North Cascades highway is once again, closed.

Stevens and White pass are friggin COVERED in snow.

Anndddd, there's no skiing outside of touring. Cool. Alpental WOULD be open, but no, Boyne is a douche.

Thanks business execs and all those under them. I love not skiing. :)

No joke it's bad! hahahaha

But seriously, I miss skiing in June!

Also, alpy is calling my name. I just can't skip any classes for the next three weeks. dang Saturdayyyyyyyyyyyyyssss

If you have the time, there is always a way to make skiing happen. Take advantage of it while you can, because unless you are a ski bum, you will never have as much free time as you do now~

The more tourers, the better.

And scott, you speak true words. Unfortunately, not only am I out of absences, I have testing all week, and next, and the next. sigh, but the weekends will be my vacations.

I'd love to find someone to tour with who has a bit of experience. I live in the Tri-Cities and would like to give it a shot. Shoot me a line!

Except I'm pretty sure I'll be having 45+ credits entering UW...

I'm just a bit ticked that I can't enjoy alpy like years past... Waiting for saturday isn't the issue.

Sweet, I was surfing TG, er I mean another website and apparently this early closing thing isn't going to be permanent.

If anyone saw the LONG closures of Chair two at alpy the weeks leading up to the end of the season, you'll know why they closed. They're replacing the gear box which will take weeks.

So, at least we may be skiing in May once again!

tbh billy is right about AP credits. Unless you get 5s or are going into a major where you wont continue with math/science, they are pretty much garbage~

AP chem is valuable, if you get a 5 that is the first full year of intro chem, one of the biggest gpa killers out there.

AP physics is worthless, unless you are going soft

option (re: not engineering). The C test is useful though.

AP calc takes off 124 (and 125 w/ a 5), BC takes off 125 if you get a 4 or higher.

AP stat is utterly worthless.

AP history and social tests can take off I&S credits, which kinda sucks since you only get 10 of those, and they are usually interesting and gpa boosters.

AP art classes would be clutch since VLPA classes are gay and you need 10 credits

of it. Easy A, but a gay A.

AP language could be useful, I wouldent know real majors don't require it.

That said, 90 to move up in the pecking order isn't that bad. But spending a year or two and then coming to UW would have been a better plan. From what I have seen you will get an equaly good education, if not better, at a much better price.

Regardless, the first thing you want to do is talk to the advisor of your chosen major. Get buddy buddy with them, as they can make your life much easier. The general, and college level advisors are worthless. I had a college of enginerding advisor sign off on a graduation plan that did not actually meat the necesary requirements. The dept. Advisors know what they are doing though.

And don't plan on graduating in 4 years, unless you have stacked transfer credits. I have 105 credits right now and not all of my pre reqs are done.

I am an AA major with math and military science minors. ( hopeing for that AA major) I take 17-18 credits a quarter. I don't believe in free time either. A business major would be easy, a poly sci major would be a cake walk.

Basically if you are premed, nursing, enginerding or arch, your life is gonna be very different from highschool, but it's worth it in the end to have a rewarding job that pays well (cept arch. They still hit up the unemployment line).

LOL so every thread you write up a huge list about how college is not as easy as high school.

Im sorry your honors kindercare program didnt set you up like you thought it would.

I LOVE taking 400 level classes with kids who took every AP/IB test in chigh school, had no social skills, and frankly sucked at everything except reading mindless text. They snickered when I said i wasnt going to a University. I went to WCC and transferred, and I am going to graduate ahead of some of them with a higher GPA. And I paid literally a fraction of the cost.

Too bad, keep crying. I love people like you.

I am confused as to where I am crying. It is more that I am pissed off at the way UW runs it's underclass level classes. Most of the 100 level classes I have taken have been more work and lower grades then the advanced classes. I wish I went to SC, cascadia or bcc for my first two years, I would have gotten a better education. And I don't know what your major is, but that has a lot to do with it too. I could sleep my way through a poly sci or history major. There is a difference between a STEM major and the rest of them. This is the same reason that the Greek system has a higher gpa, because they are heavy on business and A&S majors. And when did you graduate highschool again? If you graduted high school 3 years before me, and earn your degree 2 years ahead of me, your not exactly being more productive.

Bassically, if your not heading engineering, pre-med or nursing, I don't consider you to be in higher education, just waisting your time. Yes that is egotistical and conceated.

As for not being as easy as highschool, it's not like I had that impression

in high school. I graduated with a solid gpa, almost a full yar of AP credit, and never studied for a test. High school was easy. I knew college was going to require more work, but I did not plan on having to teach myself the vast majority of first year subject material, due to professors who are neither there to teach, nor paid to teach. That is why I whisk I had gone to a community college the first year. The teaching staff is paid to teach there. Something which can not be said of the underclass teaching staff at the UW. Neither the professors, nor the university places a priority on underclassmen education.

I am pissed off since I was told I was going to get a world class education, when what I actually got was death by PowerPoint from worldclass researchers.

This is what I fear, and somewhat expect.

I'm hoping my second year on are the golden years of my education.

And I appreciate the info given before. I knew classes like physics wouldn't be counted at all cause it's not calculus based, but I'm definately hoping some of my other prereqs are covered with the IB and BC credit.

I can't believe this went from Alpental's closure to college. hahaha

thats not egotistical, it's your bias towards the nerdy subjects that you have limited yourself to.

There are literally HUNDREDS of majors that can prepare you for just as lucrative of a career, in a field that might be INTERESTING to you. I'm sure your parents told you that you can only be successful in a handful of ways, but believe me, the sky is the limit in any field. If you so desire, you could make a 7 figure salary selling rubber dog shit out of hong kong as long as you move enough units.

As far as my productivity is concerned, you don't know anything about me. I will graduate just as fast as you, all the while skiing 60 plus days a year, filming, and shooting photos. Not to mention I work nearly 6oo hours a year, and pay for the majority of my schooling as well as my recreational activities.

Don't flatter yourself, you arent any better than anyone else.

this thread is stupid. Just shut the fuck up about how you hate UW.

I don't actually base those off of money, but rather potential to contribute to society (your dog shit in jingling don't count) as well as dificulty.

And I am glad you pay for your school, you pay for mine too, thanks.

So you ski 60 days a year, work 12 hours a week, and are earning a college degree? So? That sounds just like a ton of other people I know.

And enginerding is what I am interested in, my parents have never persueded me in any way, except from enlisting.

I have repeatedly made decisions that lower my income, and income potential. Why? Because I place a much higher value on people and job satisfaction, then the numbers I put on my 1040 each year.
