Official World Cup Thread

im hoping finals are the Czech Republic and Brazil. or at least that CZ makes it to the semis.

hmmm interesting...assumption..eh? ya but england wont win it all, well theyve got a chance, IM feelin upset CRoatia over Brasil, although brasil has their best team in yeara, and ecuador has beaten brasil, they r my sleeper, ya ecuador

OH my giiiiizzzzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyy, frings just scored one fo the goasl that will be for sure in the top 10, maybe lahms too, dirty dirty

ye germnay with a good win, couldnthave been happier

Socceroos all the way .. dont believe me... well just remeber who called it first because its going to be a cause of "I told you so"

i was at the opening yesterday in Munich, the atmosphere was rediculous. Germans have strong support which could take them far, but Brazil is still gonna be tough to beat.

norway isnt in it, too bad cus morten gamst pederson is siiick

argentina, brazil, england, france, and spain all have real chances

To start out I'm not a big fan of soccer. But I'm not trying to bash it or anything so please don't take it that way. This morning I decided to give it my once a year chance to get me hooked, I was let done yet again. I watched the Sweden vs Trinidad & Tobago game. And still after 1 hour and 10 minutes no one had scored, and it was driving me crazy. I don't know what the outcome ended up as but I just couldn't sit there and watch it anymore, it was too painful. To me it would be like watching the NBA finals and no one would score, just teams drippling and passing up and down the court for over an hour. So, once again thats just my reason for not liking soccer, and I realize my opinion may be unpopular but it just isnt appeling to me. Someone give me reason to give it another shot, because I really want to like it more than I do. Thanks.

i understand where your coming from...for games with low scores or lower action you really have to be a fan of a team or super into soccer....i suggest you watch the more intense/big games tho. anything involving france, brazil, spain, argentina, england, usa, and germany should be pretty good.

no they wern't- 1st its there 1st world cup, playing halfway across the world. second, they may have done better if they pulled it together like 20 min earlier than there 1st goal...props to them though

3 out of 11 players ok........

Theres no doubt those guys will put the ball in the net. but defense is what wins/secure games. Germany and England are way more solid all around the field, not just up front

portugal didn't play well at all.......but good teams find a way to win and they pulled off a 1-0 win against angola. personally i thought angola played horrible

brazil will prolly take it but england is a sick team rooney is dirty owen is sick and crouch is a tall basterd so ya goo england

I understand where you are coming from. It takes accustoming to. I grew up in England watching the game. I think to be a true fan you really have to respect the game and the way its played. To me that game was a tightly conmtested match between two top notch teams both giving it their all, but I guess with no goals a lot of people may find it boring. I think the reason why it is such a loved game is because it is so worldwide. What you have to understand is that this sport unites people all over the world, look at vthe Ivory Coast for example. In poor countries the children play with a ball of rags tied together and their bare feet, on glass covered ground. Unlike hockey, or Football soccer is one of the most easy games open to anyone and one of the simplest, all you need is a ball and your feet and Ive seen kids play soccer for hours on end because they are purely entertained by the joy of such a simple game. However, I do respect your opinion and I believe everyone is open to their own thoughts. Oh ya and join the soccer cult

kohl dont doubt brazil, they have kaka on defense and are gonna score enough goals that defense wont even matter, ill bet you $$$ that brazil takes home the cup AGAIN.

i also cannot wait for the US game tommorow to see how they do.

and shaka hislop, the goalie for trinidad & tobago, is officially my favorite player.

That is why soccer is soooo special. A goal actually means something. Basketball is so boring to me because everyone scores and the only real basket that matters is the last few seconds. I love soccer because a goal is a huge thing. That is why it's so entertaining and why people flip when they score. No other sport has few goals...even hockey has an average score of 6-7 goals a game. Soccer rarely gets passed 4, and if they did it was a blowout.

The England match was so boring, so was Portugal!

The Germany and Mexican games were really entertaining

Not too exited yet about the quality of the games
