Tmorry - Why is it our duty to give benefits to people who are here ILLEGALLY? I dare you to try to cross into any country in Africa, Asia, South America, or some in Europe, illegally. Chances are you will get shot, imprisoned for years, tortured, or all the above. It is not our duty to cater to illegal immigrants.
XXscratchxx - Hypothetically speaking, let's say we do just walk out of Iraq right now. What sort of statement do you think that will make to Al-Quida and the terrorists? That they can beat us if they wait us out? That we are not commited? That we will falter? That we are weak? Do you honestly think terrorists are going to shake our hand and leave us alone? That they will no longer bomb or attack us because of it?
freestyle_rich - if that's the case, then the 'poor mexicans' should immigrate legally like the millions
of others who have done so already. What incentive are we giving them to cross the border legally if
there are no reprecessuions and just as many benefits to do so illegally? How does that make legal
immigrants feel?
Darkfranchise - "over 1800 americas have died fighting a war that 90% of the world thinks is wrong." Wow! that's amazing. You mean to tell me that nearly 5.9 billion people adamently oppose the war? With such compelling numbers, you'd think Bush wouldn't have had a chance to win the last election? Also, if a dominating majority of the world opposed what Bush is doing, why not completely embargo the US and cut off all ties already?
Eastcoast5 - "And all this can be changed if you cross an invisible line to a place where you can make a good living and help your family. what the hell do you expect them to do?" - I expect them to find some way to do it legally. People die from starvation every day across the world. Does that mean we should let people go ahead and steal? What about the people who are barely making it and trying to run a market? How do you think they feel about people stealing? In india, if you steal, you get your hand cut off. But you know what, Theft is not that common because they know there are harsh consequences.
XXscratchxx - "well there would be a logical reason to solve the problem...help mexico get out of debt" But wait, isn't the United States already involved in too many people's business as it is? The United states government gets yelled at up and down for being involved in too many foreign affairs that don't concern them, and then gets ripped apart for not doing enough? Double standards?
