i agree
everyone seems to have this misconception that the ONLY healthcare we have available is the medicare program. we do also have private clinics, and private walk in clinics. the waits are caused by people training as doctors and then getting relicensed and moving to the states to make much much more than they could in canada.
the major benefit of our helathcare system is that it is available to everyone, including those who have no money, or those who have the middle income. yes you can buy FASTER health care - not better- like this video suggests. To have a surgery, you could wait for months publically, but if you have an extra $100,000 you can easily go and get it done tomorrow, privately.
this video, like michael moore and all those other flims, still had its skewed views. they only looked at what they could see, and what they could do to make it look the worst. not all clinics are closed sundays, and not all clinics you have to wait 2-10 hours to go to. its usually the bigger cities that have waits like that. and if he had had a serious injury they would have put him at top priority. i have waited in the clinic before for a while, but mainly because i had a sickness where there were people going in and out around me on spinal boards, or kids crying with two broken arms, or someone who had been in an accident. that is the price we pay to have such a good system that helps everyone.

i hurt my wrist this summer, small growth plate fracture apparently, but it hurt real bad either way
i walked into the hospital
they asked me if i was gonna die anytime soon, i said no
i went through about 5 hours of procedures and stuff
i just sat and played iphone games
i took a morning off of everything and walked out with a cast on and didnt pay a cent
i got my arm recast 3 seperate times, didnt pay anything each time
small injury, but im glad i don't have to pay for half the stuff anytime i go in
so much is covered, its way worth it

if you know doctors or have friends that know doctors, you get the hook ups. if you're just some average joe then you're on the waiting list. i know docs and got i got an mri in less than a week. but on the flip side i had to go to the emer one day because of this mole i found (skin cancer?) and had to wait 7 hours. wasn't skin cancer. its hit and miss.

Though I have had my share of lengthy hospital waits.... This guys information is definetly skewed.
The fact is, that everyone needs healthcare whether you are rich or poor. Canada's system may not be the most efficient, but it works.
In september I had appendicitis, had to wait in the ER for a long time, but eventually got my surgery. Never saw a bill. How much would minimally invasive appendix surgery go for in the US?
I'd gladly wait 24 hours if its going to save me tens of thousands of dollars... If you are in rough shape, you don't wait at all.
