Official X Games Real Ski Backcountry

In my opinion winner of this round are : P White, Sean Pettit, Pep and Wiley.

I hope that Wiley doesn't loose just because of Tanner's popularity..
 
Not even close. The only thing that Danes edit was really superior was the technical quality of the shots. Everything looked extremely clean and sharp, even within that crappy xgames player.

If it would be up to me it would be Sean vs. Wiley in the finals. I also liked the edits from Pep and Chris, but they just aren't as fresh and exciting.
 
Haha good point I wonder how many of then actually broke a sweat getting to the spots. No but I don't mean any disrespect the skiing was mind blowing I guess it's just more of an aesthetic thing it's much more appealing to see people send into freshies. An I guess I just feel like all of these guys have the resources to get out into untouched zones so why wouldn't they for this?
 
I enjoyed parkers the most for sure, too bad hes up against sammy who will probably get 1st or 2nd. Definitely pettit v sammy in the finals.
 
I hear ya on the aesthetic thing, but I guess it's something that we embraced. As far as why- the resorts in France (and most of the Alps) where this was filmed have vast "off-piste" terrain that just so happens to be partially accessible by lift. Sure you have to sacrifice some sidecountry skier tracks in the shot, or when your jump gets "poached" all day by adventurous tourists (haha), but it makes for a different and maybe more relatable approach.
 
Seriously. I get half way through the video then it just stops loading and I have to refresh. Plus it only buffers a certain amount so it's difficult to watch the videos all the way through on a slow connection.
 
Pettit's was the only one that made me swear at the screen out loud repeatedly so by virtue of that, his was the best. Sammmy 2nd.
 
P-WHITE got 2 triples now... but will we go to the olympics.? fuck he deserves to win that shit. best style out.
 
Pettit has to win this one. He charges so hard and makes everything like a piece of cake. His 180 to switch 3 was probably the coolest shot in all of the videos. (P. Whites triple back was fun to watch as well though)

Vote Wiley! Even if he doesn't win, I'd like to see his name get some recognition against T-Hall.
 
He is saying his segment would be far better if his season wasn't cut short due to an injury, and I completey agree I think dane could have put together a fuckin banger
 
Sammy's just felt like I was watching a comp skier huck in the park, but off backcountry kickers instead. Not too interesting to watch, so I'd personally choose Parker and the epic style. Sammy's gonna win though obviously, it's the xgames.

Sean's was so sick. Had more of a feel for how big and gnarly the mountains are. I'm calling him to win the whole comp.

Chris' was smoother than Pep's I think, though both were really nice to watch.

And holy shit Tanner's pillows were insane, but otherwise nothing really new. You could have told me this was filmed 5 years ago and I'd have believed you... Wiley should win but I doubt he will. People know Tanner's name too well.
 
Sammy deserves to advance based on his tree to tree transfer alone. That shit blew my mind.

I agree Sean will advance, No need to explain why.

I love Pep, those switch landings brought me back to 1242, but Chris was smoother, bigger tricks, and more variety. The win goes to Chris.

Finally the Pillow lines In Tanner's are what I believe hold him above Wiley. Wiley, obviously the better jumper but tanner showed more versatility in his edit. The win should go to Tanner.

I think the strongest round is PWhite v Sammy. Both edits were just completely banger, but I went with Sammy just because Parker's was pretty much 100% jumps. Sammy has the best all around edit in my opinion with his lines, jibs, and awesome jump game.

I think Pettit was much better than Dane on this one. Really liked Dane's footy though before he got hurt. Between Sean's incredible butter-jumps (opener and :51), classy dubs, and how big he constantly goes, I think his was the 3rd best entry.

Chris v Pep is a really tough call for me. I voted for Chris and was surprised to see him leading the vote. His super smooth jumps and technical butter tricks were fantastic. Pep's opening line was one of my favorite shots alone and the rest of his jump shots were pretty solid.

The fourth was the easiest choice for me. I chose Wiley due to his tree-taps (opening shot and another I think) that blew me away, along with his jibs (:50 and one more), and great style on his jumps. Wiley is my favorite skier so my viewing may have been biased on this one. But I think his edit was flat-out better than T Hall (even though T-Hall's log grind was banger).

There's my two cents, big props to Espn/ XGames for putting this together!
 
parkers edit was my favourite but how could you not give that to sammy. He absolutely slayed every feature, huge tricks all over the place. Totally deserves it
 
Sammy: Back to back doubles off BC kickers is fucked

Parker: More enjoyable to watch IMO, I voted for him knowing sammy is gonna win that bracket

Dane: Kinda stock, but he did get injured so his filming was cut short

Pettit: Straight slayed, so smooth. My favourite edit, hope he wins over sammy.

Pep: Opening line was my favourite of the whole contest

Chet: Butters were sick, overall it was better so I voted for him, this was definitely a tossup though.

Tanner: Some big pillow lines, he's gonna win based on the hype around him.

Yle: Loved the tree taps and wall rides, he charges pillows, hope he wins but idk it's tanner....
 
loved Sammy's edit. every trick was huge and technical, and his bouncy shredding style reminds me of Candide. come to think of it... why the hell wasn't Candide chosen as a competitor for this?
 
Thought Bench was an easy choice.

The hardest is parker vs. sammy.

Sammy treated it like a slopestyle which was pretty crazy, props to him for being hard as fuck.

Parker's was a lot more fun to watch, wasn't mostly generic doubles I've seen in pow from PBP every year. (Yes even dub flat 10.)
 
Not understanding how people call Sammy's a park edit when 75% of P Whites hits were actually in the resort. I guess people also missed the 30 seconds of Sammy straight MOBBING pillows, and tree xfer OMFG! Not to mention his very first hit is HUUUUUUGE!

Honestly if P White hadn't fucking stalefished like 3 times there would be minimal style discussion.

Realistically I think people are carrying over their love of Parkers AMAZING Sunny segment in to this.

Objectively there is no way that Sammy's is not superior in every way.
 
This was actually in line with the criteria/guidelines for the video contest. ESPN wanted more trick-oriented videos, and were not encouraging "jibs" or regular skied lines. Which is why guys like Kye and the like were not a part of it. And apparently Candide was originally invited though, but opted out...
 
i actually thought the natural stuff (nothing with a mandmade lip) in tanner's edit was sicker than in anyone else's besides sean. those were all on another level though
 
For real? That's dumb IMO but then again, it brings views right?

Chris edit was my overall favorite. Had that typical mellow Nimbus vibe that I really dig; and his dub @1:07 was reallly smooth and just a weird looking rotation.

Wiley's edit was probably my next favorite. Dope bluebird shots with some horror-frost and snow sagged tree's, sick jibs, awesome bag of tricks, good music and good editing. Not much else a guy could ask for to fit in that tight timeframe they had.

The music and editing in the rest of the edit's was not that great IMO... The vintage feel and effect's of Shaun's edit were cool but made it somewhat weird to watch. Then the music choices in every beside's Chris' and Wiley's were weird to. Pretty much everyone else had some really solid tricks and skiing to make up for it though...

WILL BE TIGHT, can't wait to see who moves on.
 
Oh for sure, its X games. I just like Parker's not give a fuck have fun persona towards skiing. Didn't vote him up just because of a triple.
 
Sammy: Threw down, hard in the paint, best tricks out there, and those pillows were sick too.Parker: So much style, the only guy who can triple without it being aerials haha, a really sick part.

Parker IMO, but Sammy will podium in real event.

Dane: Meh, could have been sick, just not enough clips.

Pettit: Greatest backcountry skiing I have EVER seen.

Not even a question, Sean wins.

Pep: Dope first line, but his edit was not too smooth, boring overall other than the switch landings.

Bentchetler: This was sweet except for that hucked dub haha, all those butters got me going.

Chris, but it's close.

Tanner: Out of control on some steep pillows, gorilla style that should stay in the park. Nothing that impressive, even his sideways pillow line was hella sketchy.

Wiley: Slayed it, this one goes to wiley easily. #vote4wiley

Wiley and Tanner was the closest in my opinion, i had a hard time choosing there. The rest seemed clear victories to me, due to better skiing, better landings, filming, editing, etc
 
I think Parker's dick has gone so far up your ass that it's poking around inside your skull, prohibiting your brain from basic functions such as reasoning and processing visual images.
