Lmao do you have any idea how hard it is to spin around on a spherical pole-top with flat skis? And jump right into a full multiple kinked handrail after it? People fall off rails all the time, imagine now having to do a full surface swap on something that you basically have to keep perfect balance on.

His wallride was huge and steezy af, you're belittling it.

I don't think he used hand assistance to push himself up so much as keep his balance, and either way, that spot was sick.

Also, way to ignore his nollie backflip.

Just because shit isn't big doesn't mean it's not technical or fun to watch.

The multiple edits in your post shows you're struggling hard to justify a shitty position.

"Lmao do you have any idea how hard it is to spin around on a spherical pole-top with flat skis? And jump right into a full multiple kinked handrail after it? "

Its hard however if he doesn't land it, he either falls 3 ft. onto the snow or slides off a micro dub kink rail making for unlimited attempts. Its hilarious you tried to make that rail sound gnarly. I'm not belittling his wallride, it was small as fuck and similar to what other skiers have been doing for years.

"I don't think he used hand assistance to push himself up so much as keep his balance, and either way, that spot was sick."

AKA You're right, skierman. The only defense I have is that it looks neat. Great point, you fucktard.

"Also, way to ignore his nollie backflip."

I didn't. Its one of the only impressive things in his edit and yet its a circus trick any other competent skier can do. Good job, one trick should win the whole thing. Amazing logic.

Except you already tried and failed horribly. You have zero justification for your shitty opinion other than you're a The Bunch zombro fanboy. Good job in proving my point. LMAO

People bitch about him and other riders just being comp riders. It's becomes kind of a definition or them on here. Riders put down sick part, people still go with the "oh yeah they're just a comp rider" because they suck at thinking independently.

I don't give a fuck what people think of comps, that part was damn decent.

it was the burliest one, he went bigger and with more technical tricks than everyone, AND did some creative stuff you don't see much. but god forbid he rides for volkl and does comps he must be a huge sellout /s

Phil was more tech.

Yeah, I'm actually impressed by the amount of people that are feeling it, but I think it's hilarious that kids are shitting on it for no reason, because they think it makes them more core. Also regurgitating other people thoughts to hate on it. "Something something he's skis in comps and people talked shit about him in the past. Everything he does will therefor be uncool forever".

I really haven't seen many people ride like that in comps, and if they did I'd be stoked.

Honestly I was a little bummed when I saw the dub at first because I knew that's what the shit talkers would latch onto. "He did a dub, people do dubs in comps, everything he did was a comp trick!" wicked logic.

I'm all for differing opinions, but the people that say it was all comp tricks and the weakest edit are fucking retarded.

/rant

PS: I need like 10 more drinks before I can read anymore of this thread. Fuck.

I almost wish people had to wear the same gear. Sure you would be able to figure out who's who sometimes but not always, and not everyone. I feel like some people that have been getting hate, will always get hate regardless of what they throw. That shit's kinda whack.

I totally feel this. I ski on vishnus, have been a fan of the bunch ever since far out, and swerve all over the mountain, but I still thought ABMs was the best edit. Other than Henrik he's the most creative comp skier in the game IMO. People don't denounce Henrik as a wack comp skier, so why are they so anti- ABM? I have a lot of issues with slopestyle skiing, but it's mostly with the organizations that run it. Hating on comps just for the sake of seeming core or some weird philosophy about why competing is against the nature of newschool skiing is mega bandwagon-y.

I also don't really get the "rollerblading tricks" criticism. Like we're not 12 years old at the skatepark anymore you don't have to hate on rollerblading to convince people you're cool. Rollerblading tricks actually translate over to skiing really well, and no matter how hard you try to ski "skate style" you're never actually going to look like a skateboarder. If you don't like the way ABMs tricks look that's fine, but hating on them purely because they come from rollerblading is wack.

EDIT I forgot about vinni$ ABM is the third most creative comp skier lol

Yeah, this is actually hilarious. I wish there would be a way to anonymize some edits and you'd see how different the reactions would be on here.

Some skiers even if they put a meh edit together you'll see everyone licking their ballsack like it's the greatest thing since the printing press, and others no matter how many bangers they have people will hate, all because of names and reputations.

I guess we're all biased to some extent, but still fun to watch when you take a step back.

I don't even get how anything in ABM's edit had to do with rollerblading except the torque. Rollerbladers can't do backslide surface swaps, and they sure as hell don't do dubs unless it's Nitro Circus. Or misties/rodeos off of rails. If he was really taking influence from inline then he'd do makios/5/0's and try doing soul/miszou foot positions going straight forward or switch down rails, which he obviously didn't do.

Skiing is actually moving AWAY from rollerblading, since new wavers are using their tips and tails more. Rollerblades can't butter or press, last time I checked.

Creativity in skiing is not this one-dimensional aspect everyone seems to make it. Its not just the tricks. There's so many details you can incorporate into a shot. Mango's edit is filled to the brim with those fresh little details that make you watch the shots over and over again. Filming is obviously a big part of it but thats 100% part of the contest.

Does anyone know of other people doing nollie backflips? I am not trying to split hairs I just want to see more people do it cause it looks sick.

It's snowboarding but Halldor Helgasson did a nollie backflip in The Future Of Yesterday. Also, Jesse Paul did a Natas spin on the pole to double kink at the same spot as Mango in his 2017 Real Snow part (rule of 2 years...).

I guess it depends on whether we're judging the skiers' level of ability style etc, or judging the edit itself on things like aesthetics, artistic merit, level of entertainment.

I can't stop watching Brady & Phil's edit, every clip has so much subtle detail in it. The double angle for the unnatty lip 2 on with the canal gap right after.....who would pick that spot and then pick that trick? The lip fastslide 2 out, where any bail would mean getting wrecked on them stairs. That rainbow swap is beautiful. And then a whole lot of little things that sound dumb to mention, like no helmet no poles no pointless grabs minimal winches/shovels/homies in the shot. Even things like the use of colour as contrast against the grey backgrounds.....the whole edit is on another level.

The only thing that looks tacky is that dumb edgeless graphic, and the extreme close-ups on the aluminum rails.

And the music. The whole thing is extremely well put together and tasteful. Almost calming.

Didn't Steve stepp use Phil's song to make fun of the bunch or lafa?

To hard to choose they all had there own kinda flair

Mango: most creative

B dog: Best rail transfers, smoothest edit

Kimbo: Butters and taps onto some crazy downrails

Henrik: Gnarly kinked rails

Abm: Very technical, every trick was a banger

Peyben: some of the cleanest presses, nollies, ollies, butters, and taps

It doesn't matter what you assholes post because Phil is the best and he won. If you think otherwise, its because you weren't paying attention. Henrik would have won but he was too busy competing and being a social media influencer.

cool stuff dude, thank you for contributing to the discussion! Next time if you refrain from calling everyone assholes for sharing the own personal opinions, people might actually listen to you! I know using an internet forum can be a little tricky, but I'm sure you'll figure it out someday. Hope this helps xoxo

In his defense, everyone who thinks bdog didn’t win is an asshole.

In my opinion.
