Official Weather 2011/2012 Thread

this winter really isnt that bad. I was watching the news and they said last year we only had 8 inches on the ground up until 1/12/11 then we started getting dumped on. Hopefully the same thing will happen this year

a solid 15" at Mt. Snow today, with nice wind blown drifts to just eat right up, everything was a little chopped up but that's the way I like it. Lets hope things will keep up and let the trees build some base, they were a bit sketchy today.

yeah, and thursday/friday were deep at MS as well, without the crowds. Not too many trails open, but the ones that were had a great base and the accumulation throughout both days made for consistent softness. For my only 2 east coast days of the season, that was about as good as it gets. Dipset west for this weather gem and a few big mountain comps in February. http://unofficialnetworks.com/powder-alert-northern-corners-66741/ The snow seems to follow me and I couldn't be happier with that. May this be the first of many to come

well we had a big blizzard on December 27th as I recall a surprise nor'easter 2'+ in many locations, then a thaw lost most of it, then on January we got dumped on again another big storm, this year seems much different and not as wintry, but it seems to be building....

"Oh hai, I heard the word rain, so I'm going to bring you some more rain Wednesday."

-That bitch Mother Nature

Storm track just keeps taking the storms north through Ontario and Quebec, tossing us in the warm sector giving us snow->mixed->rain that sets up to wonderful ice as the cold filters back in after the rain has ended.

according to the all knowing accuweather.com there is no snow predicted for 15 days and highs of over 40 almost every day. oh nose. if this weather keeps up i doubt my mountain will even be able to stay open till march

Straight from the Burlington NWS office:

.SYNOPSIS...

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL RIDGE INTO THE NORTH COUNTRY THROUGH

FRIDAY. DRY WEATHER WITH NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED.

NEXT CHANCE FOR SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND

OVERNIGHT AS A WEAK SHORTWAVE PASSES THROUGH THE AREA. THERE WILL BE ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SOME WEAK SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...AND YET ANOTHER CHANCE FOR SNOW SHOWERS ON TUESDAY. ALL OF THESE SYSTEMS WILL BE FAIRLY INSIGNIFICANT WITH ONLY LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS. THERE ARE NO LARGE SCALE STORM SYSTEMS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT WEEK.

I've come to terms with the suck-age that is this winter. Anything we do get is just a bonus at this point.

who got some in this past weekend, I know I did, Whiteface was stashtastic on saturday and sunday, 28 inches out of the two storms, I was in heaven, really lifted my spirits during this bleak winter...... somethings brewing up again though......
