Ohio Dreams = Dope ass summer camp for less $$$ than you may think

It's gonna be awesome...........

Its 2 weeks of camp for 800 dollars.. no one can beat that..

BUMP for an amazing time..

not yet, they are workin on that though. it is just a question of having the money to get a legit tramp setup since the camp is still in its early stages plus the insurance for having a tramp is rediculous. if not this year though which it could be, then def next year.

i thought it was a snow camp when i read the title. i got super stoked and then all my dreams were killed.

hold on a sec... you need a coach for this? i know placid is like that, but i dont think they care at OD do they?

if you come during a camp session, there are coaches but it is real mellow, like they are there to help you and give you tips but you can go at your own pace and work on whatever you want. for day sessions, there is no coaching. you just get to go session and do your thing.

please help me and my friends who are too broke to go to camp at least enjoy some of my summer.. please email them POLITELY asking that they have day passes this summer.. Not all of us have loving parents that can send us to camp, but I dont think we should be punished for this. Atleast have a season pass or day sessions..

contact@ohiodreams.com

PLEASE SEND THEM AN EMAIL AND LET ME HAVE SOME FUN THIS SUMMER!!

Too bad the 18 and over camps are after school starts. anyone know if you can go to a kids camp, I dont know, I'm 20, really just a big kid though

Ok, so here is a little update for everyone.

First, regarding day sessions, there will be some, but dates are to be determined. This is because some kids are going for 2 weeks in a row and are staying the weekend so we don't want too many day sessers crowding the place when campers are there. So on the weekends when there are no or minimal campers staying over, day passes will be available and when the dates are determined I will do my best to let everyone know.

Second, like I said in the previous paragraph, some kids are going for 2 weeks. Now normally this would cost $1,400, but since there are not a lot of people signed up there is currently a 2 for 1 deal so you can go to two weeks of camp for only $750 dollars. This is a seriousy awesome deal and as sign up for sessions increases, this deal may go away. So at the risk of sounding like a salesman, act today and sign up now!!!

Now, last but not least, and for everyone in the mid-west and EC, listen up. Go mark your calendars now for June 24th because O.D. is gonna be off the chain. This is the day that the DNA Evolution Tour is going to be coming to Ohio Dreams for people to session a sick summer setup and compete for some sick prizes, plus you can go ramping the same day. Think of it as the ultimate summer session for those of us who don't have the cash to get to Hood or Whistler. So go sign up online now and you can pay for ramping and hitting the rails when you get there.

This is all the news for now, but I'll try to keep everyone posted and if you have questions post them here or shoot me a PM and I will try to get back to you soon.

A week camp on the glacier in Les 2 Alpes costs $600.

Not dissing your camp, but just saying there are other options to avoid the ridiculous costs of North American summer camps. East coast to France is not that much further than to Vancouver.

Holy crap this camp is perfect for me, its like a 3 hour drive. I doubt I can convince my parents to let me go this summer, but next summer forshure.

I haven't been on the website since last summer, but their site seemed really disorganized, had next to no information whatsover either.

I'm 18 and need to work to save up money for college and other responsibilities such as insurance, cell phone bills, and gas. I would love to ramp it up there, but how can I make the 7 hour trip when there are never set dates for me to plan a trip? Also, it seems like if there were day passes they are only available on saturday and sundays? That's lame, I would want like 3 days on the ramp. I read on the site awhile ago that the ramps are only open for a couple hours a day... so beat. I don't skate or do any of that other stuff... from what I interepreted on the website it was like they were forcing you to do other activities instead of just ramping.

All ohio dreams has to do to have my money is to offer day passes everyday, have the ramps open more than just a few hours a day, and put some more info on their website so I know what the hell is going on.

Look at the Windells webiste, or COC, or any other summer camp and they easily have 10 times the amount of info than Ohio Dreams.

I'm not sure if everything I said was accurate considering I haven't looked at their site in a long time, but this post is just my impression on the camp from previously looking into going there.

It's a sick facility, but it just doesn't seem like the owners are running it to their full potential...

One last thing.... they said they are strapped for cash and if it doesn't work out this summer the bank might take away their loan or whatever.... then why do they care about a little bit of crowding on the ramp... wouldn't they want as many people to come to experiance something sick and tell their friends to go... they would be making more money. I'd be willing to wait a minute or two before dropping each time...

Again.. sorry if my information is inaccurate.

ok well I called today to see whats really up and some guy up there told me that they would not be having day sessions at all, and they are full so no more signing up, and that the dna event.. was only for the people that have signed up for camp.. plus he was rude as hell so please tell me that he is wrong and that there will be some day sessions.. and that he wasnt rude?

^^^ The DNA event is for whoever signs up, not just the kids going to camp.. I will be at camp next week and I'm not doing the DNA event and I'm pretty sure the 5 other kids in camp next week wont be doing it either.

Register on the DNA site and then you can compete...

btw i went last summer, and got 2 day passes and went 2 days in a row for the water ramps and it was deff worth the drive from northern michigan. sooooo much fun and it was such a good deal. and even if they only have a couple weekends this summer where they offer day passes, they need too so ppl like me can experience it

Are you talking about open day sessions? If so I talked to the owner (I think he was the owner at least, he was the oldest guy working there for ohio dreams) at the dna rail jam. He said they were probably not going to have any day sessions except that they are going to have a water ramp comp and you could hit it for free that day. This sucks cause I have to work 5 days a week like a normal person and it will be hard for me to get a week and spend $750 when I could be making money all that time.

chris has been in and around the sport doing so many things for different companies for years. repping for ovo and 4frnt, and working park for snow trails for many seasons. ive seen him with his young daughter on some 4frnt twins teaching her the sport he loves all the time at snow trails. the operations manager, cy has been with snowtrails for years and years, in the rental shop, ski shop, bar, he even lives above the ski school all year round! the atmosphere at snow trails every winter can only be rivaled by the positivity and support surrounding ohio dreams. the water ramps are sooooo fun, and on any given day the people riding them can be from the aforementioned tom wallisch to the local rippers we have here in central ohio. the outdoor skate park has more options than any other outdoor course ive been to in the region, and that includes skate plaza. the foam pit is days worth of fun by itself. everything surrounding this camp is about as "core" as ive ever seen. cy and chris spend day and night trying to figure out how they can really make this camp happen, not for themselves, but for the love of the sports that we all call ours. id pay $750 just to hang out there for 2 weeks. and if youre sort of lonely, spending a couple weeks around a bunch of stoked riders doesnt seem like a bad way to meet some life long friends, or (ladies) someone to take you out red lobster (AND CALL YOU BACK). check the site, pay the money, have the time of your life. period.

I just got home from camp two hours ago, and I had such a good time my parents have decided to PAY FOR ME TO FLY BACK in 3 weeks for another week of camp..

seriously.. Ive been to windells, woodward, and various other sport camps.. This is the real deal.... The DNA jam was sick, watch the video on Youtube.

THIS CAMP IS AMAZING

I live somewhat close(3small states over) so I might try to come and just pay the daily fee to use the water ramps and maybe the skatepark for a weekend.

No, it is called Powder Pack. It is similar to SnowFlex and is the same concept, but a lot less expensive. Though as the camp gets more popular, and they begin making more money, they want to gradually switch the surface over to SnowFlex.

i dont know about you, but for me camp isnt just about skiing.. Its about getting good coaching, and meeting new friends and people that like doing the same things as you.. I understand the snow thing, but Ive been to windells and they never coached me well when i was there.. at ohio dreams i learned so much for skateboarding in one week it was amazing.. plus the people who work there, live there, and go to camp there are awesome and i am stoked to have met them..

brendan i will be there week 7 i believe

if you mean at the camp, then you will have to wait until next summer. they are planning on putting in a roller to rail setup just like the DNA system in the back of the indoor park

So i'm going to chime in with a question. Seriously considering going (thank you Jibjib for posting this up cuz i never would've known about it). Should I be using older equipment? Skis and boots? Edges rust, boot liners can dry out and crack. I saw on their website that they comment on this basically saying it's ok, but is it really? I'm kinda worried about this, cuz I just got a pretty nice set up (east coast wise) and don't want to be regretting it mid season. Opinions from ppl who use this type of facility would be greatly appreciated.

if you have an older setup than use that for sure! water ramps can rough your stuff up (I say CAN because they wont always, its just like snow, there is a CHANCE)

if youre worried, then use an older setup for skis

ya, the girls counselor brook is super chill. keep it up for hte ladies, your session and one other is the only session with girls. dont let that discourage girls though, as ssaid before, brook is sick as hell, and as always dreams is sick...water ramps are sick, make the trip

ha yeah she was my counselor last week and she talked to my dad so thats why I get to go back in 3 weeks.. I thought girls went there occasionally and then I got there and they said that me and the other girl were the first ones.. both of us will be there in 3 weeks along with one other girl and i cant wait.....Brooke is amazing she hooked me up with so much cool stuff sreiously.
