Official NFL 2011-2012 Thread

Its the same every year. For the most part we are very good at stopping the run. But our secondary gets absolutely shredded in the passing game.

donovan mcnabb had way better stats. teams don't just cut players who they've spent that much time and money on. and I hate jokeland so no breaks

Well I hate Kansas Shitty, but I really couldn't care less about them since they are flat out awful and will continue to always be awful. Enjoy being last in the AFC West once again.

still think david garrard is a good pick? fucking idiot, you seriously have displayed zero knowledge about the sport and the league in this thread other than pretending to be a raiders fan. chiefs arent making the playoffs and neither are the raiders.

woozaaah

"knowledge about the sport"

where were youre payed professionals from ALL teams (including pats) who overlooked tom brady for 6 and a half rounds?

or UDFAs that become solid players while idk how many of the 5-7 round picks never see the field?

or free agent signings that suck the next year? or those semi-legit acquisitions that turn out great?

with so many intangible things, its quite dumb to say that paid professionals get everything right. there is so much about scheme, supporting cast and locker room dynamics to evaluate a QB. just because garrard got cut doesnt mean he couldnt play anymore. whats about kurt warner?

get your head out of your own ass and admit that garrard would at least be worth a try considering the whole situation/price.

what are your options?

orton? clausen? bulger? maybe even rex grossman? brian hoyer? matt flynn? its not like there are 4-5 all-pros running around on the street. if someone is available right now kind of says it all so to say that garrard would be the worst option is just dumb. he kind of succeeded in JAX with a good run game. the raiders have that too and he has a solid arm and can move for those bootleg PAs 50-yd bombs the raiders so love. if you get him at the right price (not kerry collins-type of money though or an incentive-laden contract), you really cant lose imo.

oh I kinda get it, well if you think comparing a pre-draft player to a player with a 10 year career is appropriate then you're not really worth addressing

make a qualified argument and say who should the raiders QB be for the remainder of the season.

its easy as that. all you do is crying around how noone else has any knowledge and you dont give any better solutions.

i know you will say something like "i hate the raiders, idc" or whatever, but i guess you get my point.

haha what????? the qualified argument is that they're fucked, garrard is injured, palmer is locked up they're fucked and theres nothing to say besides that. when something seems too good to be true it probably is but only raiders fans would be stupid enough to think that garrard was gonna be worth anything after 29 other teams have shown no interest in 7 weeks.

i agree that a lot of the vikings positions are starting to get a little old. but i guess my main point is that the vikings are such a emotional team. a lot of their issues are mental and mcnabb isn't helping. especially when he keeps throwing at receivers feet, it makes them look bad too. when peterson and harvin arent getting the touches it makes their stats and everything else look bad. im extremely excited about ponder. i know we are going to have some building years....hopefully get a better secondary as well. not saying that the vikings would be playoff bound with a better qt back. but in my opinion they would have lost nearly as bad if they had better leader. they gave up because morale was low. they shouldnt have, but they did.

i now get your point which is kinda a valid one. but i guess the front office (if the raiders have such a thing at all) wont sit on their hands and go with boller and pryor.

so taking ANY QB that is out there seems like the better choice than just doing nothing.

and to call out a raiders fan because he wants someone else then boller starting is also kinda redundant.

And yes... I would be satisfied getting Garrard on board... and yes, the Jags are retarded for dumping him. You don't dump your starting QB who, despite his back issues, would have been a much better option to keep around due to the fact that throwing Blaine Gabbert into the fire isn't exactly something anyone would expect to pan out well (including yourself, Mr. "all knowing football Nostradamus")

Here's how I see the raiders options so far...

David Garrard - easily the best available option, and he can be signed for not-too-pricy at this point. The Raiders need a backup QB if anything, because right now, it's Boller and Shane Lechler... They can't give the rock to Pryor yet, because hes still suspended... so they downright need to sign someone for at least backup duty - who better to choose than a guy coming off a few pretty solid years? 85.8 career passer rating. Not the best, but better than even Campbell's, so whats there to really complain about.

Kyle Orton - possibly the most football ready option if Denver was interested in making a trade... He's pretty decent, but he's also Kyle Fucking Orton. I don't exactly want Denver's issues in Oakland (although I believe Oakland's Oline could protect him about 100 times better than Denver's) I wouldnt want to give up much for him either. His passer rating is pretty average, but his arm is strong and he knows how to play in the pocket. He's not the most INT-prone either I'm pretty sure he'd love to ditch the mile-high shithole.

Carson Palmer - Not even in shape, but he's the most talented of the bunch... It's an interesting prospect. I'm not even 10% confident of this going down.

anything else is just no better than boller. I wouldnt even be interested really.

hahaha says the one who talks a shitload without knowing jack shit, just to start shit.

You're such a waste of life.

last time I checked... you could trade players for other players in the NFL.

jesus christ man. I'm just talking about options... I have no idea what's goin to actually happen... especially being the Raiders don't currently actually have a GM anyways.

I just think its funny that this whole time Ive been saying you don't know much about the NFL, then you write a novel proving me right.

Kyle Orton would be being paid a starting qb salary to be your backup, you would 'only' be giving up a draft pick so even with the prorated salary it seems highly unlikely that even the Raiders would be stupid enough to pay him, let alone the fact that they would be giving up a draft pick for half a seasons worth of a back up qb

It's an option. That's literally all I was saying. The Broncos are paying him to be a backup right now with Tebow likely taking the helm, and he's in the final year of his contract, so it's not like Oakland's on the hook for him if they were to acquire him... I don't see how posting an option makes me a fucking idiot like you love to call me.

If youre so fuckin smart, what's your idea?

Boller can get the raiders through the next couple of weeks because it's the AFC West, Minnesota, Chicago offensive line is terrible, and Miami. Then if Campbell can't come back after six weeks LETS GO TERELLE PRYOR

my idea would be pray that boeller can go 500 and pray that campbells collar bone heals on the quicker side of the 6 week estimate, tell mcfadden and the d that its all on them now. Orton is also an unrestriced free agent at the end of the season so it makes bad business sense to pay him and bad football sense to sacrafice a draft pick to TRY to save a season in which they're really not a legitimate contender for a championship

this just a guess, I know the Raiders are going thru somewhat of a resurgance but I don't think Orton would have enough draw to warrant whatever percentage of his 9 million dollar salary they would end up paying.

seriously nobody will be happier than me to see them sign Orton

only semi related, but am i the only one that feels like orton on a team with an actual o-line and a staff that backs him would be a really good qb? Not a Brady/Manning level dude, but really good.

Yes you are. Remember when he was with the Bears when they actually had an O line that didn't play like a bunch of crippled war vets? He still blew dick

Boller is the Starter for at least the next 3 weeks no matter WHO the Raiders have... the point is, the Raiders need to sign a backup QB for him... potentially someone who can takeover at starter if he reverts back to a headcase - interception machine like he became in Baltimore, and like what he looked like for a moment on Sunday (bowing your head after you overthrow a reciever? fucking suck it up - you're a big boy. it happens. get back out there and stop looking disgruntled)

If the price was right, i'd have given up some minimum talent for Orton and be satisfied. Regardless. Trade deadline's closed and that's not even an option anymore (it was, however earlier today)

As for a cheap backup with a beast arm? Craig Nall? lol.

I guarantee if Orton played somewhere with a solid passblocking offensive line, he'd be effective as shit in a short-medium range spread offense.

Then again... point is moot, because any quarterback behind a high-quality line can play well.

he's eligible but he's only had 2 days of practice. Hue Jackson hinted at a quarterback competition when Pryor knows the offense

For some reason I heard he was still ineligible through the bye week...?

I still don't know how I feel about having him as the backup when he's had maybe a week of NFL practices and has yet to even see real competition since playing at OSU last season.

He got activated either today or yesterday. I understand not being comfortable with him throwing but i'll take Mcfadden running on 1st and 2nd and then pryor scrambling for a first down instead of Boller looking like last call at a bar, stumbling in the pocket and then getting sacked

We just need some of this kinda shit from McFadden for the rest of the season. No prob.

Here's what I want the Raiders to do. Sign Campbell to a one, maybe two year contract. Use this time right now and get Pryor ready to play. Give Campbell that extra year or two and then let Pryor be the starter. This is what they should do unless Pryor plays later in the season and turns out to be every bit of a champ I hope he is in which case just let Pryor be the starter
