Ohio issue 6

i hate gambling and i think it's retarded, but i am for sure voting yes on issue six. all this moral bullshit pisses me off. if people want to gamble their lives away, let them go ahead. they'll just go to another state to do it if they can't do it in ohio. all the loophole commercials i have seen are so stupid. i told myself before i even responded to this that i wouldn't write a book... soooo YES ON SIX!

haha in that link i was reading that one negative effect of the casino is that it will cause crime? how the fuck is that relevant?

my problem with issue 6 is that it gives the rights to open only the one casino in that one place and to be run by that one company. its to narrow. why only in south west ohio. i can think of other good places that a casino would work (cleveland, put-in-bay, pretty much anywhere along the lake front) but under this law its not allowed. i would support a law that allows any company to be allowed to build a casino-not just one chosen one. as far as the moral aspects of gambling-i really couldnt care less. i dont think people are going to be breaking the doors down with their paychecks in hand to gamble away their children's food money. and BTW everyones who is old enough needs to go vote. doesnt matter what your view or position, there nothing better than knowing you spoke up and voted for what you feels right.

that's a good point. i just feel that it needs to start somewhere. if this passes and people see that casinos don't really ruin a town like in episodes of south park i think legislation will be passed that allows more and more casinos to open. i think a casino needs to go up in the flats in cleveland like right now, by the way. that's probably the only thing that can bring that shithole back from hell.

luckily i forgot to register in ohio and sent my absentee ballot in to pennsylvania.

p.s. anyone hear about the west virginia voting booths that automatically by a "calibration error" checked mccain when you touched obama?

i agree i think it would be a great start for ohio for open one casino. hopefully if it works out cleveland will get one.

but cleveland is already on the rise from being a shithole. alot of companies are expanding in cleveland so alot more business will be going on in the future. plus when the IX closes down well get a huge ass convention center built. so give it 10 years or so and cleveland will be the shit again!!

It's a shame the casino up near Holiday Valley hasn't done a better job revitalizing the area. I was away for about 5 years during which time it opened. Salamanca or whatever that town is called actually looks far more run down than it did prior to construction of the busy casino. Might be an isolated occurnace, but most of the casinos here and out west have done absolutely nothing to help stimulate the local economy.

On a positive note the crazy indian is still open and pumping gas for the drive back to Ohio...

bahahaha everyone vote no so all you buckeyes keep coming to indiana and gambling tat way all my roads are nice and smooth cuz we get a shit load of tax money from the boats

Coming from Reno I'm pretty use to gambling... since its basically Nevada's entire economy so it does have both pros and cons. I'd probably vote yes on the issue for the sake of stimulating the economy (assuming some % of money made was taxed and spent back on improving areas in Ohio). Not sure the exact details of the issue but yea... may as well keep money spent out of state in state if possible.
