This thread is for posting and discussing all things pga championship

There's a lot of hype around Mickelson and Tiger and it'd be awesome for them to duke it out in the final round, the course at oak hill also seems to be really tough this time so it'll be interesting how the rest of the field does.

I would really like to see tiger win this major, it will no doubt fuel him to win a few more before he retires. I thought for sure a year ago he was gonna just fade away, but hes on fire right now. No doubt he'll be around for awhile still.

^

Yep tiger is definitely on fire this year, really hoping he wins this. He absolutely slayed the Bridgestone Invitational this past weekend. Friday he scored a 61 and pretty much played perfect. Make it two wins in 10 days, that'd be sick!

If tiger plays as good as he did last weekend, the rest of the field better be worried. He is on a tear and is playing as good as ever. If he started hitting a few more fairways he would be unstoppable. I think that is his only down fall right now. Irons and putting are on point!

dont really want to see tiger take it, but theres a good chance he's gonna. i see rory playing good and from reading others prediction's hunter mahan and dustin johnson should have a chance

I'd like to see another Tiger win. Golf is more exciting when he's playing well (except last weeks tourney since he boned the entire field). A close matchup between him and Phil is always fun to watch.

got tickets for sunday with a few friends, does anyone have any advice for spectating at a major tournament like whether to follow a group around or stay at one hole? never been to one before so it could be confusing

It just depends I guess. My friends and I always pick a group and follow them around. Some tournaments I've stayed on one hole to see everyone. If I were you I'd follow Tiger/Phil whoever you like or the leader and then try to find a good spot on 18 to watch the leaders come in.

Sorry for the dubpost but what I usually do especially on a Sunday would be stake out a specific hole, pick a nicer one and watch the players role through, don't hope on the "follow most famous pros around the whole course" train and get to see the back of peoples heads, in between groups of players the holes become relatively empty, that should grant you a good look at a wide range of pros. Have fun man!

I was watching last weekend and they said between his wins at just these past two courses over his career he could easily make the hall of fame. He has like 14 career wins and a major at the past two courses played...most guys in the hall of fame have 14 career wins and a major over there entire fucking career every course included

He's too damn good

I dont believe Tiger can make the charge, he just isn't the major player he used to be. I really like Tiger and I would really like to see him win, but it just won't happen.

Did you not see him run away with the Bridgestone Invitational last weekend? He's currently ranked #1. I hope he can close the gap tomorrow!

Firestone =/= Oak Hill

Maybe it will soften up with this storm but the likelyhood of tiger shooting a 61 tomorrow is low. Would I be stoked? Yes, but its unlikely.

You are such an idiot. He's been in contention to win every major this year... You remind me of people I talked to who said he would "never win another tournament again" after his drought... He isn't the major player he used to be? Come on.

Well last time I saw, you idiot. He's still plus one and 7 back. Also, may I remind you that TIger has never won a major on the last two days when he isn't in the lead. Bitch please, just because he's played great non-major play doesn't mean he can pull through like the player he used to be. You remind me of the idiot that thinks he knows what he's talking about when it comes to golf./end rant

And don't get me wrong, I fucking love Tiger, he's one of my favorite players. He's just not going to win the PGA championship

Dufner on a tear, breaking the course record with a 63. Pretty epic for a major.

Yeah, they can all stick it in the middle of the green from up to 250 yards out, but sometimes the middle of the green is the worst place to be. Do you even play golf?

Haha yes I play golf and he was left with a pretty make-able put about 15 feet away. The way he reacted though you would have thought he hit it in the woods. One of the most important parts of playing golf is the ability to keep your confidence and forget about the last shot immediately even if it was a bad one. Tiger used to be the best at this, he could hit one in the water and wouldn't even grimace, then go up and stick one close on his next shot. Do you play golf? I usually shoot around 80 but I've shot under par many times. The guy has just lost the ability to keep his cool after a bad shot. Do you not agree with this ehv?

Easier said than done....its probably really hard to keep your shit together when you're playing in a major but I still agree that he acts like a little bitch sometimes

i want to see someone w some attitude and personality win a major. sick of all these chads winning.

watching cabrera play like such a boss at the masters was just awesome.

go fowler

go mahan

tiger is a bitch we can agree on that, if everyone had the mindset of angel or fowler itd just be so much more fun to watch i think, no matter what theyre out there having a good time, i mean youre getting paid big $$$ to play golf everyone should be having fun

i was there today, awesome experience. if you're any sort of golf fan, i recommend going to a tournament. these guys are unreal in person

I really wanna see Jason Dufner win this one. His composure and emotion is enough reason to be a winner on such a difficult course. His reaction to making an eagle and missing a record putt today just goes to show how even though on the inside he's nervous as fuck (as anyone out there playing is) and he can play it off as if he's out chilling with some bros and playing a round for shits and giggles. I wish I could I could be half as calm and collected as he is out on the course. Duffys got this one

For some reason I cant stand watching the PGA championship. I feel like the courses are never interesting. I always watch the whole round on sunday, but usually end up watching recordings thursday-saturday of the last couple rounds at merion or muirfield.

You are preaching about a guy who has been #1 in the world for the better part of 2 decades. Seriously, if he holds himself to that high of a standard and is upset when he doesn't meet it, I could care less. It's not like he's your typical clown shooting 100 for the 1,000th time in his life and acting like it's never happened before, or like he's chucking his clubs into the crowd or something. His attitude doesn't hurt anyone else.

Over the years he's displayed an ability to be clutch like no one else in golfing history, he has more major wins than you have golf clubs in the bag, and you have the audacity to question his ability to keep confidence?

I understand that people are bothered by his tendency to be upset after a he hits a shot we wish we could hit 1/100, but honestly there isn't a single person in the world who can say shit to the man about golf and I'm getting super tired of reading more bullshit articles about Tiger's attitude from dudes who have fewer wins than he has Master's jackets.

great to see dufner hold on to win it. i love the guys composure and its also pretty funny how hes always packin a bomb. the ass grab on his wife after the round was top notch as well
