Official Subaru Owners thread

My 04 Subaru outback 5 speed. I loved that thing 284k. Rusted out pretty bad undernear but I loved it by far my favorite car I've owned.

985528.jpegmy 09 Impreza 5 speed sold it at just under 100k miles. Wasn't super impressed with the engine thought itd be a bit quicker for what it was. Had the base model and the interior felt cheap. Just wasn't totally impressed.

my boy got the cake and drives an impreza. Wish I had something small like that. I drive a flippin tank of an suv that only gets like 12 to the gallon and uses a quarter tank for every day I ski. He gets amazing mileage and only loses 3 seats. Ngl though it's hella fun to jam 7 teenagers in a car and blast up the mountain with everyone just partying, watching a movie on the screen in the back, and me and shotgun jamming to some noice tunes lol. Wouldn't give that away for anything.

The EJ253 is like me: a disappointment

2016 crosstrek hybrid. Kinda wish I got non-hybrid version after driving both versions but it is what it is. Serves me well in snow with my Firestone winter force 2s. That’s all I ask. But the engine is a dog..

That depends entirely how tall you are. If you’re 6 feet and under I think you can make it happen.

I’m thinking about getting one of these, how roomy is the back for sleeping in?

I am part of the club now!

Got myself a new impreza hatchback!

I expect to drive it for the next 10-12 years hahaha

Just get forester struts. Cheap and effective

Yo what's up everyone, I need some advice. I'm trying to "adventurize" my '12 impreza wagon and I'm debating a lift kit. It has no power so I've decided if I don't have power I at least want to have more clearance. Has anyone lifted an impreza and if you did what was the experience like? (How did it drive, did it affect mpg a lot, etc)

Not mine but my buddies' ?2017 Rice Rocket?

Catted DP, Cobb Stage II, XSPower BOV, APR carbon wing, Perrin Strut Brace, GrimmSpeed TMIC and powder coated charge pipes, Grimmspeed CAI, Full straight pipe, Carbon Hood, Subispeed V2 headlights, other Grimmspeed engine bay decor

*cries tear in north american*

These are actually legal to import to the US under some weird law, even though they don’t meet the 25 year old requirement. Knew a guy who did it, they’re some badass fucking cars

“Some weird law”

You see it in florida, a lot of badass jdm cars that are less than the legal import age. Something like the state of florida will title and register damn near anything, but it doesn't mean the feds won't crush your shit if the car gets impounded for any reason

No no I’m serious, there’s a really like low key, lesser-known law that allows the Forester STi specifically (no other JDM car), to be imported completely legally

2013 Outback is mine

2021 Outback for the wifey

2010 Impreza hatchback for the daughter

yup. but better not plan on selling it before it's 25 years old or people will think you're trying to pass off an illegal car. A dude on a American subaru buy/sell page got absolutely roasted trying to sell a 2004 forester sti. Out of about 300 comments there was maybe one guy that believed the car was legal.

A few years back I had a 2008 Legacy GT Spec B.

Sold that after less than a year and got a turbo FRS, which is kinda a Subaru I guess.

Now looking for the next project...

Ok so i think the current gen STIs look pretty good, but the levorg is so fucking ugly. Looks like a mom car, and it looks huge too. I love the old legacy wagons, but this is gross imo

That looks like the offspring of a Lexus CT and WRX got the worst genes from both parents

Need advice from people who are more mechanically inclined than myself. I have a '12 impreza wagon and I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to give a lift (something around 2-3 inches) and marginally bigger tires to help it be a little more capable. I really don't want to deal with trading the car in or selling and getting something else but would something like this make the car suck in any aspect? Are there better alternatives to lifting I could look at?

I do not intend to do any of this myself, I'd pay someone else to do any work

Wouldn't be worth it imo. For the price you'd spend you could put it towards a much more capable jeep cherokee or 4runner or something. Like you'd spend a good amount of guap and still have the clearance of a stock pickup truck.

There may be fanboys who say otherwise but if you're not doing it yourself your money is better spent elsewhere imo

What is a car with good stock clearance that's a little cheaper, ie not a 4runner or tacoma

Crv, rav4, older blazer, s10, colorado, cherokee, ford ranger/mazda B series pickup, most any half ton american pickup that's older.
