Official ski company request thread

A thread for consumers to make requests for a product/change and for companies to respond or give a rebuttal.

Example:

I’d like for ON3P to bring back the red/orange bases from a few years ago. Or at least change offer a new color. I don’t have anything against the green bases, I just think it would be cool to see the old ones.

Atomic needs to bring back the Blog

Salomon needs to bring back the SPK boots and update them slightly.

Now that they “own” armada they should rebrand the spk as an armada boot since armada is their park/freestyle brand

Dear Full Tilt,

Please bring back the Tom Wallisch pro-Timberland edition.

With some adjustments to the construction of the boot i.e. tighting that massive heel pocket, possibly adding a 3rd buckle and some different stiffness and liners in models they would sell like hotcakes or full tilts in 2008. Plus an SPK pro with the leather on it was one sick ass looking boot.

686 please restock the motorhead jackets and never get rid of them

much appreciated xx

When I was a kid in the mid 90's I had a pair of scott holographic goggles that had killer fucking bees on the lenses.

More of those would be rad

Make a half-edgeless ski. Edgeless underfoot, but edges in front and behind the underfoot section that slides on rails. Not sure if it’s possible, but ever since I’ve heard of full edgeless skis I thought this could be an interesting compromise

They did that a few years ago with the Ghost FS

They still sell that boot but only in an 80 flex I believe, I have the ghost 100's and swear by em

All plastic ski molded like a penny board, with some cross bracing welded to the edges for rigidity. Wouldn't rot, and would be a hell of a lot cheaper than the epoxy and fiberglass needed most normal skis.

I want a sustainable park ski. Don’t know shit about making a ski but full wood core, no poplar, recycled steel edges, plastic hand picked out of the ocean and transformed into base layers and sidewalks made from olde English 42 oz bottle caps oh and a graphic from the blood of an emo kids freshly slit wrist. Made in the USA somewhere... took a sarcastic turn but for real advancements towards sustainable skis would be doooooope

Moment did this with the frankenski, didn't turn out very well.

Would 100% break or not be stiff enough.

Yeah if you suck at welding or make it entirely out of plastic. How do you think penny makes a longboard with no metal in it?

So a Walmart ski? Yeah no thanks

Idk how you jump to that conclusion. Would be more of a street ski anyway, as you could have sturdier materials underfoot, and the rest of the ski would be much lighter.

Like plastic skateboards from Walmart like penny boards

Never understood why people think vishnu compares with on3p durability, they're cheap china skis lol

I and about 1,000 other people would disagree on that statement dog

ive seen delam on every pair of vishnus, not saying they're not more durable than edollos, but def not the same quality construction as on3p

Vishnu, On3p are the most durable out rn (for a flexy ski not like a Head ski)

Never seen penny boards at a walmart, just the shitty knockoffs. My point is that there is a walmart version of most things you can buy, and that’s a stupid reason to go “ooh walmart ____, no thanks”

And I really don’t see a huge issue here. Lay something welded to the edge for rigidity, and mold it into plastic. Sure, really different from anything on the market, but shit, most ideas here is along the lines of “BRING THIS OUTDATED PRODUCT BACK PLSSSSS”. I get it some stuff is genuinely missed, but if you want discontinued products back from huge companies like K2 or Salomon, here is probably not the place to ask them. On the other hand, companies like Vishnu and ON3P, who actually interact with their customers can actually make a difference based on the niche consumer demand that drives a substantial percentage of their sales.

No matter how well you take care of a ski, it won’t last forever. Skis rot and absorb water over time, especially with coreshots, edge pull outs, and remounts. Plastic does not suffer the same issue, and can be a consistent material to the base, so core shots wouldn’t even matter. Again, I do not own a ski conpany, nor do I own a plastic mold, so this is just an idea that maybe someone who knows what they’re doing could find a way to properly impliment that.

I can see why this would be a good idea, but will plastic be able to hold up on the skiers weight and have any flex? It would be dope to have a clear plastic ski with a recycled topsheet of a bunch of plastic shit and I think the idea is a great one but that would be like a ETT episode from Signal Snowboards (if u know u know), I don't think it would be sustainable as a base.

I mean penny boards are only like a foot long and if you bounce on them they flex so much. Imagine how much 6 foot long ski would flex... I think its a cool idea and I like the thought of a ski that won't rot but I'm not sure there are plastics available (for any reasonable price) that are going to be up for the job.

Rossignol did it about 15 years ago...

Like I said, there are planty of design kinks that would have to be worked out. I think with the right layering or even some fiberglass completely surrounded by plastic could get the ski stiff enough for urban/low speed use. I’d butter around on some noodles, but probably not worth it to try to get it to the performance of anything meant to go fast.

Just because something comes from China doesn't mean it's crap. My Vishnus are definitely more durable than the lines I've had in the past (both from China) They're definitely not as durable as on3ps but I think the whose theory of "everything from China is garbage" is a little outdated
