotions. i have 2 weeks left and my face is clearer then day. and I've had the time of my life the past two months. no depression syptoms at all. when i'm finished with the treatment.. i'll post a "review" in ladies men.

i dont have terrible acne, but i've started to get little pimples and red marks all up and my jaw line and on my forehead under my hair

I've gone to the dermotologist and i have a face wash, and two different types of face cream (one for maintenance and one for spot treatment) but they arent really working well. i'm also on Adderral which sucks water out of me, so the plus the acne meds dried my face out reallllly bad.

so anyway, can you get accutane if you have acne thats not like insanely out of control and what not? and if yours isnt that bad, do you not have to take it as long? and is it true that after your done (when do they decide that you are done?), you no longer get acne (if it worked)?

i didnt read this thread since it seems like a shit-slinger, but i was going to mention that diet does in fact affect your face. lots of carbs causes lots of insulin in your body to be released, which in turn can cause acne in some people. thats why if you take one of those gnarly creatine supps with lots of fructose in it (creatine works best when your insulin is high) you can get super bad acne.
but whatev, listen to me or dont.

mmmmm

creatine

nothing like getting huge, except you just ruined it for me since now it going to make acne worse...

This thread has just as much bullshit and misinformation as any other.

I took my course of accutane. Lasted 6 months. I went from horrible, nasty, pus shooting zits on my chin and scarring, cystic acne on my back that would bleed literally every time I even too a shower to crystal clear skin.

It dried me out at the time, particularly in the nasal linings, and I had a few nosebleeds as a result. Once the course was finished, I came off of it, and I've never looked back. Never had any emotional problems, no digestive issues, nothing.

Best thing that ever happened to my skin period.

yep. My acne was no where near out of control. I just had some blotchy spots with acne and under my hairline it was pretty bad. I went on a 5-month period of 30mg Claravis (generic accutane). I don't know what the regular treatment period is but I think 5 is pretty short. I am almost done (about two weeks left) and my acne is completely gone. no acne at all.

the side effects may do something to do but it did nothing to me. I had nothing happen to me.. just some really dry lips but there's chapstick for that. Also a factor you want to keep in mind is that accutane is really expensive. I had a generic brand and it cost $700. luckily, my parents don't have a high deductible so it was only about a $20 copay.

i would say, do it.

Acne is a fuckin bitch. i've had that shit for like 7 years. ive taken proactive, clearasil, and a shit ton of other things for it and nothins fuckin worked. ive been to two derms and both of them wanted me to be on some shit cream that id tried years before i went to them and when i tried to explain this to them they just said "we want you to still do it so we can watch you from stage 1." fucking pissed me off and when i asked neither of them would even talk about giving me acutane "because thats stage 3 of our plan for your treatment"... i hate derms. fucking assholes who just want your money /rant

true. not sure if it works for full on acne but i dab it on before i go to bed and the next day the pimple is gone/ diminished

Just wash your face duh...
I didnt agree with most of what you said... It is safe to tear them zits off, but you gotta wait until theyre dry and hard. Then you can pull the top off without any bleeding. Put some alcohol in it and woohoo youre done. You won't get permanent scars unless you literally tear the fucker out of your good skin, not the pimple. The pimple scars will eventually fade away.

5 months is a lot, i mean thats means i can't drink, at all, for 5 months, right? so like most of the rest of junior year i can't party? ehhhh

I was on accutane. couple months later acne came back. shitty as hell cause they said if it did it would be a few years later. I'm kinda pissed about it.
