so my brother and i were hanging out over in his dorm a few weeks ago and we were talking about all the games we used to play when we were little. we decided to get on ebay and order an old sega that came with like 30 games...including TOEJAM AND EARL, which was probably our favorite game when we were growing up. we only ever beat it once, so we decided to get a case of beer and play it and it was soooooo fun. now we play it like once a week and we've beaten it a couple times already. that sega was only like 15 buck and definitely, definitely worth it.
has anyone else done this? and what were your favorite old games growing up that you still love to play?

when i was little i was never allowed to have video games, all i had was sammy's science house when i was like 4, best game ever btw, and then i lost interest but bought myself a ps2 and then a 360 like last march

That's awesome.

I deffinatly was into the N64.

I never really played the sega and older nintendo stuff much..

But I always kicked ass on James Bond games.

Those were the days...

I still have skifree on my computer. Bunch of other old games I play still too but I can't think of them. Starcraft I guess but that is still famous.

well yah we definitely used to play a bunch of mario kart and other N64, especially NFL blitz
but for us it was always all about getting toejam and big earl to the zero level and snaggin some lemonade after we chill with some hula bitches in the hot tub

somehow after my sister moved out of her house she was staying in in 2nd year university into her apartment she was in for 3d, someone gave her a SNES along the way, it was some friends who didnt want it or forgot it or something. so she gave it to me, along with like all the sickest games, we got like excitebike and all the old mario's and shit. it always manages to bring a few laughs too because its in my pimpin TV cabinet with like my xbox's and wii and shit and its hooked up to my big screen.basically i think its sick to have a touch of old along with new sometimes, playing those old games is refreshing IMO, something totally different

I have a pretty ridiculous collection of Sega Genesis games laying around. I have all the old sonic games, and a ton of other ones.

DOS Games rock.

Raptor - Call of the Shadow (To this day one of the best scroll screen shooters)

Chuck Yeagers Flight Simulator

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

D-Generation

Commander Keen

Doom

Jazzy Jackrabbit

Also, Chips Challenge is SWEET.

Anyone ever play overkill for DOS? Fucking amazing game. I used to be able to beat it all the time growing up. I played it for hours a while ago and got my ass kicked constantly. Guess I'm not as good as in my youth haha.

snow brothers.... awesome game

maybe ya guys know about gauntlet legends? Such a sick game.

Banjo Kazooie and Tooie are sick too. Conker Bad Fur day. Both Zelda!

never had more than a n64

i'm not old. but i love playing Super Nintendo games like: Street fighter, dino city, ZELDA, jungle book.... oh and this star wars game i have its soooo fun

Speaking of DOS games, did anyone else play Warcraft I?

I so played Commander Keen too.

As for N64, I still play Super Smash 64 and Mario kart. Mario 64 was legit, and goldeneye was the game to play too. Ju mentioned up there gauntlet legends, which was SO fun, but I didn't play it much :(

its all about super mario Bros. 3. Ever see the movie, i think its called wizard or something. Mike Tyson's Punch out was the shit. Original Tetris. All you are saying N64. Man, I must be old cuz i was playing reg nintendo when I was little and when SNES hit the stores that was the biggest thing since sliced bread.

Haha yes, greatest game ever. I have it for my computer (N64 emulator) and I play with a 360 controllor (usb chord). It's pretty awesome.

donkey kong country

super mario world

donkey kong 64

pilotwings

ocarina of time

mario kart 64

I've played a lot of those games in the last year or so. i actually kinda just like old video games now.

it's kinda depressing that i'm one of the few people on this site who's old enough to say that N64 isnt what i think of when i think of classic video games
the bro and i just remembered that helicopter game jungle strike...so sick. and those "mutant league" sports games that were basically just like regular hockey and football games, except all the players were zombies and you could do shit like check people into spikes that came out of the boards, or call special plays where you'd throw an interception on purpose cause the ball would have a grenade in it and blow up the other team's best defender...sooooo awesome, we're ordering them tomorrow

but props to everyone who's bringing up these sweet DOS games, i need to get an emulator so i can play Heretic and close combat

Ahhhh i remember jungle strike, i broke many controllers over that game
Go to consoleclassix.com and for like $5 a month and you can play every single game for snes, genesis, nes, and a bunch of other systems, sickest shit ever.

on ps1 i would spen days playing crash bandicoot with the little tiki masks that followed you those were the good ol days.

Nintendo and Super Nintendo is where its at with games like, Donkey Kong, Didy Kong's Adventure actually all of the Donkey Kong games. All of the Super Mario Games were good too, and Yoshi's Island. And we certainly cant forget about Clayfighters that game is the shit.

i totally feel old after reading this thread. n64 is like the sweet new fanlged system for me. if we're talking old school, Im taking it back to the original: PONG! also, glorious atari- that shit was awesome. california games, pitfall, asteroids, fast food, frogger. true classics

fuck that shit. n64 is not old. its like nintendos 3rd generation council.

anything before super nintendo is old.

I have been playing alot of Nintendo lately. I have been playing alot of Contra and Duck Hunt, but last night we pulled out the Nintendo power pad and rallied some track and field, I guarantee no one on here is that old school. Now if I could only find a power glove.

Oh geeze. I woop all ass at this game. I beat it 100% (all cups with all characters) like 3 or 4 times. haha. Me and my friend used to have some pretty intense matches.

Shy Guy ftw!!

wooo i love n64, i wish i grew up earlier with super nintendo and sega.
anyone remember 3 extreme? that game was awesome, and road rash!!!!

I'm gonna go with platform consoles (not hand held) under 64 bit is old. So no, the N64 isn't old, just aged a bit.

And it can support 3D games. The Genesis and other platforms at the time all pretty much had 2D games. Where you went back and forth on the screen. Then the Genesis came out with Sonic 3D and freaked everyone out, but the game looked like shit because the platform couldn't do much more with it. Soon after, the N64 came out. And it's first game, Mario 64, ran perfectly, and looked beautiful, and was 3 dimensional.

Contra, Life Force, Spy HUnter (not the new one), RBI baseball, Allstar Baseball (you could be Babe Ruth), Ice Hockey (pick all the fat players to fight) last one Bades of Steel (fighting it was awesome)

Classic games. I was just talking about Toejam and Earl the other day. Greatest Saga Game ever.
