Official Whitehouse response to the petition to legalize and regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol

not the point of my fucking post jesus fucking christ this is whats wrong with this fucking site. everyone just wants to get on here and try and start an argument or fight with someone.

i hope its fucking legal so everyone and their mother can grow however much pot they want.. good or bad i dont give a fuck i hope its legal! My point was, IT SUCKS THAT THE PHARM COMPANIES PUSH WEED OUT OF LEGALIZATION WHEN THEY COULD BE MAKING TONS OF MONEY OFF OF IT... am I wrong in saying this?? No, they would definitely turn a profit.

people are lazy not everyone is going to grow their own weed. if you can buy it in a store like alcohol or cigs and its not that expensive because its mass produced by large companies people will buy it.

you give me a site that supports the reform of marijuana laws as your source that marijuana doesn't impair driving? seriously???

all those articles said is that because more people out of all the ones coming into the emerg because of car accidents, were alcohol related. did they ever think that the proportion of people that drink to those that smoke is huge? maybe thats why they are finding less people coming in with marijuana related accidents because of the proportional basis?

and great, they slow down on the road. its the overly cautious drivers and the ones that hesitate longer are the ones that get other people into accidents.

I agree with you in that driving high is not a good idea.

However, it's undeniable that it is MUCH less dangerous than driving drunk. It's still driving under the influence, but they're totally different animals. I'm not trying to demonize alcohol here, I'm just juxtaposing the two.

BUT, it is true that driving high is dangerous. You can definitely be too high and do stupid shit like slow down at green lights, get confused about one way roads in unfamiliar areas, misjudge wonky intersections, hesitate for stupid reasons, etc.

Basically, DO NOT DRIVE HIGH UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU ARE SOBER ENOUGH. Since when I'm high I'm MUCH more cautious, I trust my high self to make a good judgement call on whether I'm "under the limit" for being high.

just my .02 on driving high.

Lets handle this:

- "marijuana use is associated with addiction"

Lol I should've just stopped reading here.

- "Studies also reveal that marijuana potency has almost tripled over the past 20 years, raising serious concerns about what this means for public health – especially among young people who use the drug because research shows their brains continue to develop well into their 20's"

Really? There are THC receptors in the brain that develop along with the rest of your brain "into your 20s". They make no statement and provide no proof that the effects of high-potency marijuana in lesser-developed minds are negative.

- "neither the FDA nor the Institute of Medicine have found smoked marijuana to meet the modern standard for safe or effective medicine for any condition."

This is because neither the FDA or IM would benefit from marijuana treating patients for various conditions. As an ANSO major I can tell you I've done a lot of research and reporting on the current medical industry in this country, and I can tell all of you honestly that the minds of those in charge are fueled by Benjamins, nothing more. Major pharmaceutical corporations (better known on scene as 'Big-Pharma') know that as soon as marijuana becomes legal, at least as far as treatment goes, they will lose billions simply because they will have yet to find a way to make money from it themselves. Medical corporations have even gone as far as to have the US Government sign an agreement stating that nobody, including the Gov, may negotiate the prices of ANY medications with Big Pharma.

- "As a former police chief"

This man is a biased pig. Everything he says is irrelevant. Note how they state; "legalizing marijuana would not provide the answer to any of the health, social, youth education, criminal justice, and community quality of life challenges associated with drug use. " They can, in no way, prove this. These are opinions being tossed around as reasons as to why marijuana shouldn't be legal.

This is a very disappointing response from the US Government. It shows how uneducated and ignorant to the truth Gov officials really are. It's all about money. If they can't make enough of it, it won't fly.

lol the best part about this is that they do these test at places run by the government. I remember reading a study on marijuana from Harvard a few years back and it said the complete opposite of all this.

I mean fuck do they think we are stupid, the national institute of health.. hello that has government research written all over it. I could be wrong but I would think thats a government run institution..

lol idiot.

and notorious f.a.t, get the fuck out of here, go to the nearest 100'+ bridge and jump off head first.

wait, so its ok to do tons of drugs but not own guns. i would call myself a libertarian, and i would say that means you are free to do anything you want, until it starts to interfere with other peoples rights, the majority of people who own guns aren't commiting crimes with them, so why should gun control laws be forced on them. in essence, i am against both drug and gun control laws

A lot of people would but mad people would still buy it.

If I could just go to the drug store and buy a pack of joint for 20 bucks I'd do it all the time

Cannibalism: Morally, I don't see anything seriously wrong with it, so long as the dead person consents to the act,(obviously before they die) and as long as people aren't being killed to be eaten. But, there are serious health consequences that can occur from eating other humans - google "kuru". Because of the proven health issues, and the possibility of people being killed for the purpose of being devoured... I don't think it should be legal.

Beastiality: To me the issue with bestiality falls into a similar reasoning as to why pedophilia isn't legal, because the victimized party doesn't have the mental capacity (and in the case of animals, doesn't have the means: a voice) to consent/not consent, and may be forced into the act by means of force (rape) or authority that the victimizer has over the victim.

Necrophilia: If the dead consents to a after-death sex act (again, obviously consenting before death), then the only reason I could see it being illegal is a health issue.. and I haven't looked at many studies on health issues arising from sex with the dead, so I can't argue one way or another... but I would like to see the data on that before it becomes legal, as I could see some serious health problems arising from contact with vulnerable (clinically) parts of the body touching an infected person.

People shouldn't attempt to judge legality by what they think is "gross" or not "gross". I think eating shit is gross, but that doesn't mean it should be illegal.

our government hasn't changed in over half a century.

what's going to change it now? ron paul?

you're still an idiot and marijauna will never be legal. your "narrow mind" clearly can't see the big picture.

my dad smoked cigs for over 30 years, he hasn't had any negative side effects from them, he quit cold turkey about 8 years ago and never complained about it.

meh. /devils advocate

You're saying our government hasn't changed since the 60's? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You're a retard.

You can't "handle this".

"marijuana use is associated with addiction"

People can be addicted to masturbating. Just because there are no physically addictive chemicals, doesn't mean something wont develop common addictions.

- "neither the FDA nor the Institute of Medicine have found smoked marijuana to meet the modern standard for safe or effective medicine for any condition."

If you seriously think that the entire "big-pharma" as you call it in the scene which you are not in, doesn't have hundreds of analysts far better and more educated than you ready to make business plans on every new drug entering the market, which includes marijuana, you are out of your fucking mind and so conceited that i am amazed you can see your keyboard with your head so far up your ass.

- "As an ANSO major"

YOU are apparantly a biased pig.

- "These are opinions being tossed around as reasons"

Opinions are reasons you uneducated turd. What is a reason for anyone's lifestyle choices, every lifestyle choice can be reduced to an opinion by asking why three or four times.

Why do you keep insisting that this is a simple argument when there are clearly so many different factors to consider in this situation, all readily available for researching.
