Hey guys, looking to move from the city to Tahoe for this upcoming winter. Any recommendations on how to find housing would be much appreciated!! Im a 24 yr old, pretty rippin skier and have an ikon pass so I'd be sticking around Squaw mostly, with some BC days peppered in here and there.

Yooo, I'm in the same boat as you... living up in Tahoe most of the winter and skiing Squaw mostly. I'm looking for people to shred with on the weekdays. Let me know if you wanna meet up sometime.

looking for a rossignol/look mounting jig to mount up a new pair of skis if anyone has one cuz fuck paying $60 for some jamoke to fuck up my skis

If anybody needs or wants a filmer/photograpaher lemme know. I have an epic and ikon pass and i'm trying to get behind the lens to shoot stuff

I don't ride too hard generally but I pretty much live at Northstar for better or worse. Usually ride after work. I'd trade beers for some pics or clips.

Hey I just posted this as a separate thread in CA regionals, but in the interest of actually getting this seen given idk how active the regionals are...

Me and 2 buddies are coming up from LA to Squaw this Friday 1/14 thru Monday 1/17. Does anyone have an extra bedroom we could crash at, or failing that, would be willing to let us park an RV overnights in your driveway? We can throw you some cash or take you for drinks, were very easy and respectful guests. Would be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively, do you know if you can park an RV in any of the lots at Squaw or Alpine?

Thanks!

Justin

There's an rv park by boca lake/glenshire near truckee. Worth looking onto as a backup plan. Not super close to squaw but not that far.

Coming out To ski the 1-4 of March.

I've got northstar 50% offs but i dont think they work at heavenly. They might though. Also have half off squaw and homewood comps(i think theyre still valid)

I’m gonna be doing a short trip in stateline. Probably won’t ski anywhere else.

Also bringing just boots. Any recommendations for ski rental shops in Stateline?

Ah true. Not sure on rentals. Hopefully we get some snow. If not the weather has been gorgeous at least.

Anybody around tahoe have a backyard park and want a dish to jib? Don't wanna take it down unless I find someone who wants it. Don't have a yard really so I'm not gonna ride it.

******* SOLD********That went friggin quick. I should have asked for more. Originally was thinking of listing it for 5, glad I asked 650. I put it up on facebook and CL last night, had 10 people wanting to come over today and tomorrow to check it out, and more people commenting that they wanted it.

I might try and build some ramps for people for cheap to get people skating all summer. Kid was stoked. Raddest friggin mom.

Selling my ramp sometime before I move.

Might as $500 on NS. Listed it for $650 on Facebook and CL. At least $750 in materials in it and she's already build ready to skate.

22' long, 29" tall, 8' wide, 8' long flat bottom.

Both quarterpipes were built independent so when the masonite is popped off they'll come off easily intact for moving. The frame for the flat bottom will be easy to pull apart and put back together.

1 qp was originally built 6'wide so built a 2' wide extension to fill it out. One side has steel coping one side has pvc. Both qp's have 2 layers of ply. Flat bottom is 3/4" ply. 1/8" masonite is still in good shape. Sheet metal on the decks.

Can tear it apart and help you put it back together. Should be able to tear is apart, move it, and have it skating the same day pretty easily.

I figured I'd chuck it up on here on the off chance anyone here was interested.

Having some friends over tomorrow to skate the mini and grill food before I have to move the ramp.

Figure I'd invite some tahoe cats. Im in Kings beach. Give me a shout if you wanna hang. BYOB and meat but there will be some extra stuff as well. Figure nobody will see this but felt like I should offer.

Tomorrow Sunday 28th.

Weather is 65 and sunny. Seems like a prime day to skate. Might even hit the pool near my house.

yes everything is shut down. bars/restaurants are closed by 10, mostly take out only, though a few have outdoor dining if you don’t mind eating in a parking lot. hopefully you’re not flying, a friends mom was headed out within the past month and in between flights her hotel called to cancel on her (minus the booking fee). All resorts in south lake are requiring guests sign papers saying that they’re an essential worker.

are you?

We’re staying off resort in a private house so I’m not too worried about our lodging getting cancelled. I was more so curious to see how strict everything is. Maybe things will start to open back up in a few weeks

Hi everyone,

total shot in the dark here since I know housing right now in the area is brutal, but figured I would post something anyway... does anyone have a room or couch or know of one I could rent/sublet for the next 3-4 months? Preferably looking in the incline village/kings beach/truckee area, but housing is so scarce I’ll take anything I can find in the greater Tahoe area. I’m super flexible and willing to work with anything really since it’s not a renters market right now at all. Dm me if you know of anything! Thanks guys

Good luck man!

What do you guys thing will be less of a shit show for November... Heavenly or Northstar? Planning on going monday the 22nd have been itching to get some turns in, know it will be shitty but which will be less shitty?

Epic resorts will be so fucked in Tahoe this year. Epic pass sales are through the roof. I have some visibility into the Kirkwood hospitality market and rooms are booking out 2-3x faster than ever before this year. Heavenly and Northstar will be even busier.

That being said, the Nevada side of Heavenly is probably your best bet. The elevation helps with holding snow, so you won't be stuck to the white ribbon of death at early-season Northstar. The rain on Monday wasn't nice to the lower elevation resorts.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'm hopeful for not the entire season being a shit show, many of the new season pass holders probably figure the pass was cheaper than individual days for their annual vacation or whatever but no doubt it will still be crowded. The pass I mainly got to ski Kirkwood, if it's that bad next year I'll just go back to being a Sierra pass holder haha

Heavenly has a lot of fragmented runs they open early season. Can be pretty lame honestly. Also there psrk has been under whelming at best in recent years. Northstar might not have much terrain open either but you might get some longer turns in and the park setup will likely be fun regardless of how little snow they have.

Northstar also has one of the best snowmaking systems in Tahoe. If it cools down enough, they might be able to open a run or two off the top of Comstock. It looks like there's still a little bit of snow up there. Lately Vista is the only chair that turns on opening day.

Yeah it's a bummer. I know it's been warm. I'm still in a group chat with the snowmakers there.

That park has been pretty sick for jist being vista but for turns its a little lacking. Hopefully west ridge/lugis gets some productive nights. Thats a decent run to lap comstock

Or if they can get skid open and have a vista lap.

It's warm af and pissing rain in WA though. Temps dripped and crusted but not begore out snowpack ate shit.

Hopefully we can crush monday night for a few nights and get open. Whole west coast seems to be struggling. Same shit different year kinda though.

Do they get the park open for opening day?? Or even by that Monday. That's crazy if so. Buuuut probably not in any shape to hit the park first day back if I'm honest.

Do you know what lifts do they usually run ? Looking at the trail map I'm guessing Tamarack for sure, probably Sky express next.

If it's just Vista that will definitely be pretty lame. I think I need to decide the day before basically and just go to whichever one has more terrain open by then. I have never been to either but from what I hear Heavenly is slightly more crowded, but both are quite bad.

I have been following the storms and they've all been fairly warm, so I'd imagine heavenly accumulated & held the snow better. Northstar for sure got more precipitation but a lot of it was rain which washed a lot of it away. Was watching the time lapse cam at Kirkwood and was really sad seeing the rain washing away the fresh pow :'(

Being in Washington I'm sure you can relate lol

Welp no skiing in November for me looks like. Northstar and Heavenly pushed back their opening day. Might just go to Kirkwood in December then.

I might look like an idiot two weeks from now but I really really reeaaaallllly hope the 12z GFS is right about Nov 29th - Dec 2nd+ storms. Looks like 3+ feet from the first atmospheric river 29th-2nd. Then another wave of snow starting Dec 3rd but that's as far as the models goes. Since both are 10+ days out it's probably a pipe dream. But I can hope.

Pony up for a day pass or two at Mammoth if you need to scratch that itch until December. The mountain is legit rn. The elevation has helped to keep the snow in decent shape. It feels like spring skiing out there.

Fingers crossed we get another storm soon. 10+ days out is a pipe dream at this point, but it's still better than the warm high-pressure systems that have lingered all month

Aghhh I want to but I can't do the $120 lift ticket and 6 hour drive. I've seen it though and you're right. I am impressed with the coverage. Some spring skiing sounds great right now. Oh well.

Kirkwood and heavenly upper mountain isn't looking bad either. Shoot, even the top of Sierra, not that that matters much. But, getting sparse at about 8000-8500 and bone dry at 7500. At least some of that October snow will stick around the upper mountains. One good storm to kick things off in December and I'd call it a good enough start to the season.

Mad late response but northstat always has a park for openong day. Usually pretty good. Heavenly usually doesn't. I heard heavenly might be focussing on park more again but that place got pretty shitty for a while. No early season park and a shitty park when they did open one. Very unimpressed. I once had to steal a rake there to hit some rails because small 6 inch pow day went ungroomed. Park crew showed up at 11 while i was seshing a rail. Uninspired park and crew 3 thumbs down.

I only live in tahoe for 3 years and heavenly never had a good park. Never even a decent park honestly.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all.

Resorts are starting to open! Boreal has been making snow like a motherfucker. They are opening Friday. We looking at some storms coming possibly 4th-8thish.

Look at this shit. These motherfuckers are crazy. Putting the Vail resorts to shame.

Full discosure, I did not hit up the park when I was there, though I did see a bunch of jumps from near the top of vista. And according to their website...

So looks like you're good to go. Enjoy.

Skiing Squaw/Alpine Friday-Sunday if anyone will be around. Hoping the ikon blackout means crowds won’t be too crazy.

Damn! Work today and blacked out tomorrow. Have fun! I'm curious to see how the blackout effects things.

Soooo did winter decide to end early this year or what? Thank god December was historic because it's been equally historically bleak since
