I've seen a lot of'backyard park' posts lately... so instead of retyping this everytime::

Start by making the bottom 2x4 and the supports that touch the ground our of pressure treated lumber, everything else can be normal 2x4s...

Vertical supports every 3ish feet

PVC - make it shot gun with 2 2in pieces or 4 1/4 tubes. Make the holes on top bigger with a larger bit so the heads of the screws are hidden inside the piping... use screws all through out.

It doesn't matter how long the PVC piece is as long as it is held in with the screws every 2 or so feet and at the ends. Kinks are fine too, just make sure the pvc on the down part is below the flat so you don't get hung up on it.

Thanks, I'm making a pvc one. i just went out with a plain piece of pvc and laid it on the ground. We only had like half and inch of really sticky snow. it was pretty much mud skiing. It was fun

I don't know if we did something wrong or what, but we mounted three 1' (I think) PVC pipes on a 2x4 and after about 5 runs there were chunks taken out of the PVC.

yeah ive make about 5 differnt types of pvc/ wood rails. when you want to make a rainbow or roller coaster railt you have to use like 4-5 pieces of the tiny pvc so it will bend. and i works great. just becareful when screwing it in not to snap it from the pressure

 
^ what did you use under the PVC? a friend of mine bought this flewible deck shit and drilled it into that

pvc is plastic so u have to ollie onto it really low so u dont land hard and force ur edge into the soft plastics.

i find if i wait until the snow gets packy, we just make support outta the snow, works good.

i know this is snowskating but the top 2 pics show what i mean by using snow as a support

I have plans for a huge flat down rail outta flat stock metal prob 20-30- ft long. I just dont have anywhere I could use it. it soo annoying theres just no where to put it permanetly cause once that things in its not gonna be moved again. I have a 12ft straight box made with lexan its fun but pretty easy and gets old fast.

even simpler, i bought a 12' long piece of outdoor wood, screw 3 milk crates underneather (front middle back) and voila, just make sure the wood slides well

yeah u can make a day of it.... buy your supplies to build the rail, go to ice rink get sum snow and seshion all night... its a good time, costly but a good time
