Is it bad to use a little steel wool to get some minor rust off of edges?

you have to love your skis and treat them well. but since you didn't, you can buy plastic scrubber pads (not as harsh as steel wool) and the rust will come right off.

 
It was from a 5 hours car drive home. I really love my skis, like really bad. I didn't have time to dry them off very well because my family was yelling at me because we were late for something. And when I got home they were a little rusty. But is using steel wool bad?

gummi stone or diamond stone will take rust off pretty quick. dont file, though, as it may take too much edge material off.

not steel wool. that will scratch your bases. a scarp chunk of scotchbrite pad does wonders. i just did it like a half hr ago.
