Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

he is disgustingly good. what a fucking monster. him and hernandez tear it up.. and then welker is like the most sure-handed receiver out there.

but i want the ravens to kill it. it's time. it's time for them to win one. they're good every fucking year and get burned by the stillers. TIME TO GET IT DONE WHEN IT COUNTS!!

i dont think so.

and on another note. i remember how anti-brady-ists always mentioned cassels play with the same cast as a sign how much of bradys success should be attributed to the team and not to him.

so how would the same people defend rodgers when flynn tears it up?

just a sidenote. i know the packers bounced back against the bears but they inexplicably didnt press the GB receivers at fucking all. GBs passing game is all about timing and the chiefs showed that.

but read a few pages earlier on my extended reasoning for why the packers wont repeat.

first and foremost: running the ball and stopping the run are (as a post-07 pats and chargers fan hard to admit) the two most important areas for a good playoff team. and the packers ran it quite well in last years playoffs and played good D. this year they dont execute nearly as well in those areas. and THEY HAVE TO PLAY IN LAMBEAU. another negative aspect when you think about what i just said.

whoahhh dont forget the chiefs though.

We have tony moeaki, dexter McCluster, dwayne bowe, jamal charlse, and john baldwin.

This year only two of those guys were healthy. With all of those back the CHIEFS and RAIDERS will be making more of a stir in the afc west.

CHARGERS just suck now. if they cant go to the playoffs with i guess you can call him an elite quarterback there is nothing they can do.

chargers are a legit team, they just never get more than 10 good games in a season and make mistakes in a few others which cost them. but they rarely lay a complete egg like all other teams in the division do.

Lol@flynn, A back up, setting franchise records. Something favre and Rodgers didn't do. He was impressive but everybody needs to stop saying we got our asses kicked. It was a 4 point game. Stafford broke 5,000 which is fantastic.

Everyone got predictions?

Saints/Packers vs. Patriots for the superbowl.

I would love a NFC championship game in lambeau brees vs. rodgers.....two defenses that will be burned for 400 yards by each QB....who ever wins the coin toss at the beginning of the game and gets the ball first wins....they are seriously the same exact team.....and either of those two against brady and the pats would be great.

so when you say that the pats wont reach the superbowl because of their D, then say the same for the packers. noone is talking about it but the packers D is probably worse than the pats D is. and they do not correct it. midway through the season, matthews said that "if we eliminate one or two big plays per game, we're set" (or something in the vicinity of that).

they think that they just turn the switch and win, but they have to work at their issues or else it will

I don't think the Packers will make it to the Superbowl. They haven't been as good lately, and I think they'll lose in the NFC championship.

nice. i just wanted to point out how everybody bashes the pats D but finds praise for the packers and their ability to play overall defense, despite the stats.

i watched a few games, the stats dont lie.

i am happy (i know it sounds weird that norv stays in SD).

although the best would be if he just was offensive coordinator, but i seriously dont want to miss that aspect of him.

i watched all SD games this year and even though it doesnt always work (every team runs against a wall sometimes), their scheming and gameplanning were very good. with a healthy gates, floyd and Vjax, mcmichael, brown and crayton, they have a top 3 group there, in terms of depth AND quality. if they can find a way to get a better run game going and even without it, they are an awesome offense.

defensively, they need to find better players. they have shown that they can dominate, but they just didnt do it consistently AT ALL. i could show you 3 plays from the GB game where they blanketed the receivers and rodgers escaped a sack by a half foot and gets the first down with his feet. those three plays at least led to 17 pts against SD. with one better pass rusher and some DB improvements, they can be a good defense.

AJ, we need a better draft. mathews is a legit back, but for now, definitely not worth giving up all of that. liuget is also a work in progress. we need a defensive hit in the draft and the league will watch the fuck out.

i think norv just stayed because of the ravens game and of rivers. they have to get it together, because next year will be their last chance.

yeah aren't the pats and packers ranked 31st and 32nd in the league on D?

and in all honesty its what ever team becomes hot and has the true desire to win.

The Texans have finally made the playoffs and they are screwed at QB but their o-line and foster and tate at running back could be a lethal combo if they have a QB that can have some consistency with completions.

Also for the NFC I would absolutely not want to play the giants, their pass rush can be so lethal with pierre-paul, uminora (spelled it wrong) and tuck which can make up for a shakey secondary.

and you can never rule out the Steelers they have the experience and the veteran leadership to get back to the superbowl again.

I think it'll be a crazy post-season and hopefully the superbowl is a match up that nobody thinks will happen like the best would be two teams that haven't won one in recent years.

the NFC could REALLY see the packers, saints, 49ers and giants come out on top, i agree with you. but imo, it depends on which teams they have to play at first and where.

for example, the giants should want to play a packers/saints type of team and they will play the packers if the saints and the giants win the first game.

the 49ers on the other hand would be a solid choice to beat GB in lambeau because of the good old recipe of running the ball and stopping the run in the cold. but they have to beat the saints in all likelihood at first at home in a pass-friendly environment.

tough to figure out. a lot of mini-matchups could decide all those games and lead to an upset.

the AFC is, to me, pretty clear. as i see the steelers and texans winning the first round, i expect that the pats/steelers showdown in the divisional round is what its all about. the winner here will win the AFC. the ravens are good and everything, but they are just not a dominating defense anymore (far from bad though) and their offense will not keep up once something turns for the worse (ST score, 1-2 quick strikes by the opponents, defensive score by the opponent, ...) and they have to hand flacco the keys. it might work for one game, but i just dont see it.

i am not a steelers fan, but they find ways in the playoffs as a team to win it. all players play the best in the playoffs, and thats a scary thought. they will roll past denver even with hines ward at QB, believe me that.

bump, gonna be a goodweekend of skiing/football

Im taking

CIN +4

DET +10.5

NYG -3

DEN +8.5

winners

CIN

NO

NYG

PIT

think Im gonna have to cheer for a rapist over a tebow come sunday

whoever handles the instant replay challenges for CIN needs to be fired

also the new discount double check commercial with Raji was pretty funny

chris collinsworth is kind of annoying but you can tell he does his homework he's one of the more football-savsy commentators on tv. glad this game is close, hoping for voertime

yea now that they're all healthy they're gonna be tough to beat, eli still looks really good and they have like 6 guys who would be starting defensive ends on other teams running all over the place causing havoc

I believe that if Ray Lewis makes it to the Super Bowl again there is no way he will lose. I think the Ravens will win it all

thats right. he is annoying as fuck as the madden commentator, but he knows his shit.

even as a former WR he talks about all positions equally and is not only limited to that area of the field.

they are build for that matchup. GB runs the ball like shit this year and HAS to throw. NYG's defense is made for that. you cant blitz a quality QB like rodgers, you have to pressure him with 3-4 guys consistently. and they can do it.

actually i think the NFC is wide open after that nice showing of NYG. all four teams there could play in the SB. of course the saints and packers are favourites, but one or two plays can turn a game in the playoffs.

depending on how the above-average defensive units of the giants and 49ers can limit the above-average offensive units of the packers and saints, these games could be closer than most think.

i would never ever want to block a defensive lineman

all you would do is turn and hide, brother, I KNOW YOU!

---

although its more the fault of EA because they dont work enough on the whole commentatory, which is probably to worst of all sports games.

dont forget the offensive line of the denver broncos. they give tebow extraordinary amounts of time and he uses it well. i have to give him that. he is not a consistent passer, but could make enough plays as long the steelers are trading FGs for TDs to win it, as crazy as it sounds.

denver offense looks good right now. i have to admit that apart from the first two/three drives, this is a good performance so far. they keep running it although it nets nothing and they get the deep throws because the steelers try to play them tight.

for future ref: mid of 2nd quarter, 6-14 PIT-DEN

but dont forget how the broncos melted down against NE with an even better lead.

still a close game but if they beat the steelers like that, i will admit that i was wrong.

and for once i hope that everybody sees what kind of gambler troy polamalu is. he gambled on most of those deep throws (dont remember the TD pass) and got burned. steelers are playing with 10 guys on defense. worst part is that the other guys dont know it.

i understand that he is a rare athlete, but its really a hit or miss thing. and i restate my post up there. of course the whole defense is kind of built for polamalu to freelance, but i am not sure if this is the right defense against this offense.

great game all in all to watch as a neutral.

i would have never imagined that the broncos could flat out beat the steelers and rightfully so in every phase.

it was close at the end, but if the lateral to wallace was called correctly and champ doesnt drop that INT late in the 4th, it wouldnt had been THAT close.

tebow played great. he threw the ball well and beat the steelers without running to much and without too much help from the run game in general. i just want to set the record straight and admit my mistake. tebows style now is more roethlisberger-esque if you think about it, and that could go a long way IF he keeps throwing it that consistently.

i think that the broncos were a little scared of their own success late in the regular season and were able to erase their minds and just played football today.

i now predict that the broncos lose to the patriots by 15+ pts. reason 1: pats playing at home. reason 2: pats will put up 30+ points. reason 3: the broncos will be empty after this win. i think they did 10times more then everybody wouldve thought and the road will end here because of that. sort of like the seahawks last year.

I completely agree. It's not hard to get a bunch of interceptions and knocking the ball out of receiver's hands when you play 10 yards behind everybody else for the entire game. What he is a hard hitter with reckless abandon and I think he is highly overrated
