So what are you all planning for this year? It's a monday which means university from 9-5 the next day for me, however its two of my friend's birthdays, so there's no way im missing out. i plan on being in the pub with my first guinness by lunchtime once my classes are finished for the day, and just seeing where the day/ night takes me.

post your plans/ stories/ photos/ music/ anything at all relating to one of the best days of the year

)

i second this.

My school closes down a street right near campus and lets students party on it for the day. Generally it is packed by 11 around six it empties out and everyone goes home and has a nap and then wakes up and goes to the bars, more drinking all night.

Good Canadia... errr I mean Irish fun.

Hopefully what I did last year with the exception of number 3:

-Get drunk on the T (purple line if you are a Boston hardo) into Boston

-Get drunk in Boston

-Get drunk in the bars in Boston

-Bother people on the T on the way back.

Should be fun.

1. Go 2 skool2. Go 2 swiming

3. Go 2 boyscoutz

4. Get beat by dad cos im a nerd

5. turn down 4 nuthing

What kind of asshole calls it hte purple line?? haha

Saturday will be 12 hours of dropkick murphys

/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

a morning of irish car bombs and an afternoon of people watching every scummy asshole in southie get obliterated and fight each other

I've heard the celebrations aren't as crazy as here and they celebrate it more like you would Thanksgiving, with a family dinner and such. I could be wrong though.

Met two kids from Boston last semester and they tried to give me and my friend shit because we called the purple line the T (which it fucking is)

oh don't think that having class the next day is going to discourage me. all i'm saying is its gonna be a rough hangover, but 300% worth it

No, it's not. It's the commuter rail. The colored line names only apply to the subway and for some reason the silver line. It's not completely incorrect to call it the purple line, but if you call it that then you might as well start saying you're shipping up to beantown. That way everyone can be certain that you aren't from Boston, or even Massachusetts.

You don't hear people calling city buses the yellow line, do you? Same concept.

In my 22 years here on planet earth I have never celebrated st patricks day, and it looks like Im not going to this year either.

Have you ever been? I went to southie to watch and hated it. Holy crap ... 95% of the population there = filth. Living human excrement.

eh..its still the T because its run by the MBTA, it's just not the subway

I agree with you on all other points though

^bombo the people there are insufferable, it's like going to the zoo and watching gorillas fight each other - still highly amusing

I watched some girl kick a guys teeth out last year. Teeth went flying, blood spattered on a brick wall. Everyone was hammered past the point of being fun, fights everywhere, people throwing stuff, cops constantly having to push you out of the way to get to stuff. I will never ever go back to that pit ever again .

And if anyone on here lives there I truly feel sorry for you.

Judging southie on st patricks day is like saying Foxboro is the busiest town in new England because you visited one time during a pats game.

depends entirely on what part of southie you're in.

Yeah thats what they called it, the commuter rail. Im from NH, i go to Boston a few times a year so im not suprised i dont know the proper term but now I do.

One of our pledge's parents are going to be out of town for the weekend, so we're going to throw a rager in his house. We just need to find somebody to buy us alcohol.

I was going to say you should be drinking irish car bombs in the 10 minutes between classes at the campus bar! Or beer in a thermos. Keeps it cold...

I took the orange line in once and not only saw a fight but also saw a homeless man piss in his seat.

As for Southie, probably gonna steer clear. I tend to get a little agressive verbally when im drunk so it probably wouldnt be the best place for me.

If any of you Boston kids or any NSers are going down there we should try to meet up, nothing better than meeting fellow drunk NSers.

Don't get me wrong the rest of boston is amazing on st paddies and the night before. Mcgreeveys was awesome right on boylston

im confused. you say pledges so that implies a frat, but you are trying to find somebody to buy alcohol. how the fuck does somebody in a frat have trouble getting booze? that was early high school shit

Well yeah, we're a high school frat.

And I talked with the Vice President today, his older brother is going to buy us a couple suitcases of budweiser, so the rager is on. #turnup

i always think of this song, of the boondock saints, and reminisce my days in IRELAND AS A YOUNG LAD DRINKIN IN THE FARMERS FIELDS AS THE SUN SETS OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND PLAINS!

not really. but thats what i envision.

I plan on doing what I did last year, which was making a ton of green jello shots for everyone and drinking too much. Unfortunately I will need to nurse my hangover while at work the next morning but o well, can't have everything in life.

2 mother flipping finals on st paddy's day. I'm done with them that day though, however everyone else will just be starting, so no one will be able to party :(
