Official NFL 2012-2013 Thread

Hmm....I don't mind them. I don't like Tirico much, but Gruden and Jaws do a good job of bridging the gap between technical analysis and making it interesting to the layman.

Even though it's blasphemous as an Eagle's fan to admit to it, I think Aikman is excellent. The guy is sharp, good voice and cadence, and he gives it straight and leaves the theatrics and hyperbole to others. Buck on the other hand is worthless and one of the most arrogant pompous assholes ever. THE worst. Nothing gave me more pleasure than Artie Lange singlehandedly tanking his terrible studio show.

I really enjoy the studio pregame show...how can you hate Berman? He IS espn to me. The rest of the guys have great chemistry in my opinion, not unlike the longtime Fox studio crew. I know many won't agree with me, but I just think both of those crews pull off the "buddies talking football" shtick to perfection...albeit with som serious game credentials.

For me though, nobody can top the Inside the NFL crew (1st and 2nd gen crews were better, but current lineup and format is still good). It's by far my favorite piece of "football media", thank god for an hour of commercial free premium cable football talk. On that note....I used to hate Chris Collinsworth..like, wanted to murder him hate, but in the last three years I've actually come to like the guy.

Last thing: Anyone else gleefully waste entire days watching marathons of old Hard Knocks seasons of NFL Network? Simply magical. Crazy how the show has grown in terms of production value and editing and whatnot. Still, that first season with Bmore and Goose...holy shit. Gold.

This most recent season blew dick and succeeded only in making Joe Philiben look like an incompetent fool. I hate to say it, but I think HK might be dead.

Semi-related, the NHL hardknocks/24/7 series leading up to the winter classic between Philly and NY was alltime good sports drama. Holy shit, was it good.

and how can you hate berman?

guy is the fucking bomb. always leaning towards the chargers a little bit and i really enjoy his shows

he's the fastest on the team right now after jacobys foot, dhb's attempted murder, and losing routt and van dyke on the other side of the ball but not that impressive for the raiders. raiders war room: how many penalties and how fast? alot and very? perfect, lets snatch him up

yeah, i remember when mayock said that he recognizes a future raider on the spot at the 40 in indy.

like when they got the fastest WR and the fastest OL in the draft, ford and campbell.

Al Davis was always enamored by speed and 40 times, no doubt. Honestly, I know they've struggled for....well, decades-ish?, but it isn't really a bad way to approach scouting/drafting, obviously dependent on style of play (Raiders have been pretty slow in moving towards a more modern O I think? Don't follow them too much).

It's funny, because people always looked at Al as being stuck in a timewarp where he thought about the game in terms of how you built success in 70's, but in a way, it is/was progressive to favor speed over size with the transition to the style of play today. And, it's not like they're the only team that thinks like this...both Eagles and Cowboys jump out immediately as teams that notoriously shun power and size for speed and athleticism.

Who makes personell decisions for the Raiders now?

Week 5

1. Cardinals VS Rams - Rams 2. Dolphins VS Bengals - Bengals

3. Packers VS Colts - Packers

4. Ravens VS Chiefs - Ravens

5. Browns VS Giants - Giants

6. Eagles VS Steelers - Steelers

7. Falcons VS Redskins - Falcons

8. Seahawks VS Panthers - Panthers

9. Bears VS Jaguars - Jaguars (upset pick for fun, Bears fans end up hating Cutler again)

10. Titans VS Vikings - Vikings (biased pick and I'll be a the game ...skol vikes!)

11. Broncos VS Patriots - Patriots

12. Bills VS 49ers - 49ers

13. Chargers VS Saints - Saints

14. Texans VS Jets - Texans

Match ups are all over the place this week. Wouldn't be surprised to see some shockers.....depending on the Broncos defense I could see them winning in New England...I could also see the Skins beating the Falcons. Cardinals get their first loss in a division game against the Rams.

not bad. actually can see how the rams upset the cards.

but i would go with the eagles, bears and chargers.

the eagles have to go out there and beat this team on the road. they already beat the ravens, and deservedly so, but this has to be the next step. gonna be tough, especially with the steelers coming off a bye, but this is a big game for both.

obviously i am a chargers fan and i kind of fear that they catch the saints at a dangerous time. but the way the saints play this year, especially defensively, YOU HAVE to beat them. but it will be tough going into that dome. gonna be a good game.

pats broncos will also be close, but i take the pats at home against anyone. brady lost how many games at home? i think its like 2 games over the last 40 or so.

fuck yeah vikings, though they've come close to blowing it late in the 4th almost every game. knowing the vikings its just a matter of time till they disappoint once again :( but watching them win and pull off these wins is awesome. hoping they keep it up, curious to see how the rest the division will end up doing the next 3-5 games.

best part for us vikings fans is the schedule is really favorable

week 5 - home against Titansweek 6 - @ Redskins

week 7 - Home against Cardinals

week 8 - Home against Buccaneers

week 9 - @ Seahawks

week 10 Home against Lions

week 11 - bye week

The Vikings have a legitimate chance to win all of those 6 games which would put them at 9 - 1 heading into the bye...at the worst I see them going 7 - 3 into the bye week.

with the ending schedule as follows

week 12 - @ Bears

week 13 - @ Packers

week 14 - home against Bears

week 15 - @ Rams

week 16 - @ Texans

week 17 - home against Packers

the back end is super tough and they could easily lose 5 of them and wrap up the season 8 - 8...which is still a success in my book. Win these early games against the teams your supposed to beat and make it interesting at the end of the season for the division, thats all I'm asking. Right now they are 3 - 1 and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it....because being a vikings fan I know how easily it can come crashing all the way down.

and not to mention how Minnesota sports fans are aching for some success out of a sports team...which ever team steps up and delivers will have a fan base going crazy. The dome should be rocking this Sunday after the big win in Detroit. It'll be fun.

mike mayock with his fucking speech impediment or tongue ring or whatever the fuck is bugging the shit out of me

Broncos are a second team/defense more specifically. They've only given up 26 pts in the second half this year and only 6 pts (to Pittsburgh) in the fourth quarter. AKA this game isn't over yet.

Crazy to think the Dolphins are two plays away from being a 4-1 team instead of 2-3. (Missed fg in OT vs Jets and bad fumble on our 30 at the end of the cardinals game)

Broncos D looks like crap today, but Reffs clearly have given the Pats 2 favorable calls in the 2nd half.

Interference on Mays. Mays clearly was on his path.
They missed a holding on Lloyd on 2 of the touchdowns as well.

That was legit, not that it matters since Mcgagee just burned his own team but they spotted that ball about a hard back of where Hillman went down...no one is perfect but i've noticed multiple times they've been less than friendly on spots towards the broncos...again though you can't win when you D can't stop anything...

yeah i know that feeling sometimes, this is the first decent game for the patriots' d

well its a game now. Hopefully the Broncos keep pressuring Brady and double covering haha...there only chance.

And that's why we're having a good day today, patriots running game is on point
