I think Tanner has already cemented his place skiing world. The vast majority of skiers still have mad respect for him and anyone who doesn't is clearly a clown. Even my mom who only started skiing 10 years ago knows who he is, and I didn't tell her. Tanner might be progressing and doing insane tricks, especially for 35, but he isn't pushing skiing the way A Hall is. He definitely is pushing it by proving that age doesn't really matter, but there are a lot of younger skiers who can also do the tricks he is doing. Probably not with as much steeze, but still. Tanner is already in the very top tier category of skiers and has been for years. A Hall, however, only recently moved into this category. While it is true A hall might have been in it for a few years now, over the last year he really proved he belonged up there with the legends. He destroyed comps with insane tricks and style, while also putting out one of the best segments and one of the best movies of the year. No one else dominating this hard in comps and putting out insane segments, especially no one his age. He moved from one of the best to possibly the best this year. Meanwhile Tanner has proven that he deserves to stay at the top, but isn't moving up.
