Not at all surprised by the final four teams standing, but not pumped NE plays the Ravens.

he was the best corner in football this year and shut down white when he was in man.

obviously i am not a seahawks fan, but they are one of the teams i think are hard to not like. great young team with good defense. sorry to see them lose, but they made enough mistakes. now pats/49ers superbowl, and it would be perfect.

ravens will probably look for some revenge, but the pats also lost the regular season meeting so they have something to prove as well.

the falcons, i really expect them to be "empty" after this. there was such a big hype around them in regard to get the ONE playoff win. now they have it. maybe they can use it positively and paly without pressure/keep it loose against the 49ers, but i really expect a solid win by san francisco
 
Pretty sure that Sherman and Williams got into after the second play of that game. It was a sweep right and everyone ended out of bounds and everyone was scrummin' at that point. Continued the whole game pretty much too.

I don't particularly like sherman, but you cannot deny that he is a great player and his comments to rg3 make me respect him a little more.
 
Question for anyone who knows what I'm talking about here:

-why was there a 9 second run off of the play clock at the end of the 3rd quarter? It was when the Seahawks were in the redzone mid-drive, and there were 9 seconds left and the clock was stopped so there should have been one more play at the end of the quarter, but instead they clock started again and ran down without a play. Then they handed out awards in the end zone before resuming play. Why did they do that?

-also, when there was 12:55 left in the 4th or 3rd quarter, can't remember which. The falcons ran the ball out of bounds. so the play clock stopped. It was stopped for about 10 seconds, but then randomly resumed running at the beginning of the play clock, causing 30 seconds to run off the clock before the snap of the next play. Was this an error?

Are time clock errors like this common? I was kind of blown away that nothing was mentioned by the announcers or anything.
 
Bummer that seattle lost, but i'm not surprised. I like seattle, they're a fun team to watch, but does anyone else think they're a bit overrated? Look at their schedule, how many solid wins over solid teams do they have? One vs san fancisco? Two? w a one point win over the patriots? Dallas doesn't count as far as i'm concerned.

I'm sure they'll be one of the top if not THE top team next year, but everyone, radio, tv was talking like they were just unstoppable. Sure they scored a shit load of points during 3 games, but two of them were against horrible teams.

Just a bummer that seattle and denver lost, really wanted to see them both in the playoffs, something different than fucking new england almost every year.
 
up until this year the seahawks weren't even so much as mentioned on national coverage or commentary. In contrast it did seem like a lot of hype but there's a lot of teams that get that amount of hype all the time. It was probably surrounding Russell Wilson because he really came out of nowhere- at the beginning of the year he wouldn't have even been in the conversation for rookie of the year and now he's expected to be second to only rgiii.
 
Got my answer to this one.

Didn't realize the rule was this:

The clock stops when a player goes out of bounds only in the last 2 minutes of the first half and the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. At all other times the clock stops but it starts again when the ref spots the ball, not when the ball is snapped.

Not sure when this rule was changed.
 
i mean he didnt get the farthest in the playoffs, 10 picks all season, 26 tds. dudes definitely got a strong case. also nooothing phases him, down 20-0 at half most players and teams woulda quit. nopppe!

stoked for next year, theyre gona be able to return probably everyone and hopefully sign a bigger name wide receiver watch out san fran theyre winning the division next year!
 
The problem is that the votes are taken at the end of the regular season.

In an article titled "Russell Wilson is the ROY" this is how they feel as well, stating:

When the Associated Press finally pulls the sheet off the 2012 awards in 19 days, Wilson likely won’t be named the rookie of the year. Sunday’s game bolsters the argument that the votes shouldn’t be taken right after the regular season ends. Though delaying the process until the completion of the Super Bowl likely would skew the results of multiple awards toward members of the freshly-crowned NFL champion, maybe the voting should be postponed until after the conference title games or, at a minimum, until after the divisional round.

Regardless, if the votes were being cast today, Wilson would be the clear winner. And whoever wins the actual award will know it.
 
Ok- never realized this. Always saw the clock stop and figured it didn't start again till the next snap. I guess it's been changed over for a while and I didn't notice until my team was in a game where every second had me staring at the clock, haha.
 
never a good way to find out there's not a rule when your team would really benefit from it

there is always this HYPE all over the place in media. like now the texans are thrown under the bus like they are a 5-11 team or so.

reality is, nearly all teams are either overrated or underrated because the media cant sell neutral stories. if there was a 32 team playoff, i am pretty sure that a team seeded +12 would win every other time, just because there are about 20 of them.

these blowout wins were against bad teams, yes. but look no further than the falcons, they really had just two huge wins and never scored more than 40 points in a game. its hard to blow ANY team in the NFL out, and even good teams dont put up 40-burgers at will, while also shutting down the opposing defense.

to be honest, i was on the seattle hype train right when they beat the packers well-deservedly early in the season. yes i saw the game. obviously, they are not as good as everyone made them to be, but i am 90% sure that the 49ers hoped to get the falcons (if you omit that home-field thing).
 
I don't think that is a problem at all. The award is an individual based award for the rookie of the year for the regular season. It has nothing to do with whose team makes it farther in the playoffs or who can play better in the playoffs because not everyone has the chance to make it to the playoffs. So, if you were to take into account all the TDs/INTs thrown during post season games, the stats would be incomparable.

Even though everyone wants to discuss whether it should be luck/wilson/rg3, you are all wrong because the real rookie of the year drives this:

hes was a steal. for all this talk about him being too slow, hes pretty good.

profootballfocus definitely appreciated the pats LB corps with mayo, spikes and hightower as being one of the very best in the league. they might have some issues in coverage, but its tough to run against this team.
 
sigh...we were talking about russell wilson-- the problem for him in getting rookie of the year. I really don't have an opinion on whether it should be after the regular season or at some point during playoffs.
 
I know you were talking about Russell Wilson, and if you were to take into account his post-seasons stats, he certainly makes a much stronger case for himself, his ability to lead, and why he should get ROTY. Unfortunately, they don't take into account the post-season and I was saying I agree.

True story about the car though. Alfred Morris is one of the nicest guys in the NFL, truly honored to have him as a Redskin.

no the point of the post was Russell Wilson breaking a 75 year old record-- hence the original poster saying "he's the man" even though they lost.
 
ok he broke the record. that's sweet good for him. But my point is he taking the Seattle Seahawks to the NFC Championship???? NO HE IS NOT.
 
i hate this attitude. he did what he had to. he put the team up with fucking 31 seconds remaining.

its like brady, he did his share in the two superbowl losses, putting the team in a position to win it with a defensive stop.

i personally hate how matt ryan now is treated as "clutch" because he was able to complete two passes (felt like it) in the whole fourth quarter. he couldve ended the game earlier, but he badly overthrew a wide open crosser, which would have allowed them to run 2 additional minutes off the clock. what would people say if bryant misses that kick? is ryan then less clutch?

bottom line: while quarterback is the most important position, by far, its still a team sport. cant call someone out for his teammates melting down.

and youre the fucking hobbit, i always call russell the hobbit. show some empathy.

 
ended up with 3 of the final 4, hoping SF takes care of business in the first game so I can cheer against NE in the second. Otherwise I would have to cheer for NE in the Super Bowl which would suck
