Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

yea that second one seemed really odd and I could have sworn I heard a timeout whistle right before the snap so Im sure some of the players did too

What rule did you get screwed over by? If it wasn't the tuck rule against the Patriots in the playoff you have no room to complain

also now Im hearing a lot of other ppl complain that we recovered the second one with 2 seonds left and weren't awarded a timeout. the whole play just seemed like a mess but whatever its not like we were gonna do anything this year anyway. but the overtime rule definitely needs to be changed, I feel like it was just a bunch of old men stuck in their ways who blocked the change last time it was proposed.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading his stat line but Im worried the loss is just gonna add to his legacy if he's able to beat the chiefs next week. I realllllly dont want to be a fan of the team that solidifies him as permanent fixture in the nfl.

although chargers are out with a very unmotivated performance against DET and a handful of other games earlier, i so hope that orton sticks it to DEN and shoots them out of the playoffs.

if the D played half as hard for orton as they do for tebow, he would have a couple of rings by now. fucking unprofessional professionals.

true, he's gonna be motivated but we're so god damn inconsisent its not even worth making predictions our games

also I was pissed when I realized there was no game on tonight

if anyone was wondering;surprise surprise its all about money and the TV deals, they don't want games going on too long and don't want games overlapping.

it pisses me off bc the league obviously acknowledges it isn't fair by changing it for the playoffs but that doesn't help me much right now

wow I was expecting a bunch of 'sore loser' callouts. Im definitely a sore loser but that rule is beyond fucked so I guess its pretty easy to agree on.

win the toss and you only have to win one series, lose the toss and you have to win two series. anyway the last nail is finally in the chiefs coffin so i'll stop talking about them and focus on contenders

i could call out sore loser based on the fact that ive been on the losing side of things to the chiefs in ot... but im a huge fan of college ot system so... i agree.

The NFL needs to switch to the college system but the teams should start on their own 40 or at the very least the 50. That way you still actually have to gain yards before you're in field goal range.

Or they could just play another 15 minutes without sudden death

So after the first team scores the other team gets one drive to score? Or are we still talking about the college system?

kinda like the college system, but like an extension of the normal play. no starting out on the 25 or any designated spot... kickoffs and shit like normal. if one team gets a td, the other must match it on the next drive or its done. team to go ahead of the other team after the rebuttal wins.

wtf I actually agree with Raiders fans

also that really sucks for AP, its crazy how fast this league chews up running backs, he actually went arelatively long time without a devestating injury

I guess it wasn't always this way, idk what changed but something happened...

I just always like how now this thread is fueled just by a raiders fan and two chiefs fans. Shows the AFC West is the most passionate about their football :)

Merry Christmas!!!!

Why did they even bother playing him? This fucking blows if we had one positive area on the vikings it was that we had adrian peterson...now he'll never be the same.

Go... Bears? Hahaha I honestly probably wont even watch the game tonight, thats how done with them I am. What a trainwreck of a season...

brees with a couple pics tonight but is only 62 yards away from breaking dan marino's single season passing record. and has a touch down pass so that makes 42 consecutive games with a passing TD for him...only 5 more games until he ties johnny unitas.....pretty cool stuff.

C'mon Breez and NO I need you to keep scoring so I can win my fantasy league and 400 bucks!

Down 5 with Sproles and playing the ATL defense.

Me and my girlfriend have concluded tonight that Drew Brees is one of the most likeable dudes in all of sports. Hes just a nice dude.

i would say so, the saints D looks better to me. they are well rounded and have no real weakness. and vilma is audibling as much as peyton manning, which will make it tough for anybody to score a lot on them.

offense is kinda the same, no weaknesses. they have a good passing game. they have better than average WRs and very good depth there. graham is a very good receiving TE. and they can make plays in the run game. additionally, they execute screen passes like not much other teams. they basically make you defend the whole field. they can go deep on the outside, deep over the middle, short throws to graham and the RBs and test the run defense inside with ivory/thomas and outside with sproles and also stretch the field with their screens horizontally. tough to stop.

packers dont have that versatility and they get a little cocky. the whole year their D said something like "if we eliminate those 3-4 big plays, were set". yeah, turns out its not that easy. they talked themselves into a dream defensively and they will wake up hard in january. even grant said that the only team that can stop them is themselves. that will motivate teams down the stretch.

mvp and offensive player of the year is bullshit anyways. it will be rodgers as mvp and brees OPOTY. mvp would be a cool award if people would actually try to evaluate more than QBs.

Ok Chargers fans. (and I'm singling yall out because I can't seem to think of any group of NFL fans other than the Chargers fans who would do such thing)

I usually don't hate on PB ballots but whoever voted for Phillip Rivers for Pro Bowl QB should go fuck a horse and take a arrow to the head. Seriously, what the fuck.

fan vote is only third of that. chargers fans are definitely not the biggest group and i am pretty sure that even a lot of them didnt vote for rivers (i for example didnt).

i am fairly sure that tebow and dalton got more fan votes (btw, if someone has detailed lists on fan, player and coaches voting and/or alternates, SHOW MEEEE) than rivers, but players and coaches saw that it wasnt ALL him what was wrong. during that win streak they protected him and he lit it up.

and i am pretty sure thats what the coaches and players saw and voted for. and a lot of QBs only played half/three quarters of a season due to injuries and its hard to pick such a dude, so this year he got a little lucky.

gates is clearly a little more undeserving. when healthy he is the best receiving TE in the league (I KNOW), but this was not a good year for him. hernandez was a little more deserving as an example. and i call for a journalists voting because as much as i hate the steelers, i would like to see a good allround-TE like miller in the pro bowl. because he can block too, which is a big part of the position. most TEs that are recognized are simply another generation of WRs. big, tall, former basketball player. they dont really block a lot.

but what makes me sick personally is polamalu and reed year in year out. picking the bills safety tandem as an example would reflect the season more. both had over 90 tackles and 3/4 ints and 1/3 FF and 1/1 FR.

some positions are just horseshit to make a fan voting about. to be honest, i think that 80% of fans shouldnt vote defense and O-line.

i dig fairly deep into the whole stuff, watching 2 simultaneously and the red zone channel on top of it, read stats and all of that, but even i had problems voting O-line and defense.

so for all of those reasons, i think there should be a fourth voting of journalists like for the MVP.
