i know there are a shitload of threads out there but come on, how can you guys hate this guy

he pushes the sport more than any other person

hes definitely one of the best out there

hes a hilarious person

so many of you say that he bitches after he doesnt win. first of all, he doesnt bitch, hes disappointed. NO SHIT HES DISAPPOINTED. how can you expect him to work hard all year to win an event, not win, and be happy go lucky? its not like he pushes tanner away, he accepts tanner and gives him a big homie hug. how did the cardinals feel after losing the superbowl? he doesnt bitch, he is a good sport

lots of people also say hes a dick, but i met him once and he was nothing but the absolute man. so what if he thinks he is better than everyone else? he is. its not like he goes up to people and sprays them or makes fun of them (from what i can see) like some other people out there. im sure if he saw someone on the ground hed make sure that homie is alright

im sorry if simon isnt a weed smoking high school dropout that doesnt give a shit about anything, and skis pow a large portion of the winter. simon cares about the xgames. you cant expect him not to

I am writing to inform you that there

has been a death in the family, A rogue in the system, or in simple

words, something that simply shouldn't be said, and just isn't right.

I am, before your very eyes, answering Question Four, "Three Reasons

Why Simon Dumont is the most attractive man alive." First(!) may I

bring to attention his dreamy eyes. Bluer than a the depths of Lake

Tahoe, colder than a Whistler pow day, yet as vibrant as a warm spring

morning, as yearning as a summer glacier jump line calling your name,

and as wistful as having to leave the mountain 5 hours before closing.

They speak of summers gone by and winters yet to come, of comp runs yet

to stomp and pillow lines waiting to be slashed. The only comparison I

can find is the near perfect Zac Efron(see link A), who pales in

comparison to Simon's heavenly good looks and ravishing charm.

Secondly is his hair. A simple search on Google images reveals

that The Dumont's hair is perfection at it's best. It perfectly rests

above his heart-stopping smile, perfectly straight with a slight wave

towards the end. Even after a long hard day of progressing the sport

and showing up all the would be competition, his helmet hair puts all

other forms of hair to death(see link B. It is like a quiet seduction,

a warm summers sunset over the Costa Rican Pacific Coast. The way it

tosses in the wind after a perfectly executed cork 900 and the way it

frames his face, with a Red Bull New Era hat playfully perched on the

top.

Lastly, his immaculate goggle tan. The contrast from the

flawless patch of skin above his angelic arching eyebrows to the

chiseled cheek bones, and finely shaped chin is enough to make anyones

heart skip a beat(see link C). This most perfect of tans can only be

achieved by hours upon hours of slaying, shralping,killing,slaying and

shralping, pow, park, pipe, urban, and the explicit gnar, and EVERYONE

loves a hard working man.

Though he is the target of

so much hate and often accused of selling out, Simon Dumont is the

image of a freestyle skier. Not to mention his work with the Target

House for disfigured children. He is a model citizen, not partaking in

the counter-culture practices of of certain Rastafari inspired

athletes, or the disgustingly urban-inspired underground ski crews,

Simon is a man who we can all wake,ahem,look up to.

Ive always liked simon people just don't like him because hes a "sellout" and not underground enough like twall or HH for them and he is pretty cocky but so was tanner and i mean when you're that good i would be a cocky mofo tooyou got karma acually!

i can understand people hating on simon...

but hating on tanner?

you don;t realize just how good he is at skiing.

one of the only reasons dudemont is still cool in my book is because he gave the money to riley.

that and he is really really rediculously good looking.
 
no hate for him, to the people that r hating on him i think it is because of his achievments and people r seeing to much of him he is getting exposed and gapers, or kids who dont even really ski r knowing his name. like tony hawk, kids say they hate him... I could b wrong but i see the same thing happening to tom wallisch... just the way i see itsoo much respect for him though, hes pushed skiing so much

i agree that the hate needs to stop on dumont. he is really good, and is kind of progressing the sport. i guess.i have tons of respect for him, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to make a short joke every once in a while. everyone should let dumont do his own thing, and rule the park and pipe, and let tanner do his own thing and rule everywhere. NS and the whole ski community would be a much better place without hating on everyone
 
ill admit that i hate on simon quite a bit, but why shouldnt i? you say hes pushing the sport of skiing? his pipe runs have been the same for some time now, sure he may add another rotation, and miss a few more grabs, but what is he doing to push the sport? the reason i hate on him is because he does the same tricks, and doesnt really try to expand his bag of tricks to the extent others are. or at least thats how i have seen it.

i will admit to this, the cork 5 blunt he does in the slum dog edit could be one of the sickest ive seen
 
i have been waiting for this thread for so long. he has stepped up his all around game so much. now its back to what it was like in the good old days
 
sorry for double post but i agree with this, at least partially one of the reasons simon gets hated on a lot. a lot of people think that everything is better if it is underground and unknown from music, clothes, to pro skiiers. Not saying I dont do this... I do it all the time, I'll admit it but I just think that could be one of the reasons Simon gets hated on a lot.

Another reason I think Simon could be hated on a lot is because everyone on this site jumps on the bandwagon for everything. Not saying its a bad thing, it just happens. A highly looked upon member will say something and this will change everyones opinion. It seems to happen a lot and I think this happened to Simon at one point so the hate just keeps on coming.
 
you could replace Simon Dumont with Shawn White or Ryan Sheckler and send that letter to snowboard and skate forums

How has Simon pushed skiing more then anyone else

Besides going huge, I have never seen him do something that I haven't already seen someone do better. To me his style is cookie cutter but thats just my opinion.

Personally i never "hated" on Simon untill this years x-games. Don't get me wrong, i know the judging in the big air was sthe stupidest thing ever, but the fact that he threw a double frontflip proves that he knew he would win by doing it. And by knowing it would be that way, he shouldn't have done it. He should have done something hard and technical like the other skiers who were lucky to get a chance to participate. It's hard to explain, but i hope you understand what i mean.

I really like his skiing though, and i don't care if he's more into the competition part than skiing powder and making movies.

And i think his new suit looks better than the g-suit.

funny how all of you have no idea about who simon is when he's noty in fornt of the public eye and/or what he realy think about the sport.

I'm not saying hating on someone is cool but making an opinion after meeting someone 1 time and having a good or a bad opinion about him is stupid.

Even tho I think Simon is onwe REALLY REALLY good skier. I think he's always jumping on whatever is the trendy fashion.

 
With the way the judging was, he could have straight aired, and won. Everyone knew him from the qp record last year...he was American, no one else had a chance.
 
I really can't say i don't like him since i havent met him, but for some reason i just don't like the vibe he gives off? I dunno.
 
I agree, peeps should stop the hateing, its not helping anything. but do you actually truelly beleive this "he pushes the sport more than any other person"?

I can think of several guys who are progressing and pushing the sport much faster than Dumont, for example, justin dorey, will wesson, Durtschi. Those guys each are pushing it in different ways and I'd much rather watch them in a video than him.

Dumont does kill it and he goes huge! so quit the hate, and respect him for what he does.
 
Simon is a sick skier but he comes off as a poser in that edit cause he doesn't do anything original. He tried to mimic what everyone else is doing and just conform. There are obviously a shit load of kids doing that but someone as good and well known as dumont should have his own style. The start and end of the edit with people claiming and all of the filler on the lift shots are just generic. Ending the edit with the word "hyphy" was retarded, it wasn't even a hyphy song. Simon is better than that.

and you are telling me that if you were in the same position and you knew the double front would win you the conp and a shit load of money, you would choose to do a harder more technical trick that you could possibly fall on and lose. Dont hate on him he did what he needed to win.
 
dude he donated all the money to riley poor, so getting a lot of money from it is kinda another case.

But yes, i would have gone with a more technical trick if i was in his position (and if i had the skill). The pros are always talking about how good friends they are, and how everybody knows everybody, and if i was competing against my friends like that i would try to make it as fair as possible. I just wouldn't feel good about myself if i knew i won just because of my name.
