So here's the condensed first part of the story
Got hired to lifts and ski school and decided to go with ski school due to health issues (indoor job). Got a housing connection from ski school but ended up basically being a local resort trying to scam really young kids (only found that out after we decided to live else where....but other kids ended up homeless).
Drove 500 miles to go to a training that got cancelled but still showed up and told I would get payed for that day. Moved up a couple weeks later and immediately got ghosted by my boss who was responsible for my payment paperwork. Then got told that they had over hired for my position and I was going to get floated to scanner unless I could ski instruct. So I agree to do that, then got told by manager basically he found a way that everyone could work our original jobs without float, but our bosses refused to sign off on it. So because I was sick of getting jerked around (there's a lot more to this story) and told him if it would be easier for him if I quit I would. So I did, and then told my hire ups I was out and that I didn't want to ski instruct because I had health problems (which they knew) and didn't want to get even more screwed by Vail
I then walked down to Lift Ops and asked the female manager to hire me back. Major shout outs to her she was an ANGEL. She also helped me make an accomodations plan for my health issues...
But then I got sick. There was a flu going around that my boyfriend got so it was probably that. But heres the thing, because of my health issues I quite literally couldn't recover. So I spent several days laying in bed alone at employee housing where my male neighbors would wait for my boyfriend to leave then try to break into our apartment and harress me through the window all day.
Oh and then I realized the weird smell in the bathroom smelled just like Crack. My neighbors where smoking crack then trying to break into my apartment all while I was basically incapacitated
Anyways after all this I was finally done so I packed up and left. Left the apartment SPOTLESS....never got my deposit back even though I was told I would and oh ya, never got payed for ANYTHING!!!
Anyways kinda small apples but the shit that went down after I left was absolutely rancid. That's the juicy part

When Vail took over Two years ago all the upper managment quit or got fired. So Vail appointed the most random, unqualified people to run things. In Lifts it was this veteran Ski Instructor who knew less about lifts than the average gaper. One day she watched her lifties sweeping snow off of one of the big dettachable lifts which they would do by walking all the way around the chair (Including in front of it). She then went up to one of the older attached chairs and told the lifties (who where sweeping from the sides) that they where doing it wrong. She then took someones broom, stepped in front of the chair and promptly got run over. Then she left

Another time said manager whom we shall now refer to as "Amy", sent out an entire crew out hours before they needed to open to shovel. After several hours of back breaking work for the lifties, she skied up to one of the shacks right as they got ready to open it and kicked everyone out so she could "Warm Up". She then flipped out that the shack was "Dirty" and tore the entire thing apart. She then left and at the end of the day when nobody could find things they needed to close, she bitched them out for being unorganized, even though it was her fault for moving everything.

Amy and one of the very sweet assistant managers whom I referenced prior shared an office. Right off the bat that season it was obvious Amy did not like the assistant manager, maybe because she made Amy look bad by not being a dumbass...idk. Anyways, towards the end of the season after a huge number of employees had already been fired Amy decided it was time for the assistant manager to go.
"Someone" reported the manager drinking at one of the mid shacks so Amy brought out a crew of higher ups, and sent them up the lift while she ran into the shack and held the phone hostage so nobody could warn the manager. They higher ups didn't see anything but found beer cans in the trash (God Forbid) and fired the assistant manager and someone else who was with her.
This meant that there was really only one assistant manager standing between Amy and total domination for the rest of the season. Sneaky

If eheath doesn't want this thread up I will respect that. While I might STRINGLY disagree with his feelings about U of U, I acknowledge that being a mod on this site must be HELL. The mountain manager sits in her office all day watches the base cameras to make sure the ticket scanners are checking every single persons pass. If she feels they are slacking she will personally accost them

Everyone's either checked-out or burnt-out and still think its like the 80's/90's when it was actually a sustainable job before Cost of Living and wages didn't stagnate, and it's all this "live your passion" bullshit. Just go find another career path and ski on your time off. It is so much better than having asshole managers pressed by their greedy higher-ups riding your ass for a fucking rich persons hobby. Anyone who has made it worthwhile got EXTREMELY lucky or has a trust-fund to back them up.
