What’s up NS.

We are stoked to announce the return of The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series for the 2013/2014 season. For those unfamiliar, The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series (PPOS) is a freeskiing tour featuring slopestyle, halfpipe, and rail jam skiing. As one of the only open-format event series, amateurs have the opportunity to compete alongside top pros.

This years scheduled stops are:

Copper Mountain December 6-8, 2013

- Halfpipe

Whistler Blackcomb January 14-18, 2014

- Halfpipe & Slopestyle

Stratton February 20-22, 2014

- Slopestyle & Rail Jam

The Copper Mtn. halfpipe event will also serve as a last chance qualifier to get into the U.S. Grand Prix, which is the Olympic qualification series for freeskiing athletes in the U.S., and will ultimately select the athletes who will compete for the U.S. Olympic Freeskiing team at the Sochi Winter Olympics in February.

We will be around all season to keep you guys updated and answer any questions you may have, so feel free to ask away.

Athlete registration opens on November 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. on www.thenorthfaceppos.com.

Get Stoked!

Was so stoked when I looked at the AFP calendar and saw that Copper was both pipe and slope. Super bummed to find out it's not from this announcment!

We made a mistake on the events date for Whistler Blackcomb in the OP. That stop will actually be January 13-16, 2014. The correct dates were listed on the website and FB pages if you have visited either of those.

@ndye - We had a rail jam at the Waterville Valley stop last year. Highlights can be seen at http://thenorthfaceppos.com/videos/

SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS!?

Not cool at all with this year's setup. No slopestyle in copper is a huge blow for competitors in all of Colorado, which, if you haven't noticed, is the premier slopestyle competition area in the world!

And stratton same weekend as aspen open? I'm honestly really bummed about this whole situation. A lot of good riders are being excluded from a sweet opportunity to compete. Could there at least be like a rail jam in Copper?

word is you have to be a member of USSA and FIS this year.. really hope not cause i wont be competing then.

if the rumors are false ill be there at Stratton

to me this kills the point of an open competition. by the time you're done with the registration fee, USSA and FIS fees it's not worth it at all.

Lame if thats the case. They should just rename it the park and pipe series. It defeats the purpose of an open if you need a membership to compete in it.

Fuck the USSA and FIS membership. Before last year open comps were open. Now they add this. Stopped competing 2 seasons ago cause the way this shit was heading
